Probably the best way to clean my office is to clear out what should be trashed. Mostly papers. That seems to help a lot. Once, I put my papers in about 4 reusable grocery bags. Then when I had the time and wherewithal, I took a bag and cleared _all_ the stuff out of it that I didn't need anymore. What was left was maybe ten items I needed to keep. The rest got dumped.

If you keep your hobbies out in the open and visible, you're more likely to work on them. BUT, if everything is messy all the time you'll get depressed. What I do is I have a rule. My living room, kitchen, and bathroom must always be clean in case guests come over. But my bedroom is allowed to be a little messy. That way I always have a clean place for when I'm overwhelmed and a creative/disorganized place for hobbies.
I too have organized chaos, i get so upset when people move my stuff around
The battle between my mom's OCD and my organized mess.
This is why you never clean a man's room. It's not a mess, it's Organized chaos.
Ah organized chaos, I know the feeling
Speaking from ADHD, this is so true.
That mug is living its best life 😃
certain things go in certain places
Cass from Clutterbug says "Horizontal means hidden, vertical is visual" so basically you need different ways to organize like hanging bins etc
This how we feel looking through our photos and talking ourselves out of uploading the videos
This reminds me of that meme where a guy asked his roommate for a paperclip and his roommate responded with, "on the floor, right side of the desk, between the leg and the mini fridge"
It’s even worse if someone tries to clean it for you! I appreciate the thought when someone cleans for me, but I really can’t find anything if I’m not the one to put things away.
The messier my table is, the more it help me feel I’m busy getting so much work done. Even tho all I did was attend 2 meetings, send 3 emails and drank 4 cups of coffee that day : D
Its even worse when someone else cleans stuff for you. Im still missing important items
This is me every time my mom forces me to "organize" my room or my desk
So really, he didn't clean. He stashed away.
This is SO relatable. My wife says I keep my home office in chaos, but it's a controlled chaos. I know where everything is. She says she can't find anything in there. I just say "Why are you in MY office? We bought our house with 4 bedrooms for a reason. 1 room for us, 1 room for guests/a possible kid someday, and 2 rooms for an office for each of us."
this is how I manage tabs for my internet browser. there's logic I swear
This is so relatable. Once my mom cleaned out my dresser and I wanted to go grab something from it before remembering I didn’t know where it was or if I even had it.
Absolutely! Let's hear it for messy desks!
To be fair, there is literally nothing there
my feelings when my grandmother broke in my room and cleaned my desk for me
They need a visual organization system. I would recommend trays for the piles of paper and keep them in the same places he had them before, just slightly corralled. Then use vertical space for the sticky notes and markers. Do I think about this stuff a lot? Yes, yes I do😅
I feel this pain
I swear this happens to me sometimes. My mom got me a shelf for my notebooks. But instead I just shoved everything back into the corner of my desk.
lets go! a new chris hallbeck vid!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
I can clean my desk BUT I guarantee you my efficiency reduces by half because of it.
Screams in adhd solidarity
I KNEW THAT WOULD BE THE PUNCHLINE!
I mean this in the best way, this is EXTREMELY neurodivergent energy. I relate to the controlled chaos organization so so much,, auDHD real
I wouldve just straightened out the stacks, grouped up the tools, and moved the sticky notes into easily seen places
"If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?" - Albert Einstein
As someone with ADHD, I can relate. This is a disaster for our brains 😭
Why is this so relatable
🎶Ooh I can’t believe it! There she goes again! She’s tidied up, and I can’t find anything!”🎶
All my tubes and wires and careful notes! And antiquated notions!
