  • The key to this behavior is constant maintenance. Walks are a daily routine not "when you have time". This includes in the rain and snow. As the dog gets older the routine becomes cemented in. Great to see other people doing it. Having a dog is a way of life to get these results.

  • I rescued a Dogo from the pound who was formally trained. He would not only obey off leash commands. He also understood hand signals and would go into guard mode if I encouraged it. I did not know enough about either topic so I never gave or implied those commands. The dog has been gone for 10 years now.

    • Argentinean Dogo are very good companions. However, they are not for everybody who just think they need one. They really require a lot of exercise. Beyond the usual 15' walk. They also take their job to protect the family very seriously. This can be seen as intimidating. They only have one master, but are dedicated to the whole family. Children included. They are fantastic partners and very dedicated to their family. That means you too. They don't get along very well with other pets, unless accustomed from a puppy, and even. They like to dominate. They can be stubborn at times, especially when getting older. They are extremely clever and are dependable on any task they set their mind to.

  • I can do this with my akita but if there's any male dogs around or rabbits or squirrels then it's out of the question
