  • Our big boy loves the lake. He goes crazy at the water. I've noticed when we are at the lake if their are children Bosco will get between them and the deep water and heard the kids to the shallows. My wife is about 100lbs and our Dogo is 125lbs but walking on a leash he never pulls or even pays attention to other dogs barking. But if their is a dog loose he will guard my wife but he never pulls or acts out until its necessary. I couldn't ask for a more loving or attentive animal

  • My mom babysits kids and they have a giant dogo argentino. She is 100 pounds. She is the sweetest thing and listens to all commands. When I go with my mom I take the dog for a 40 minute walk and half of it is a run. She comes in and just lays down on top of you. They are the most loving and will love you forever if you walk them and play with them. I love her to death.

      @DogoArgentinoUSA@DogoArgentinoUSA3 жыл бұрын
    • @@DogoArgentinoUSA trust me he will be amazing at it. They are so naturally in tune with us its unbelievable. What made me decide to get Sue tested was when he was 8 months old and 2 weeks before my wife and I got married we were driving from Vegas to Boise to visit my in laws and it was the middle of the night. A moose elk broad sided the passenger side of our car peeling the entire side of the car open like a tin can. Anyway I hit my head right on my temple on the b pillar where the seat belt buckle connects causing me to instantly start vomiting and going into a seizure (I have had 6 tbi's and countless concussions from fighting professionally for 20 years so that is my life now) well he unbuckled his seatbelt harness and gently put his left paw on my left forearm as well as laying his head on my upper chest so that I didn't violently flop around causing anymore damage from hitting my head any further. He has literally saved my life multiple times. When I took him in for his evaluation the owner/head trainer evaluated him because he had always wanted to train a bully breed, specifically a dogo. He had said during part of the training he takes the dog home with him to see how they react away from the owner for about a week. Then he says he might have to do 2 weeks, which then turned into 3 weeks, which then turned into him keeping Sue because he fell in love with him instantly hahaha I mean come on, whats not to love!

  • great video! I have a 6 month old female Dogo and if I didn't socialize her every day I would have a huge liability instead of an asset! she would have been a train wreck. I train her every day and take her everywhere I go. If I was not self employed and couldn't take her everywhere with my I don't think she would have turned out to be a well rounded Dog. She is doing great loves people and other dogs as long as she is not to excited. She will not let anyone come on property unless she knows them, or we welcome them. She likes men more than women, likes kids. She is a great dog but not for everyone, I can't imagine her not being a part of my families live, I love her.

    • Dogo Argentino USA - Yep, pack animals down to the bone. Leaving to work a 9-5 with a lone Dogo is a no-no. I think of them as white wolves because they thrive in a highly social environment. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if a pack of Dogos managed to survive in the wild.

      @kingwillie206@kingwillie2064 жыл бұрын
    • King Willie I think a pack could have a shot of survival in the wild. Having watched them pack-up in a coordinated attack against a perceived threat to us, I can say that it would be devastating to be at the wrong end of that instinctive behavior. The Irish Wolfhound in their lineage is definitely 💪

  • My Dogo is my service dog. She absolutely loves me. I rescued her, she was a puppy mill, she was made have puppies every time she went into heat. She loves me, I can’t run, I am disabled. I have MS. She takes care of me. There are ways that you can exercise your Dogo that don’t need you to be physical. Please tell all of the truth. I have my Dogo in training, if they are trained correctly, they will do everything you want them to do. They need to be trained. My Dogo was absolutely amazing from the day I rescued her. They know when you are helping them. You guys deal with Dogo’s that have been neglected, you don’t deal with the Dogo you rescue. Baby is my first Dogo and all she wants to do is help me. I have helped her as much as she has helped me. Have a reputable trainer an just give her or him a chance!

  • Excellent advice for ALL dogs/owners, regardless of breed, though the amount of energy/exercise needed varies by breed, of course. The difference with a dog like a Dogo (or any "protection dog" or dog with a high PSI bite) is that the consequences of lack of exercise, lack of early and consistent training, lack of socialization etc. can be a DISASTER--because a bite can be so severe (i.e. a torn up couch may be the least of your problems). If a potential owner can't make the commitment to exercise, consistent training, etc., please, please, don't get a "Formula 500" dog like a Dogo or a Malinois. One more note for any readers who are considering a dog for protection purposes: You need/want 100% CONTROL with a dog used for protection, which means commitment to significant training (e,g., 100% recall even in distraction; without fail "wait" commands, etc.). Protection should not just "happen" because you risk the dog making an error in judgment. Thanks for the video. Breathtakingly gorgeous dogs and EXCELLENT advice throughout the entire vid. I can't thank you enough.

  • I got my two Dogo's a couple of years ago. I have to say that they seem to be a lot like the short haired Chows I have had. Because I live in the bush in our cabin our dogs get very little human contact other than my wife and I. Just like the Chows, they are extremely protective and aggressive towards other people [ when we see them which is rare] and animals. Out here, this is not a bad thing. These dogs are great alarm systems when it come to bears and big cats, again a good thing considering where we live. And just like the Chows, very very loving and loyal to my wife and I. We love em, these are great dogs in every aspect. We even got them their own beds because you cant sleep with two people and two Dogo's in your bed Lol. And if your wondering, thats Macks in the thumbnail. A great Dane Husky cross. Yup, there is a whole lot of dog out here with us.

I want to express how important it is to realize that if you even in play go toward the owner or playfight with the owner , this dog will protect the owner. You could find the dogo will attack. Always remeber that although this dog's temperament is good the dog does not know you are just kidding around. This happened and I told the person that even know it was a light slow kick , the dog did what it knows, to protect its owner. In any breed dogs world revolves around the owner and protection of that owner.Dogs are smart ,but expecting the dog to reason between the difference of play and what is real when it comes to the safety of the owner , is taking a good chance that you might find yourself at the teeth end of the dog if your not careful

I too would love to live there I love that country culture they have down there... But since that will probably never happened for me I plan on rescuing a Dogo Argentino within a year or two cuz I have a active lifestyle I love the wilderness... when I was 20 I used to have American Bulldog which I rescued from a local pound and he looked & acted very similar to Dogo's and that is how I found out about the Dogo breed actually... and the dog breed made me very intrigued with the country!

She does eat raw meat with bones and lesser kibble. She is never in a kennel or tied up. The house is good size the yard is a full acre. She sleeps on my bed. Never goes in the house. Only aggressive at night well socialized. Also the vet advice I think is over-stated. Usually just letting her know by words and attitude what behavior is undesirable is enough for her. She loves everyone make no mistake if family is threatened I’d say she can be lethal human bones are probably weaker than stuff she crushes daily.

    • Hi my name is kevin Kelly. I asked a question regarding dog aggression I purchased a dogo pup and he is coming next week. I have always had American bulldogs in the past. And with all my males I have dealt with pretty severe dog aggression and with one people aggression he was a rare case I understand that now about him. But my goal for dogo is to be a family member first and an asset to my household as I work overnights twice a week. I know he will protect my family which I great but I don't want him to be a liability to my family or like the last American did attack one of my sons. So I was looking for advice on how to accomplish this. I have lined up obedience training already for him and I have agreed to fix him at some point ( also looking for advice on when) and I would like to train him as a good k 9 citizen or something. Basically my goal for him is a companion on hikes and runs and outdoor family events. He will come hunting with me from time to time but as a companion I don't need him as a catch dog. The most important thing is I want a dog I can take Everywhere with me who is stable Thanks for your time please excuse my typing I am on my phone in gym parking lot. Thanks Kevin m kelly Kevinmkellyelectric1@hotmail.com I tried emailing you but for some reason kept getting returned

However, any dog can be taught new tricks you just need to see what motivates that specific dog - - Whether it’s food or exercise or affection, or some other thing, you just need to find the thing.

  • My AmStaff-Dogo mix hates water XD.... but he's sweet when I bathe him because he loves the shampoo/massage....but he sure as heck wouldn't go swimming with me. But yes....as a puppy, he destroyed numerous pairs of shoes, couch cushions, pillows, comforters, ( I have to work full time....so he was alone and bored...) as an owner who is empathetic, I already understood that boredom and loneliness can suck and any kid (dog, human, goat, cat...) is likely to cause a little havoc. So I fixed the messes, trained him not to mess with shoes (couldn't train him when it comes to pillows because his dog toys are pretty much stuffed animals and it's all the same to him). I just make sure that he's in an area that he's allowed to be roudy in when I'm not home. He and his Cane Corso companion have their own bedroom in the house and they both have a large backyard for when I'm home to supervise them. They are both adults now, but I still put down pee pads too...because it IS unfair to expect a dog to hold it in for more than 4 hours. They both weed all over the house when they were babies (despite my efforts to crate train, take them out right after eating, walk every two hours, make outside access available full time... puppies just take time. The Cane Corso almost 6 months to gain good bladder and bowel control, my Staff-Dogo took about 4 months...but would pee on people when he got excited lol! ) as adults...they make sure to ask to go outside...and if I'm not home, they make sure to go on the pads. It's just like respecting another person or a child. It's not fair to blame them instead of yourself when you don't consider consequences for the circumstances you put them in. Animal ownership is indeed a form of parenting. I've made a few of these mistakes, but I was definitely willing to make adjustments to keep the animal safe and loved.

  • posted this on Zak's George youth page : challenges :- 1, the stray dog as well as pet population in India, along with that uncontrolled viruses and diseases etc ticks dayum, pet parent awareness, them not socialising their pets or training the stray as well as keeping them clean an healthy 2. he is an intimidating looking breed however very gentle with all human beings specially oldies and kids, Thanks to ur socialisation techniques, but that really doesn't help even though my dog is cool, how do I bring a positive awareness change in humans, I stay in a gated colony with ample space and children parks, kids love him, and he plays nice with everyone, butt I can't control screaming aunties when they see a massive dog running towards them either chasing me on my MTB or a squirrel nearby the aunty soaking in the sun 3. I travel, run and Hike and fly , Trail bike and stay away from home for at least 9 months in an year and he usually stays and exercises with me pretty much every morning, at least 5-6 km of running without fail or more, I know coz I Garmin track it enough background I assume , now some challenges 1. I never did his crate training, so he sleeps with me on my bed, I find It cool too, but lately he is gaining weight and I am losing sleep coz he hugs me and sleeps, always liked sleeping in my bigbed, and bad with the ladies in my life so yeah never minded him, but I thinking right that this I going to be a challenge when he reaches his max weight, is it ok to begin his crate training now, as I don't want him to feel that I am abandoning him, he is a sensitive one 2. Separation issues, sometimes I have to go to my workplace, or party night with frnds, I am mostly a digital nomad, however I want him to feel relaxed with other member of the family and not think he is abandoned, he helps an cries for good 10min, pick up a pillow to project his anger and goes to my bed and sleeps, family members keep him fed and potty trained etc 3. he is socialised well with dogs but sometimes he goes crazy mad with this one specific German shepherd, no reason, even I am unable to crack it 4. knows pretty much every dog in the colony and is nice with them, if they are not moving much, but if they see him and they start to run, he will chase them till they are invisible from his perspective, and at that point he dent listen as well 5. I make him run off leash chasing my mountain bike, he runs quite well for the majority of the time, thinks we are chasing squirrels together, sometimes he follows me, sometime I follow him and find a new trail, the only problem with this is, sometimes I point to a trail communicating that this is where the squirrel might be , and complete a trail, however, I think my energy on the bike is converted to his hunting drive , so whenever I bike slow, he is nice and calm, but when I am riding fast, he thinks its a hunt, which I don't want tbh, I want it convert as a play or work if not anything else, he knows pretty much all the commands that I have taught him, but prefers his brain and will to do it or not :D which Is cute too 6. working with a breeds bad rep in the community like india 7. eventually take my training to a dog show level, these were few challenges I think your viewers in India do not have the capability to tackle it, and we are battling primitive cruel methods of training in the market as well as awareness

    • Today i have found an abandoned Dogo Argentino (not sure) around 5-6 years. She is well behaved, not microchipped so i am not able to find her owners. She's very sad and depressed. Please tell me what to do as this is my first time with a senior dog.
