Night flights are somehow interesting and boring at the same time. It is difficult to show you what we see. With this film I hope to give you a kind of insight of a night flight.

  • Hi there. I love your videos. I have a fear of flying (although it does not actually stop me from flying, I just get very anxious in the run-up to going on a flight). Watching videos like this kind of helps me in a way because I see all the many safety checks that are carried out before takeoff. I love Fuerteventura, I have had four holidays there previously.

    • Die A-pier is gloed nieuw! Is dit de eerste keer dat je hem daar neerzet op A5

    • Misschien een beetje verwarrend. Maar er is een punt waar je van taxitrack A naar B gaat... Die heet A5. De nieuwe A pier in nog niet in gebruik. We parkeerde op D04 vlak bij het panoramadak.

  • That sound from the engine and the nose tyre during take off roll was lit!!!! Btw, I have noticed that you are turning off the A/P really early during approach and landings, but that is good i think to get some hands on flying and feeling the aircraft.

  • Geweldig mooi om je videos te zien! Zeker zulke nachtvluchten blijven bijzonder om te zien hoe het er aan toegaat in de cockpit. Mijn oudste zoon van 6 vindt het ook schitterend om naar je vliegkunsten te kijken. Op de kinder-kanalen na is dit een van de weinige kanalen die ik hem toelaat te kijken en vaak zitten we dan samen te kijken zodat ik hem wat kan uitleggen wat er gebeurd. Het gaat allemaal nog net iets te snel voor hem haha! Maar wie weet een piloot in de wording ;-)

  • dit is het allermooiste bij avond met al die baanverlichting en dan maakt het niet uit of je dan gaat opstijgen of landen. is voor mij altijd spectaculair. als ik dit zo zie wil ik weer snel het vliegtuig in heerlijk!!!!!!! maar helaas nog even geen plannen ivm een operatie die ik ga krijgen. grrrrrrr. hi hi. maar eenmaal daar van herstelt komen mijn vliegreizen wel weer. vr gr jolanda

    • mightymkl hello captain. But I suggest you to change the camera or camera setting like 4k cos the view is not clear (cockpit and outside) But the video is absolutely amazing.

    • mightymkl morning flight are absolutely amazing ( crystal & clear). For night flight Just for example check the Air France pilot channel. (Guillaume laffon)

  • Ben benieuwd. Is een 737 avondje wel. Was net naar de livestream aan het kijken van Mentour over de grounding in Europa van de 737Max. Nu even ontspannen met jouw mooie beelden. Enne, gaaf... Ik vroeg een tijdje geleden, misschien is het leuk om start en aankomst in een video te zetten. Ik zie aan de titel dat je juist dat hebt gedaan. Dubbel genieten. Tnx. Cheeeck!!

  • What a long taxi! Do you write the instructions down? Or familiar with the airport? Also, when arriving at gate, I assume Eng.2 was off as you explained to me some time ago, so basically after landing you're turning on APU and then when approaching the gate you shut down n.2 so the ground crew can connect the GPU? Or there is no need for APU? Thank you very much for the time you spent on making the video!

    • Well... it depends the length of the taxi instructions.. We have an idea of what to expect. So... some times we write it down (paper of scratch path on FMC). some times we don't. So when we arrive at an Airport we know if we need to start the APU or not. At most Dutch airports we don't have to start the APU. We switch off NR.2 engine and the connect the GPU before I switch off NR.1 engine. So on airports where we will not be connected to a GPU prior shutting down all engines... We just start the APU. I hope it does make sense.

    • Those are the trimwheels. As we accelerate the aircraft gets out of trim for the previous speed. So it changes the trim setting so the aircraft is in balance.

  • Beste Michaël, bedankt weer, zoals altijd, voor een fantastische video. Het werd 'precies' een Multi-linguale-episode... Na een Spaanse 'Muchas Gratias...' volgt een Nederlands 'Tot ziens'. En dat doet plezier hé, wanneer er zo'n wederzijds respect is voor iedereen die meewerkt aan het ganse geheel, en daar op deze manier op reageert. Een beetje verder volgt een Vlaamse 'Wat denkte gij?'. Of wordt er in een gedeelte van Nederland ook zo gesproken? Na het vertrek volgt dan nog een nieuw woord: 'Accellereren'. Je bedoelt toch 'versnellen' hé. 😅 Echt fijn en aangenaam om zo van jullie te mogen volgen...🙂😉😉. En jullie genieten blijkbaar ook van jullie gesprekken... Het kan alleen maar de vriendschap en de tijd van een eventueel saai verloop van een vlucht bespoedigen! Michaël, na de landing komt even het mogelijke nat en vochtig wegdek in jullie gesprek. Kan een vliegtuig door te fel afremmen echt gaan slippen? Er is toch een antislip of antiblokkering voorzien op de wielen of ben ik verkeerd? Bij onze treinen was er althans een antislipuitrusting, maar wij hadden dan ook maar een adhesiecoëfficiënt van 0,003...( als ik het mij nog goed herinner..🙄). Ik vermoed dat dit ook jullie bedoeling was om minder hard hoeven te remmen en dus liever een volgende afslag wilden gebruiken... Ook wil ik u nog eens speciaal bedanken voor de inspanning die je steeds levert om de reacties van je volgers steeds te beantwoorden. Werkelijk toch een hele prestatie. Bedankt. Frans

    • Beste Frans, Allereerst bedankt voor je leuke reactie! Deze vlucht was opgenomen tijdens een periode waar ook sneeuw viel in Nederland. Omdat wij de eerste waren die op runway 36C landde deden we rustig aan. Eerst even kijken wat de condities zijn voordat je verder gaat. Vandaar een exit later en rustig taxiën. We hebben inderdaad anti-skid op alle 4 de main wielen en Schiphol heeft z'n zaakjes qua friction goed op orde. Het beantwoorden van alle vragen (en dat worden er steeds meer) is wel een uitdaging, maar op deze manier wil ik graag onduidelijkheden of vragen beantwoorden. In het begin kon ik dat makkelijk doen... met 1 of 2 vragen... Tegenwoordig neemt het iets meer tijd in beslag. Maar ik vind het wel leuk. Dus... vandaar en bedankt! Groet, Michaël

  • Hello MKL ..... Superb this night video. The night flight is always magical .... An effect, a calm that we have not the day ..... I think too, that it is a good thing to fly as much as possible manually. Firstly because we are pilots and so we like to drive .... and then, it helps to keep a hand. On the other hand, in bad weather, it is better to leave the automatisms and focus on the parameters ... In summary: In good weather we pilot the landing, and in bad weather, we manage the landing (CAT3) .. .. Just a question Mkl, what are you looking at with the camera? Cabin or PNT? ......     • Hi Patrick, We only make automatic landing with CAT3... so 99% of all our landings are manually done. Even with a strong wind we like to be manual prior 1000ft. (when not in clouds). Then we can "feel" the aircraft better and anticipate on wind changes and so on... The Camera we use are for safety. This time we used it to see where our colleague was while she made a call during our checklist. We first finish our checklist and then answer. (Safety rule). It was not to important because she started the passenger briefing speech.

  • Mooie video! Naar Fuerteventura was mijn eerste vliegreis ever ergens rond 1998...Volgens mij ook Transavia in (ik meen) een 757. Ik vraag me alleen af waarom jullie zo je best doen om bij take-off en landing met het neuswiel over de lampjes te racen. Iets naar links of naar rechts is toch veel comfortabeler? Of snap ik er helemaal niets van? :-)

    • Ik vraag me meer af, waarom ze die lampjes zo precies in het midden van de baan moeten maken! Je wil tijdens start en landing precies in het midden van de baan zitten. Mocht er een harde windstoot van links of rechts komen heb je nog marge om iets van de center line af te gaan. Met een motor storing tijdens de start heb je misschien ook wat meer baan links of rechts nodig. Dan is het wel fijn als je vanaf het midden begint. (als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel). Maar bedankt voor je vraag en compliment!

    • Dat is het trim wiel. Daarmee houden we het vliegtuig aerodynamisch in evenwicht.

  • Hoi Michaël, Even had ik in het begin een associatie met Miguel uit “Fawlty toners”. Klonk leuk. Verder vond ik het camerastandpunt mooi gekozen. Meer instrumenten zichtbaar. En bijzonder zo deze beelden in het donker. Het lijkt me wel extra inspannend zo in de nacht, maar jij klaart dat klusje wel weer even samen met je collega.👍 Verde mijn complimenten voor weer de mooie montage en muziekkeuze. Aan het eind vind ik het ook knap hoe vloeiend jij de gesproken tekst monteert in de versnelde beelden. Precies de juiste momenten gekozen. Het was weer genieten. Staat nu in mijn top 5. 😁 Groet, Wim

    • Allereerst bedankt Wim! Een trouwe fan mag ik vast wel zeggen. Nachtvliegen is toch net wat anders als overdag. Op Schiphol zijn de landingsbanen goed verlicht. Op andere vliegvelden kan het soms een "zwart gat" zijn. Minimale verlichting zijn namelijk runway edge lights en threshold lights (Begin en eind van de baan). Dan is de diepte soms lastig in te schatten. Dat editen is inderdaad ff puzzelen met geluid knipsels die ik dan weer logisch in elkaar moet zetten. Door de versnelling verspringen hele gedeeltes en is het dus inderdaad soms lastig om er een kloppend plaatje van te maken. Maar bedankt! Bij deze was het inderdaad wel aardig gelukt (al zeg ik het zelf 😜) Bedankt nogmaals. Groet, Michaël
