Weather officials urged residents in eastern Nebraska to seek shelter “immediately” as tornadoes moved through the Lincoln and Omaha metro areas on Friday, April 26.
On Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in the Lincoln area.
Footage filmed by Clint Hendricks shows the massive tornado swirl as he drove on Interstate 80 on Friday afternoon.

We're having a tornado outbreak. That's just one of several tornadoes that have been on the ground. There are still 6 tornado warnings right now.
A few weeks back, we had 12 tornadoes in Kentucky. Stay aware and safe.
Im from the uk and Ive been following this outbreak all day on twitter and the radar. Stay safe.
@@callumjeavons8575Thank you! Saturday is going to be wild! All the way from the Southern Border to Michigan. Stay safe y’all!
a couple weeks ago i was at work (i mostly drive for work) and i got caught up in a rainstorm with tornado warnings blaring. Seems they have popped up a lot more this year.
Night of the twisters all over again, maybe not as bad though
That is a perfectly formed supercell storm. There is almost NO rain surrounding the tornado. You dont see them like that too often.
I’m going to say for the last time. This year will be unprecedented for many states, a lot of storms and tornadoes. People will be confused and blame weather modification. It’s just climate change accelerating + El Niño in full power
@@giganigga9624 yip....and it's been going on for 5 million years.
@@giganigga9624 THANK YOU. You have NO idea how many people need to hear that.

I'm a driver for a flatbed company headquartered just south of Seward - been with them for 10 1/2 years. I've been trucking for almost 40 years, over half has been with Nebraska based companies. While I'm a Texan, Nebraska is second in my heart. I cried seeing the devastation caused by the floods the last several years. Seeing this hurts.. Prayers for all.
Thank You Sir!! Hope you and yours are safe as well.. no matter where.
God Bless You 🙏🙏🙏
Send moneyTrumpboy🇷🇺🐖‼️
Many of our neighbors here on the Iowa side of the Missouri River lost their homes today. This thing was massive.
🙏
The irony of a tornado traveling near a "Safety Starts Here" sign was not lost.
Good eye
First time I clearly heard one at the end. Amazing footage.
That was truly amazing. I, too haven't heard that before.
God Bless Nebraska!!! Nebraska Strong. GO BIG RED ♥️
Less than 30 minutes away and houses are destroyed how insane! My phone was blaring all day
🙏
Terrifying!
Cuz you made them not concrete but from matches
Sign says "Safety Starts Here" well it ends just down the road.
People parked/stopped under the overpass are idiots
My aunt’s house was slightly damaged but she said the neighbors house is half gone. They are counting their blessing tonight.
Glory to the most high
"Storm chaser followed the tornado despite repeated warnings from officials". No. Storm chasers followed the tornado BECAUSE OF repeated warnings from officials.... because.... that's what they do. LOL! And thank you all FOR doing it, and helping keep people informed and safe.

Can’t believe I went through these roads just a few hours before

Good thing that cop was there to go in and stop the tornado
I saw that!! My thought was, "Where are you GOING, idiot??"
He was gonna arrest the twister for Jaywalking his highway
How can you stop a tornado?

SO AWESOME!!!!!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!! Glorious POWER!!!!!!!
Pretty cool to watch. Never understood why they build there.

I witnessed this firsthand in Northeast Lincoln. Saw the funnel cloud spinning like crazy right out to my east, almost felt like it was on top of me. I didn't get my phone out until it was on the ground though. Then the funnel dropped really quickly, become violent looking and hit a building right to my north. Craziest thing I've seen that close. Got a video once it was on the ground
Prayer's for everyone there. Alit of brave people driving right into it.🙏
I hope everyone is ok.
No fatalities, but a lot lost their homes & over 10k lost power.
@@SasukesSausage Hopefully the Red Cross or some other organization will take donations so we can help out in some way. Do you know of a local group that will take a donation via credit card or check? Thanks.
@dhh488 not that I know of. I'm assuming the mayor or someone with power might do some type of donations at some point because 6-10 tornados hit everywhere in NE Friday. Even our airport got some heavy damage. Nature is beautiful & brutal unfortunately 🥲
It's LIKE watching TWISTER 😅
I don't understand. Why drive towards a tornado!?
Probably a tornado chaser
Many people’s jobs depend on chasing tornados and studying them
people sins
Can’t imagine seeing that from their perspective, so terrifying.
I am very thankful there wasn’t a tornado near me. We’ve been getting a lot of warnings/watches just in the past 2 weeks! None that have been near me for years though!
Saturday morning, (today) my wife and I went to check on our camper in Waverly. I didn't see any of the damage on tv. Driving on highway 6 was quite a mess. Metal debris laying along side the curb. Rail cars separated and on their sides. Steel girders ripped off a building along with most of the sheet metal.
I always heard if you are driving get out of car and into nearest ditch.
New advice is to stay in the car and drive away from the tornado, I think I would pass on the ditch idea. 🤣
You literally spoke about what I'm going through right now 😮
Praying everyone is ok I've been in 2 tornados myself very scary
That he, who controls the weather, controls the world.....
Incredible video
Remember when you see a tornado drive straight into it with your phone in your hand.
I don't believe the guy was driving INTO the tornado ....
9 pm Des Moines being hit.
😢Makes me keep thinking why is the US is the only country ive seen that have tornadoes and never in my life seen no other countries have tornadoes?
Other countries do get tornadoes. The deadliest tornado in history hit Bangladesh in 1989 killing 1300 people. Eastern Europe and Italy often get tornadoes. It only takes warm moist air to run into some cold dry air and they can appear anywhere.
@@justonecornetto80 sorry to hear and my condolences 🙏 to there family. I'm just wondering because all I see is in the US. Yes other countries I see earthquake or tsunami but its rare seeing tornadoes.
@@anol.boyz1226k In Europe we don't get tornado seasons like the US does. But if a big cold front sweeps down from Russia toward the Black Sea and it's warm enough, it can create some very nasty storms that produce tornadoes. Bangladesh gets quite a few because the meteorological conditions are similar to Tornado alley.
So powerfull !
Watching from Virginia. Stay safe!
incredible footage
May God Bless You All & Keep You Safe.❤🙏🏽
Recorded horizontally:)
you missed the HUGE multi vortext one they were chasing last night as well, that one lasted SO long i don't think they know how much damage it did, conner was chasing it for a good while until it hit a town and he had to go do S&R
Reed Timmers stream was intense, just tornadoes popping off everywhere.
Terrifying
Tornados are a crazy sight to behold no matter what era.
Praying for the tornado
WOW !!!
JESUS be with them excellent prayer!!!
That dosent look like its moving 50 miles an hour….just sitting there shredding everything for a long period of time
Springtime in the plains. This is why the US has a storm spotter system. We help save lives by observing and reporting storms such as these to the National Weather Service so the NWS can get updated warnings out to the public so the public has more time to prepare before a storm of this kind of magnitude impacts a specific area. Certified Skywarn Storm Spotter.
I absolutely have never seen video footage as we have for these storms until now. Seen several aftermaths of destruction , so many people were so close to thee tornados and risked their lives to take these.
I live near omaha, this was horrifying.
What a monster
All the money to Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel, and now no money to repair all tornadoes tragedy
That one vehicle was goin towards the tornado as it were a fire truck puttin out a fire 😂
I hate to be that person, but the way the video is captioned makes it seem like there's a town called Lancaster. There isn't. Lancaster is the county that our capital, Lincoln, is in. This thing moved on the outskirts of Lincoln and hit Waverly, causing the roof of a warehouse to collapse and trap 70 people inside, as well as derail several train cars. That is the one in this video. Another hit Epply airport in Omaha and ripped up 4 hangers housing private aircraft. Another hit Elkhorn, an Omaha suburb, and flattened several blocks in a subdivision. Dozens, if not over a hundred, houses are damaged ranging from missing siding and beams to absolutely destroyed except for some foundation traces. It looks like a bomb went off. I would be very surprised if the one in Elkhorn wasn't at least an F4. Wind speeds were measured at 230 mph, it was over a mile in width, and it caused millions of dollars in damages. Those homes were all new and incredibly nice. If they were even on the cheaper end of the housing market right now at 300k per house, which I doubt they were as Elkhorn is a high priced area, well... Several blocks' worth of houses and were in the tens, if not hundreds of millions.
Definitely need a tornado section of the Academy Awards. Oscars to be given both living and posthumous.
It looks so supernatural. Like some extra terrestrial activity
Absolutely spectaculat footage.
I'll never understand how anyone can live there.
