  • Unlike some other opinions, I thought Ken flew just fine. They were VFR and picked the approach on the fly in the world's busiest airspace. It was good training. Best of luck with you're new steed Ken.

    • Why is it that pilots and many Aviation enthusiasts who don't even fly, become total teenage children with snarky remarks, and saying how things could have been done better? It's pathetic we've come to a place where instead of cheering somebody on who is upgrading their skill set, a lot of clowns need to insult them. Ego is a dangerous thing, especially in the cockpit. And many of you keyboard Warriors typing snark from behind your keyboard, are sad little people.

  • For all you guys a bit impatient with Ken, he's going to do just fine. He has a lot of flight experience in complex aircraft, and it definitely takes time to transition to a new step-up bird. There is a learning curve to get comfortable and proficient with it. Rule of thumb is 100 hours to start feeling comfortable and well acquainted, and he's only at 25 hours right now. I'm sure he's going to manage the next 75 hours conservatively and carefully as he makes the. transition to this beautiful and capable jet. Congrats Ken from a fellow Cannuck !

    • He's just way behind the airplane and very tentative and hesitant about everything he's doing. A situation I've been in many times over the years.

  • lol it's easy to comment when you are not the PIC. We can fly perfect when we are the pilot monitoring. Different story when you fly yourself. We all make mistakes. When you debrief each flight all the silly mistakes we make seem how is that possible but we all makes those. These videos Rich makes are great because it gives an inside look into where these pilots came from and as they move up. The airplanes and stories behind each pilots journey is fun to watch. Something different than the technical videos. Specially when you are learning a new airplane it's the nerves. After a while it becomes second habit and seems so simple what seemed like so much work and over at one time. Every pilot goes though it some pick up things a bit quicker than others. Folks should be a bit kind to new people transitioning to a new aircraft.

  • Can see how sensory overload can happen in a complex fast jet and takes time to become comfortable in the plane. In other words keeping up with the plane.

  • Great video! Question: Is "practice approach approved equivalent to "cleared for approach" or did I miss the approach clearance?

    @willnorth5934@willnorth59345 ай бұрын
    • Good question - “practice approach approved” to me is a flying an approach without an IFR Flight Plan, where “cleared for the approach” is IFR clearance while on an IFR Flight Plan with all the separation, etc we get while flying IFR. Maybe a controller will comment. I can’t remember if we were IFR on this flight.

  • “Easy Kill”? LOL Most people pronounce that fix as “Ezekiel” - like in the Bible. (ee ZEE key el)

    @SkylaneGuy@SkylaneGuy5 ай бұрын
    • The fix is EZKEL, never heard it pronounced as Ezekiel in the Bible, heard EZ kill and ez-Kel , never Ezekiel. Regardless, it gets pronounced differently about every time I hear it, which is quite a bit.

  • The student doesn’t realize that he is still a student. He interrupts, finishes sentences incorrectly, is never wrong and is too quick to do things incorrectly or at the wrong time. We were all students, but this guy too cocky.

    • He has trouble w/ the G1000 and the GFC autopilot. Does not appear ready to fly the mustang alone quite yet. I don't think he's cocky. Great video.

    • I don't think he's cocky. He seems unprepared but is trying to come across as if he knows his stuff well. A bit like the dumb kid at school who constantly attempts to come across as smart.

    • Ken is an excellent student and as well prepared and methodical about his transition to the Mustang as anyone I have trained in it. 800 hours in the Meridian is not easy to unwind, and takes time. He will do well in the Mustang.
