Dixie Chopper mowers are some of the best and sometimes people have questions so Dixie Don is here to help. Here I show how to keep your zero turn mower from favoring one side over the other.

  • I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzhead.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

  • Hey Dixie Don, You DA Man,,, thanks for all the time you took answering my questions. That fix was the root cause of all my performance concerns. I have a hilly lot and my Dixie has not performed this well since I bought it new. If you ever in Atlanta, I'd like to buy you dinner and a beer. Much appreciated! Happy mowing days are here again!

  • Don, I just found you today. I have just finished rebuilding my hydraulic pumps on my 2007 Silver Eagle. I really wished I had found you earlier. I still have plans for front tire replacement, oil change, and blade replacement, (which I have to do every year, Sandy soil). Thanks for your videos, and keep it up. Ken from Bixby, Oklahoma.

  • Hey Don, NG, it must be a newer or different style adjustment. Both the drive belt and the blade drive belt are spring load adjustable and it does Not have a long rod bolt adjustment for the engine either. Funny part is that it has the slots for the engine to slide from front to back, however, still like I said no long rod bolt to adjust with. So where to go from here? Thanks much, Kit

    @2JustMe1@2JustMe17 жыл бұрын
    • yours might be a different model. Just loosen the bolts on the engine and pull it back some. A ratchet strap really helps if you are doing it alone. Be careful not to overtighten and strip the engine bolts.

    @mikee32671@mikee326717 жыл бұрын
    • Hey Mike and Alex. Thanks for watching. The Magnum has two cutouts on the front of the frame that work great for lifting it up off the ground. We use a forklift or a chain hoist depending on where we are working in the shop. Place blocks or jack stands under it once you raise it. We use an electric impact wrench that works great for removing the spindle bolt and its sure to tighten it down good enough to keep it tight. Be sure to keep all of the washers in the proper position when replacing. One is a belville washer that keeps the torque on the bolt. If you put it on upside down or above the blade, it won't work properly. Some folks just raise it and use an angle grinder to sharpen the edge on the blades but we take them off and get better results with a bench grinder. You can sharpen the Dixie Chopper brand blades more times than any other brand we have tested. The Rockwell hardness and steel quality on them makes sharpening easier than other brands. Enjoy your new mower and tell Alex to be safe. Thanks again. -Don

    @2JustMe1@2JustMe17 жыл бұрын
    • Is it a Silver Eagle or ClassicT or Golden Eagle? The ClassicT and Golden Eagle had a product recall that fixes the strong steering due to the overpowered Torqpac transaxles. It is a free fix if you take it to your local dealer.

      @c6salesman@c6salesman7 жыл бұрын
    • Don Clements It's a Silver Eagle. The dealers keep telling me that it is air in the hydraulic lines and that I have to bring it in for service. I don't want to pay for something that they should cover so I'll try your adjustment first and get back to you. I was a car, bike and truck mechanic for years I just didn't want to jump on something not needed. The dealers, however, are another fight altogether. Thanks much for your time, Kit

      @2JustMe1@2JustMe17 жыл бұрын
    • Dixie Chopper self bleeds its hydraulic lines. The metal tank has veins in it that filter out any air in the system. The silver Eagle does not steer as smooth as a classic or xcaliber but it shouldn't walk like that. I could fix it if you could bring it by.

    @timallen224@timallen2245 жыл бұрын
    • Tim allen I’ve seen those switches act that way when the seat switch was unhooked or bad. Also the neutral switch can go bad on the steering arms and do that. Use a jumper wire and be safe to find out which safety switch went bad and replace it. What model is it?

  • I have a 2008 cub cadet 48inch zero turn mower I noticed the rear wheels are turned inward a little bit is this normal or how do I adjust it or can i

    @sexymarine29@sexymarine297 жыл бұрын
    • I'm not that familiar with that mower. It's possible that the transaxles have torqued twisted the mounts. I've seen that on some of the less expensive mowers on the market. Dixie Chopper puts a rod between the transaxles on their cheaper mowers to keep this from happening. If it isn't chewing up belts or causing belt slippage, you might just ride it out. You might put a threaded rod through the holes on the front of the transaxle with 4 nuts, one on each side of the transaxle then go to turning the inner nuts out until the wheels are straight and the mounts aren't bent anymore then lock down the outside nuts to keep it from happening again. Let me know if you understand what I mean. Thanks for commenting and watching my videos!

    • Mj Franklin did you make sure the engine was held back very tightly before you tightened the engine mount bolts or possibly did you strip those bolts allowing it to slide forward again? I usually use a ratchet strap on a zee2 to pull that engine back tight and hold it there.

    • Not sure on that model but you can look at linkage to make sure nothing loosened up on one side and if it looks good you need more belt tension for sure

      @c6salesman@c6salesman2 жыл бұрын
  • Won’t that just apply more pressure to both pulleys? I believe there is a belt deflection sweet spot. An overnighted belt puts stress on pulleys and shafts, builds heat in the belt and ultimately shortens the life of it.

    @chipper442@chipper442 Жыл бұрын
    • No. You could never get it that tight. It’s rubber so it will flex some. If it was a chain then yes but in this case it won’t hurt, just help performance.

    @donknowlton2301@donknowlton23017 жыл бұрын
    • It is just the adjustment on the levers going to the transaxles. There is a rod that goes to each transaxle. Just loosen the jam nut and turn it one direction, if that makes it worse, turn it the other direction until a true neutral is found. The rod coming up out of the transaxles is usually in neutral when it is straight up and down. Good luck with it!
