  • Wow! That was very gracious and beautiful of Bernard to say that about the possible knockdowns; fully saying and admitting that Jean slipped, but also admitting that if the referee asked him, then yes Jean was knocked down. I think that is beautiful and very admirable of Bernard to fully say and admit that straight up like that for real; u never hear or see that from anyone anymore now days for sure. Bernard was never one of my favorite fighters, but just like they said after the decision was read, you have to respect him and what he has done, and I definitely do.

  • I used to watch the Pavlik fight when I wanted to remenber that an old men can win a world class fight if he is disciplined and expirenced enough. This is the second time I watch this fight. Is the best of Bernard Hopkins career & history of boxing. Is an inspiration to believe that is never too late. God bless the legendary Bernard Hopkins and this great great great sport ❤️🙏

  • Hopkins has an extremely high boxing IQ. He waited until Pascal burned a lot of energy from throwing punches, so that his right could damage pascal in the third round. Pascal wouldn’t have gotten stunned, if he was more fresh. This strategy also made Pascal more cautious, which allowed Hopkins to break him down over time. Pascal’s youth was no longer a factor.

  • "Twenty-three years in professional boxing, Bernard Hopkins' whole career is a tribute to the advantages of being made, not born. Throughout his career, his opposite number was the great Roy Jones. He was never brought into the sport with the kinds of gifts that Jones enjoyed. He didn't have all that physical talent. We saw that when first they met in 1993. Bernard had to learn every detail. He had to master the craft, and he did it like no one else in his generation. We saw that when he fought Jones again last year and dominated him just as completely as Jones had dominated him in '93. With what's made, not born, you can last a long, long time, particularly if you live a monastic life, if you don't drink, you don't smoke, you eat the right things, you train as clearly and cleanly as you can. Everything about that defines Bernard Hopkins," Jim Lampley, 12th round of this fight.

    @ssinternational7177@ssinternational71776 жыл бұрын
  • Yes, the ref mistakenly did not open the count, though Pascal was clearly knocked down. And I wonder why the independent referee gave round 2 to Pascal, when on my card it was Hopkin's by a gross margin? The guys did almost nothing during the first two rounds. No way Kovalev will give Pascal this luxury. Pascal will find himself under a barrage form the very first minute and will definitely be gassed by the champion's rounds. He missed several devastating punches from Hopkins and could survive. If he misses the same from Kovalev he will be down and out very soon. Frankly I don't see how Pascal can resist Kovalev's power, precision, the barrage of hooks, body shots, straight right. Bookmakers know their work, making Pascal an 1:4 underdog against Kovalev. I am with them. After seeing this match would even say it would be 1:5 against Pascal. If Stevenson at least has a long reach and a terrible left, Pascal does not have these trumps under his sleeve. He's shorter, has poorer coordination, poorer arsenal of punches, poorer timing, no chances. Actually neither of the two Haitians has any big chances against Kovalev, but Beterbiev certainly does.

    • thats true, it was more or less the old adage that if you just try harder and harder on a fruitless endeavor it would eventually turn around. and if it is an obviously fruitless endeavor as bernard began to show in the later rounds when he began to get a better sense of timing for pascal's movements and rushes, then his corner should have started advising on different movements, changing the target, dictating a different pace. but you really didn't hear much of that. the pascal plan was to simply shock bernard with a series of energy bursts during each round thinking that bernard would not be able to handle it.
