people complained about the plains biome being too flat? that's literally what it is, it's a grassy plain, basically a minecraft version of the Steppe, it's supposed to be flat and relatively featureless
Now, you can't build anything in minecraft because it's not flat anywhere. idk who mojang listens to.
@@Thomas_Angelo ahhh yes because you can only build on flat ground 🤦♂
@@skydemon3423 It's way harder. I am a creative person but whenever it comes to minecraft house, either cave or square.
@@Thomas_Angelo sounds like a skill issue
@@skydemon3423 It is. I was literally implying that.
saying horses are useless because of elytra is like saying iron is useless because of diamond
Facts. But i would still rather walk since transporting a horse arcoss water is a pain.
@@michalmiroslavmendel3589this is actually true. It only works in a world with a lot of infrastructure.
Both brick textures should be included. The one brighter for "residential" use and the darker one would still be netter for "industrual" builds
what brick houses have you seen haha 😂. if anything the new brick texture is still more colourful than the bricks you may see in reality.
The new brick is more realistic
Our house has similar color bricks to the newer texture, actually@@watchingaccount
does anyone build houses with brick...?
@@matthewbarabas3052irl? Yes. In MC? No
Yeah... a lot of this is boiling down to nostalgia lol. There are some good points, like the ones that actually affect the gameplay or are just nice quality of life stuff, but programmer art is still there, and there's resource packs like Golden Days that revert things back even further. You can just use resource packs to fix half of these problems.
"Downgrade" feels like a strong word for most of these..
welcome to youtube. hyperbole is the name of the game
no, downgrade the perfect word to use, The logo, ore update
yeah, more like youtubers bitching about new things because they cant stand people improving their favorite game.
yeah i feel like mistake is a much better word
@@politelydarkiscoolthe ore update is fine
most of these are so minor or just flat out opinions framed as fact

the farlands looked so cool... sad that it is gone now
@@johntrimble8689agreed
they're even canonized in the minecraft story games!
Now that's a name i haven't heard in a long time. @@danielwilson8604
You can still find them if you play Old Minecraft in the launcher.
the farlands look so cool
7:36 Diamonds are still useful to this day, mainly because you can trade them to villagers for emeralds and also because you can duplicate armour trims
And also you need diamond armour for netherite armour
@@hananelf1304 ik but skip already mentioned it
so diamonds are useful because… you can trade them for a different ore, or make more of a decorative item…
@@lilharm > Emeralds = Easy OP equipment and enchantment. > Aesthetics is one of the integral aspects of Minecraft, I fail to understand how making decorative items isn't useful.
Literally just have a lot of farmer villagers and farm a lot of everything, you can get more than a stack of emeralds by trading a near full inventory of beetroots ( the least demanding farm trade) and you can fix mending items decently fast this way too, how is using a technically finite item ( I know the diamond tools are renewable, I keep track of like 150 villagers.) when you could just save it or use it to make copies of upgrade templates too.
If you name a villager Dr. trayaurus, it should get the old librarian texture

4:39 that horse in the bottom right isn’t doing so good
I REALLY wish they kept the farlands, they’re such an interesting glitch. The idea of the world literally beginning to rot away as it can’t handle itself is so fascinating.
diamonds are quite literally more useful now than they ever have been, and yes I know I fell for the engagement bait
Oh, that means I did too
The made the horse simpler to match the aesthetic of the other mobs, since the horse originally had a lot more 'cubes' which could make the game lag as well
In Bedrock Edition there's actually a skinpack that features versions of the Biomes and Settlers skins for the Farlands that are all misshaped and whatnot. So the Farlands haven't been left behind, just that it's not skins inba Biomes and Settlers skin pack for Bedrock Editon.
the farlands actually existed in bedrock up until 1.17, even now there are some things similar to the farlands. So the skins and farlands coexisted for a few years.
The old nether texture wasn’t good but I don’t think the new one is much better. It just isn’t as scary.
Tbh I loved the old netherack texture. It looks like gore and made the nether way more hellish. I just wish it was a more unique block instead of being the main one. Like we could of just had some sort of redish dirt and netherack be found in nether fortress dungeons
@@BronzedBeast it was an eyesore to have a full dimension of it
I saw someone put both the old and the new texture together. Cobbled Netherrack maybe?
The reason numerical ID's were removed was because of a glitch that allowed you to transform any block into any other block (in game) by using certain redstone contraptions that affect the ID of the block this allowed for infinite diamonds and other blocks.
Sorry but numerical IDs were a terrible way to store them. Using identifiers in its place allows modders to not worry about compatibility issues and also means your worlds can be safely converted between versions without worrying about your buildcraft pipes turning into sand or whatever. Maybe you can't place still lava or portals anymore, maybe try using worldedit or something idk. The flattening was an overall good thing from an _actually technical perspective_
I think Wool blocks should be dye-able like Leather Armor, with millions of different combinations for every color possible
I personally think diamonds now have a wider range of uses. Great thought tho.
What are its uses then?
@@3amPizzaRolls Templates.
@@thatshrian ohhh honestly still not enough for them not to be a downgrade
The problem with diamonds is not that they are useless, it's just that they are a lot easier to obtain nowadays, with more than half of the structures being able to have diamonds as loot, and villagers trading enchanted diamond stuff. Also, diamond gear is no longer the best, so it kind of takes away some more value to it
@@themightypotato83 Oh I see.
Okay... the new brick textures are way better. Each individual brick is a bit rounded, which along with the more realistic saturation goes a long way
i unsubed just so see the rainbow lol
Another downgrade was you can’t tame bunnies anymore! They were such cute pets!
8:58 this guy thinking color blindness means you see in black and white is so funny
Achromatopsia is indeed a type of colorblindness when you only see white, grey and black
@@opalyon extremely rare compared to other way more common types of color blindness. most color blind people can differentiate most colors and only have trouble with a few colors.
Nostalgia must be hitting hard on everybody recently I keep getting reccommendations of "hey remember this old feature" and "playing minecraft but its ??? version" and i cant stop wacthing em
Skip is the kind of KZheadr to have fans that comment "I liked my own comment 🗿"
The problem of being popular by kids.
Together, we are Kumalala.
I personally like the "sad" brick we have now. Makes it easier to use it in builds.
As someone that is color blind, I have to say. Iron and Copper piss me off.
I used to try travel to the farlands everytime... i never got there😂
19:00 Iron Golems still give out flowers to villagers.
There's no way you think the old plank and brick textures are better.
I think "magic water" that works in the Nether would be an amazing late game thing.
I wish they didn't remove the horse's jaw.
Fun fact: In Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Steve's Classic Mode route is named "Journey to the Farlands". Mr. Sakurai cares more about Minecraft's roots than even Mojang at this point, and that's crazy.
People say diamonds are useless because they added netherite, but no ones stopping you from just not using netherite or not buying diamond armour from villagers. Minecraft is a sandbox game after all
For me diamonds are still the best item for armor and tools. The time it takes to create a full set of netherite armor and tools isn't worth the effort. Netherite just isn't giving enough back to invest time to look for it. If I happen to find some, I'll take it, but searching for it makes no sense to me.
6:24 is no one gonna talk abt the 973 pieces of glass in skips inventory?
Man is passionate about glass, I guess.
Lol I guess
1:02 i mean by that logic minecraft should have never had any updates because some people still play classic

On point 4, the optimization issue has been a thing since the REALLY old update where they added the lan features
18:55 Why did they remove that feature? It was always so cute seeing that little Studio Ghibli reference with the Iron Golems.
Diamonds mining is a lot more fun than trading
I like the darker brick texture more. The older texture was too bright in my opinion to build good looking buildings.
Who misses the white coat villager😔
I disagree. The old textures of the bricks were even worse. Bricks are not used often now, but more often than before. (although almost everyone used to play with texture packs, so that older players could use bricks in their buildings, I meant that bricks were rarely used by vanilla texture users)
wasnt sword blocking just a visual effect? i dont recall that ever actually reducing damage or anything
I think most of us will disagree with you.

True!
number one: microsoft buying the game
What number two?
@@kikolife1234 this comment makes no sense im sorry please explain it better
Again, the elytra comes too late for me, and I more often would use a horse.
18:58 YES THEY DO STILL OFFER FLOWERS TO VILLAGERS
I never thought I'd see the day when gold was more useful than diamonds.
id say diamonds are even more useful now because you need them to replicate the smithing templates and netherite templates, and I dont mind missing the days of endlessly strip mining.
8:59 that grayscale was a great point against the exact thing you're saying
i'm an old folk and imo pretty much every single new texture is better than it's older counterpart
Honestly, I never liked the dark outlines items had. The first thing I did when I made my texture pack in 2012 was edit them out
"downgrades" lol
Definitely picking the newer bricks over the old one. Just because older textures have more saturation doesn't make it more visually appealing. Ask any builder.
About the only thing that I agree with on this list is that I preferred the old horse model, but you know, now a days, I don't even think about it.
Villager/village redesigns should’ve never existed, they scarred my childhood of Minecraft!
Back in the day you could make notch apples, I started right at the end of alpha
Played since then
I actually really miss the linear caves rather than the massive open spaces
Quick adding to your point about the addition of hunger. We couldn't sprint before that update.
The old use of food should be in bedrock since in bedrock you regenerate so slowly

Yeah, I see that new tutorial thingie in the top right corner, he's playing on a newer version, lol
18:15 Yeah honestly if the nether trees having them isn't serving the EXPLICIT POINT of letting us get tons of wart easy then the blocks should be renamed and made uncraftable.
i will die on this hill the new textures are FARRR better than the old ones i started playing in 1.8
I started playing around the time _beds_ were added and I agree with you
I agree 🫵😁
i started playing in 1.7.3
I agree. I started in 1.7.10, and the reason why people think the textures were better is nostalgia.
I played in 1.12 and i agree. the textures were atrocious
Bedrock has something similar to void fog where your screen gets dimmer and a black outline goes around it
You can still get the debug stick, I use it all the time
12:00 Honestly, trapped chests only feel useful for receiving an "on open" command, though I think a cool use would be to integrate it with how it interacts with hoppers more
Ngl, I like the newer brick better. As a person who likes to build it's important to think about Contrast to make a building come together. The old brick stands out too much perhaps compared to the dulled down newer version.
Old Minecraft in general used brighter, saturated, high contrast colors. Modern minecraft prefers dull and more mundane colors
Iron golems: "If i cant have a rose. No one can"
There should be a feature where you can clean the brick block it make it less depressing.
Some many many years in the past, pre-war even, entity cramming wasnt even a thing allowing you to cram a rediculous number of entities into a space and essentially make an entity cannon as with entities such as cows (wose hitbox is pretty large) would push you near instantaneously while giving you some incredible momentum.
I disagree with like, more than half of these, HOW IS THE OLD BRICK TEXTURE BETTER???
I definitely prefer old texture aswell
I am here to say I use Programmer Art + any texturepacks that make fixes.
4:10 skip you should also mention that when the player is in survival there are darkened edges that make your image overall darker, and if you go into spectator they disappear
you can turn that off
Most of these are just pure nostalgia or "I wish I could exploit the system again." Neither are good for everyone.
The old villages and villagers should've been kept in as a rare version of the villagers and villages
I remember the six sided piston was used as a chest in minecraft hunger games

I actually miss old Neather wastes. I wish they’d bring it back for a biome. Just wastes. Spawns a ton of ghasts.
nether wastes are still there genius
#55 might be by far the biggest downgrade. To this day I can't understand why custom world generation was removed. We had the ability to craft the perfect level for our personal experience, which is the essence of a sandbox game. But they had to literally remove the "level editor" tool, this is nonsensical. I recall their given reason was people not using it enough. What a stupid excuse.
I really want the customize settings back! It’d be really cool and useful!
My favourite version of minecraft is 1.13 because thats when my ocean and aquatic adventure began. Seriously, i would just build a big redstone boat and call myself a pirate
ok, you do you
when it comes to netherwart everyone always says "save them for your potions" .... am I the only one who uses 99% of their netherwart for red netherbrick?
We should make so the brick texture is a compromise, not basically gray but not super saturated red
Which has already happened in the form of the 1.7-1.13 brick texture.
Old food was basically equivalent of healing potion tbh.
I remember 1.18 was the point mojang just lost me. It's not minecraft after that update. Just a mere impostor of a once great creation
You missed the biggest Minecraft downgrade of all: The introduction of player reporting.
MC19.84 /s
Literally didnt effect the game and most people have already forgotten it existed, like have you ever seen someone say that they got banned, in the 2 years that it has existed mabye like 2 players got banned for like 2 days
Where the heck are people finding so many ACTUALLY FLAT plains biomes that they’re complaining. I, for the life of me, CAN’T FIND any plains on latest versions, that aren’t actually weird cliffs or bumpy hills.
there is no way you genuinely think the og brick texture was better
I've been playing since 1.6 and I don't even remember the different wool or horse textures
Golems still do give flowers man, 1.20.1 and just seen one doing it
