  • To improve handling, you'll want to make it longer and wider. that will allow you to lower the turret assembly. For the string, you could make it so the string goes through a Technic brick hole so there's no backlash. 11 sec/shot isn't terrible. It just sounds slow.

  • When I was a kid, I felt sad because my brother stopped playing legos with me, in favor of playing video games. I thought maybe he didn't like how I was playing with the legos, so I spent four hours building a few tanks, buildings, and military outposts out of whatever legos we had. When he noticed what I was doing, he started helping me build everything up, and we ended up reenacting WW2 D-Day, storming the beaches of Normandy. When we got done, we hadn't even realized it was past our bedtime. Fast forward to the beginning of 2020, I heard my fiance had taken her own life, and it broke me. One of the things that dragged me out of it, was my brother reminding me that no, people don't want me gone. He looked back fondly on the day we took a few harry potter minifigs and turned them into the most dangerous men on the battlefield made him chuckle alot when he was going through his own issues. I love legos. When I eventually have kids, I'm going to get them as many as I can afford.

  • That thing is truly terrifying. Nice work! What if to become less unstable it had the ability to shift its center of gravity?

    @CaptainWizard3000@CaptainWizard30009 ай бұрын
    • Or make the tracks like typical tank have, not squared behind like it is for some reason. Adding weights to the middle should also help. It is hard to imagine making the mechanism to shift the centre of gravity not taking a lot of space or even requring additional motors

      @User-gg5ks@User-gg5ks9 ай бұрын
    • Really Bad Idea, to shift the center of gravity you would need more motors, more parts, that in the end add lots of weight to the tank, and that we want to avoid. The solution here is to have the Tracks shaped like the Mark V tank, which would add more surface contact to the ground and prevent situations like in 4:07 (also way less weight than having a whole mechanism to shift the center of gravity)

    @danielngmoen3901@danielngmoen39019 ай бұрын
    • This. I think most actual tanks have it so the angled tracks at the front also exist on the back. And the "turret" is always in the center, which probably helps with balance. adding a second motor to each side would probably help too, but you would still have trouble with balance i'd imagine

    • I agree. I'd be curious as to where the inspiration of this style came from. I would've thought the most sensible approach would've been to mimic something tried and true like a modern tank design. The completely vertical back has pretty obvious shortcomings. The height could be an issue as well. I wouldn't be surprised if this design was prone to tipping sideways.

As for the cannon, perhaps a quick-release mechanism on the winch? Or maybe make the pulling-back thingy (I'm an engineer 🤪) separate from the "bowstring" as in a crossbow and make it move forward to get out of the way.
