      @MrMarco855@MrMarco8557 жыл бұрын
    • MrMarco855 kovalev doesn't exactly count as a white boy that much. I know people think that he comes from a good wealthy family like calzaghe, but he doesn't. This guy was a bad ass criminal. He was in a gang and did stuff like bhop did. So don't exactly put him in that white boy born with a silver spoon bracket. Like hatton or calzaghe. Hattons parents had money and he decided to box. He was OK but not elite.

      @brianticas6909@brianticas69097 жыл бұрын
    • I don't look at it that way. Kovalev is white, that's what I see. Bernard made the racist rant, he used the expression white boy. I'm sure Hopkins considers Kovalev a white guy. Hopkins was addressing Calzaghe when he made the remark, and I think he would consider Calzaghe, Kovalev and Joe Smith to be white boys. What do those 3 white boys have in common? They all beat Hopkins ass. Frankly, I was shocked to hear Bernard make that comment. he's the oldest fossil in the sport, yet he uses an idiotic, hateful insult for all the young guys to see. after using a racist comment, he goes off pon joe smith with some self-serving bullshit. I've never seen anyone act like that. the fat that this was his 2nd 'attack' tells me that Bernard may need some help. I've been watching some of his interviews and he goes off in one direction or the other every time. if he's not being racist., he's insulting Smith while putting himself on a throne. He has so much pride that it's embarrassing. can you imagine any of the great fighters other than Bernard, saying shit like he do. he's up there yelling, I'm special'. That's not only a sinful ego talking, but an ignorant statement as well. He's not 'special' unless a large majority of fans said that if a poll was taken. He can say it loud and often, but that means that he believes it and nobody else. there are those that agree I'm sure, but it's a shameful thing to tell everyone how special he is. I've never seen anyone with all the issues that Bernard has. After the Floyd/Pacquiao fight, he quickly made a statement, calling Pacquiao a liar re: his shoulder injury. He also said that Pacquiao tried to make an excuse for losing, so Bernard berated him for not taking the loss liker a man. The problem is that Bernard lied about every detail. He either lied about everything or didn't check it out before talking. All of Floyd's fans have said the same thing because Floyd said it after the fight. Floyd lied and his fans repeat everything he says. I challenge any fan of Floyd; go to the after -fight interview between Pacquiao and Max Kellerman. Max asked him a dumb question about why he lost. This is what Pacquiao said; I think I won the fight. Max said,......how did you win the fight? Pac said,...... he didn't do anything. Max asked why Pac didn't have his usual offensive output. That was Pacquiao's statement, mentioned about his shoulder. Floyd is a liar.

  • At first I figured Hopkins was gonna win another 12 round decision, but when I learned John David Jackson would be in Kovalev's corner, I gave him a chance to win. There's an old saying: Familiarity breeds strategy. John David Jackson had trained with Hopkins, fought him, and worked in his corner (he knows knows Hopkins intimately to where he knew exactly what was needed to beat a Bernard Hopkins). When you have that kind of knowledge of someone, you have a great edge

    • Hopkins best defense is his reputation for ramming his head into the opponents face. Every opponent has to guard against that dirty shit first and foremost. That's exactly why Kovalev fought very cautiously and didn't knock Hopkins out. Clearly Kovalev could have knocked Bernard out one minute into the first round. He played it safe and smart, because he refused to be another Hopkins victim of head hockey. When Kovalev finally got busy in the last round, Hopkins was within a punch of going nite- nite. The commentators should be embarrassed of their horrible act. They praised Hopkins because they said he was taking the shots,.....then for the last rounds they constantly criticized kovalev for trying to knock the hell out of Hopkins. I'm going to replay to count the number of times they said kovalev wasn't being smart and was playing into Hopkins strategy. Roy jones insisted Hopkins will surely knock him out because he was giving Hopkins the chance to do that. With 10 seconds left in the fight, jones said Hopkins id going to knock him out. How about this; leave kovalev alone and let him fight the way he feels. He beat the hell out of hopkins all night, then was critisized 100 times by the commentators. Why don't they convene before the fight, write a script for each round and give that to kovalev? This was the most nauseating sucking up since malignaggi hugged broner's balls after getting spanked..........

  • Hopkins is a legend and he has good skills and a great chin, but this was full survival mode he didn't really open up much at all and Kovalev didn't go for the kill often (until the end). It's hard to KO somebody sometimes when they just do not want to fight you. Kovalev learned a lot from this win even though it was easy. He's better at cutting off the ring now.

  • Roy Jones is an all-around good guy. He was a legendary fighter and he's good as a commentator as well. I have a bit of a complaint in this fight however. After Hopkins went down in round#1, Roy pointed out that Hopkins becomes more dangerous and could KO kovalev if he's not careful. A valid point at the time, but Roy continued saying that in every round and 3 or 4 times in the last round. With less then 10 seconds remaining in the fight and Bernard taken a beating, Roy still warned that Bernard is dangerous so Sergey better be careful. It was still possible I suppose, but maybe at 1000 to 1 odds with 10 seconds left. I'm not sure that Roy was being realistic in that situation, I don't think that Hopkins had the power at 49 to drop Kovalev to begin with. He landed several hard shots during the fight, none of which hurt Kovalev in the least. I think Roy was feeling a little nostalgic about his former opponent because I've never heard anyone still warning with 10 seconds left and a 49 year old fighter at that,..,.....that a beaten down fighter is still capable or likely to KO anyone.

    • And if Ward had fought a young (prime, pre-drinking problems) Kovalev, Kovalev would have beaten Ward, and then you wouldn't be using Ward's "win" over Kovalev as an example for why prime BHop would have beaten him. In truth, none of us know who would have won any of those matchups in each guy's prime. It's why boxing is so frustrating as a sport for refusing to make these fights when guys are at their peaks. Obviously with Kovalev-Hopkins, that wasn't possible, but it sure was with Kovalev-Ward, but Ward and HBO seemed like they wanted to wait for the right moment to ensure Ward would come out on top, which they did. Easy to do when you have spies in Kovalev's camp, which Ward's team admitted to having. They will tell you the right time to fight a guy, they will tell you the moment he's no longer at his best.
