Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has gifted audiences one of the most successful film products with the MCU. However, with all the good times, bad times have come for Marvel Studios as well. In this replay of my live stream, I'm going to talk about the latest interview with Marvel Studio execs as they describe the state of the MCU and what they hope for the future. I'll share my thoughts on his interview and I hope you do the same in the comments.

  • I hope they decide to bring back Jonathan Majors to finish his role as Kang. Make his character reboot what has happened. Wishful thinking. Let's not give up on Kang (the original Kang). If they decide to recast...ok fine but make it make sense OR just bring back JM to continue playing his role.

  • MCU struggling isn’t like any other studio struggling. Cuz when u look at the actual numbers post phase 3 they are still one of the biggest franchises and get more people to the theaters than their competitors. In 2023 MCU had 3 releases. 2 out of 3 of those releases were in the top 10 worldwide grosses for the year and one was too 5!! Yep!! Antman believe it or not, was the 10th highest grossing film of 2023 calendar year! So u ask how could that be with all those headlines saying it flopped!? Two things, FIRST it came out in January and at the time no one knew the 2023 box office would be so weak that Antman would actually end up being one of the top grossers and SECONDLY it wasn’t profitable because of the over-inflated budget. In 2022 MCU had 3 releases and all 3 were top 10 worldwide grossers and in the US (the worlds largest box office) MCU had #2 (Wakanda Forever) and #3 (Dr Strange)- that’s 2 of the 3 top movies of the year! Hell, even Eternals was a hit relative to all the other movies that come out that year it even outgrossed the first Dune movie that came out that year #6 in the US and #11 for the worldwide charts! MCU may have problems but getting butts in seats (relative to other movies) isn’t one. It more a fallacy and there’s so much talk about their decline from Phase 3 but truthfully that’s bar they may never reach again and that’s ok- that’s not the only measure of success. Now quality and hits with critics and fans… that’s a whole other story…lol

If feige listen to his fans, stick to the lore of the comics just like they did in phases 1,2,and 3, then they’ll be on the right track. “Sonic the hedgehog“ is a perfect example of this! They put that first trailer out and people were pissed at sonics design. The studio heard that went back in redid him, and the rest was history.

  • While true that trying to make too much content can be an issue, that is not the only issue with Marvel. It's also the decision making and direction Marvel has taken. The decisions don't seem to be based on what the fans want to see like the past successful MCU movies. Now they think they can push a female centric agenda disguised in super hero films and we're supposed to just accept whatever they serve. DP will be a hit because Ryan Reynolds respects his fans and serves his fan base before the agenda. Rumor is they want X-men also to be female centric just like everything else with the MCU. Male and female superheroes can both excel without disregarding the other. Hopefully Marvel can figure this out and correct this going forward. Slowing down is great and all but they need to go back to the drawing board about their overall focus and target audience.

    • @@EmansReviews Do you plan on making a video about the rumor that Marvel wants the live X-men movie to be female centric? This is the issue more than too much content. Male and female heroes can both thrive together. Why doesn't Marvel understand this.

      @jamesbush4929@jamesbush492910 күн бұрын
    • @@jamesbush4929 no because whether that rumor is true or not, the way it's reported is dumb. Focusing on women is NOT a problem. X-Men 97 has been doing it all season and no one complained. People just don't want pandering (or forcing a subject) which is very different than telling authentic stories. For example, if marvel wanted a writer who could finally tell a great story about Jean and Phoenix or Storm going to Africa and marrying T'Challa, would that really be a problem? (Especially since it's from the comics) So no, I'm not falling for the bait of a random rumor. Now IF the movie comes out and it feels forced and not good THEN I'll criticize it plenty.

      @EmansReviews@EmansReviews10 күн бұрын
    • @@EmansReviews I agree with you that IF Marvel gave us great stories about female characters we actually care about like Storm, Phoenix and Rogue then yes they would be successful. But it can't be ignored that Marvel has chosen to focus on female pandering in addition to lots of content and that's part of the problem too. Black Panther 2 suffered from this as well. And X-men 97 does not come across as focusing on the women, it seems to be a good enough blend unlike What If Season 2.

      @jamesbush4929@jamesbush492910 күн бұрын
    • @@jamesbush4929 oh I agree in the past, after endgame, it was definitely forced and not good. It was too noticeable and it felt performative. And you're right, X-Men 97 doesn't feel like they're forcing women and that's the best part. Almost every episode has been about the women but the stories are so good no one minds. Hopefully that's the lesson marvel actually learns too.

  • Allow me to take Fiege's "Better with no expectations" theory further.... The best thing he can do to maximize on that is to cast the best fit for roles instead of chasing big name actors! This is especially true with the MCU now fixing all of the flubs that FOX made with The X-men & Fantastic Four. Between those two franchises, there was a handful of cool castings & a lot of horrible ones. The only perfect one was Patrick Stewart as Professor X. I love Halle Berry & Hugh Jackman as actors, but NO. They could have saved millions on casting better fitting actors for those roles. Fiege needs to beware of this as he already has slipped into this trap.

  • Marvel has heard all the complaints and has had time to adjust, and they still give us the same crap movies. Giving us less is not going to change things, in my opinion. Marvel had decided that they're going to continue to give us what they want, and the fans are just going to like it.

    @Cybertron429@Cybertron42910 күн бұрын
  • It wasn't dilution through doing too much. What got diluted was the quality of the writing, the need to make everyone likable and "funny" and shoehorning what makes spidey great to every character. Also you can make a proper Villian and not have to kill them off. Just about every decent one was killed off. High Evolutionary? Thanos? Ego? In a way, I'm glad they haven't tried the Xmen yet. The writing challege presented by the material would be too much. The 97 series has shown how it can be great, and comparing the writing between this animated series against the last several MCU projects is like comparing a senior high school essay to a middle school one.

What the issue is that they're not doing the storyline right they supposed too. secondly, didn't bring all the superheroes characters in the movies and series that should have been. Like was in the some content that is or all the content. That was in the comic books and make sure that all the superheroes are in the movies, and not fan favorite superheroes but have all the superhero characters and get the right actors to play the action movie of those characters.

  • Don't have the confidence you do Bruv . If your comp made a new sandwich based on an old formula and it was a hit and then you started freestyling abandoning the formula everyone loved i don't think making fewer sandwiches is the correction. The correction is a return to the formula with innovation based deeply in the original formula. I don't hear marvel criticizing themselves for the decision to actively reject the formula. To hire writers and directors completely and deliberately ignorant of the formula. I hear announcements still seeped in the new recipe most did not like. I'm go out on a limb and say that end game was the beginning of marvel's downward spiral. They promised that endgame would not be a time travel movie. Remember that? And what did they do? Yup gave us a pure time travel movie. Same thing happens with a lot of successful companies. Did you see the founder?

    @rbgrider@rbgrider10 күн бұрын
    • So I'll disagree mainly with the analogy because making movies isn't really the same as making food. Sure it sounds good to just make the same thing and don't change, but I don't know about you, but I'd eventually get tired of eating that same thing. Lol Making movies in the entertainment world is all about trying new things. Similar to the music world, if you don't change and innovate, you get left behind. So in this case, Marvel needs time for better quality control. To me, that includes time to HEAR from fans what works or doesn't. They can't do that if they're rushing from project to project. So as I've said before, I'll judge whether marvel will succeed or not when they actually use their best assets like the x-men. If they fail with that THEN there's good cause to worry. Giving up on them after they had a poor phase and even after they said they're going to learn from that just seems premature to me. 🤷🏿‍♂️ We've never seen anything like this in the movie business so I think people should have a more long term view rather than just a "what have you done lately" view with a cinematic universe. But to each their own.

It’s like a successful pizza restaurant who switches from serving pizza to serving sushi, then ignoring their customers complaints/wants and doubling down on serving sushi (nasty sushi at that) even tho they’re losing money…, Then when they’re almost at the stage of bankruptcy, they act as if they didn’t know why they failed. 😂 I see they’re trying to use the whole “superhero fatigue” excuse… It’s so played out. It doesn’t matter if you go from 5 piles of crap a year to 2 piles of crap a year… It’s still crap. Go back to the original formula and ditch the woke agenda bs. The woke agenda was clearly the motive behind those terrible movies.
