I never thought to name a cat Sultan, and until now, didn’t realize how utterly perfect a name it is for a cat. They behave like royalty anyhow.

Cat memes say they are like this, but in my experience actual cats are not like this, actual cats are just hopelessly lonely and well-meaning creatures, they are not independent and they are not jerks, they don't act like royalty or presume to own the place or to be the masters, they don't try to cause trouble or be a nuisance, though they do also want to be personally involved with anything I do, are curious about trying any food their master is eating and deciphering the true meaning of what is on their master's computer screen.

You can just tell how friendly Sultan is by the light taps without claws. I’m so impressed by Cairo’s restraint towards a much smaller mate. They’re both so gentle with each other.

Cairo’s gentle behaviour towards Sultan was incredible to see. His gentle mouthing of the cats legs, paws and face seemed to be from a place of friendship and consideration of not wanting to cause his new friend any pain. Watching two completely different animals able to overlook each other’s differences makes me wonder why humanity seems incapable of doing something similar or basic?!
We're much more complicated species, there's nothing to do for us to change that so that's why humans don't go along like animals do. And even as animals, we didn't behave like most animals do today.

I'm always delighted to see even large dogs handle smaller family members of any species delicately. Dogs tend to naturally form packs/families, and are very often welcoming of "outsiders" into the pack, regardless of species. There can be some "language barriers" if the other members are not dogs, but they are not insurmountable. Cats are for the most part solitary creatures, but they are social with neighbouring cats when given the opportunity, and can easily form a pack when many of them occupy the same territory. If they are introduced calmly, as seen in this video, they can obviously get along very well. As for humans... we too form communities, with familial bonds within the group. Like other group-forming creatures, we tend to be suspicious and fearful towards those we consider to be outside the group. Unfortunately, too few people seem to use their intelligence and higher reasoning to consider if that fearfulness is warranted or not, but rather go with a gut reaction to shut others out. I'm happy to hear that your father was one of those who do use their evolutionary advantage to overcome unhelpful instincts.

It's much more the strength of every single participant's will and of the hammer that is pounding on it fiercely. Always has been.
Cairo is so gentle! He puts Sultan’s whole leg in his mouth but doesn’t bite down. You’ve got a real gentleman there.

What's funny about this is because the dog is so soft, the cat is too! I have never seen a cat play so gently.

If a dog is socialized well, they won't bite any living creatures after their adult teeth growing (they used to bite just because their gum was itchy when their baby teeth came out). True, they open their mouth when playing (usually with another dog), but not bitting. On this video i find the cat is more amazing, because he's so gentle to the dog while mostly cat got freak out and could attack the dog without any triggers. But again its all depends on the breed. I found Maine Coon or BSH could be as gentle as Golden Retriever or Beagle towards another animals.

It's interesting that the owner was obviously a dog lover first, so he doesn't pick up on cat body language. Near the start, the cat's tail is waving in a relaxed way that shows he wants to play. He's not nervous, or he wouldn't get into play mood. And when he sleeps with his belly up, that means he's already trusting the dog. Cats only do that when they feel safe.
Such regal names for these two furry angels. Their friendship is inspirational.
Even at the beginning, Cairo was "biting" SO softly. That's a good dog right there...

Why is considering the "dogs needs" good but not considering all those other pets in cages right now hoping to be adopted? That dog has a home and good family. He can deal with and adapt to having another pet in the house.
It was smart of the fellow to think of a cat companion, since cats are natural supervisors and are good at figuring out how good dogs can be with a little training so the dog doesn't worry so much. I can see them working together in case something happens in the home, like catching a burglar they can terrify and chase away before nap time.

I had a Shiba and she LOVED cats! She thought every cat she saw was her friend...she found out the hard way that was not true. Two weeks after I adopted her (she was 8 years old) we brought a 3 year old cat into the house and they slept in the same dog bed that night and every night after. I love those little dogs, stubborn but also very sweet.
This is enough serotonin for a while. Thank you to that man, the dog , the cat and all the people responsible for putting this so that I can see it. ❤
He just needed his special one kitty. That's his energy level. Two is definitely one too many. They look so happy together that it's a delight to see them play :)

I had a border collie who was lonely after his buddy (a Labrador X) had passed away. I adopted a little ginger kitten and within days they were in love! They would play just like this, too cute!

These two are made for each other. They both play in a very similar fashion, and you can tell the just mesh.
I am really surprised at this outcome considering how Shiba’s are known to be notoriously territorial and a really challenging breed to deal with.
@T Pop He also seems surprisingly calm and paitiant for a Shiba. They tend to get pretty grumpy.

Indeed. Shibas can be a bit peculiar, but far from antisocial. On the contrary, they need a lot of attention and training, which is why they're not recommended for first-time dog owners.
I had 30 years ago when nobody had them and shibas are wonderful dogs I had a cat with my Shiba
@@zefft.f4010 I would definitely agree that they're not for first-time dog owners. We got a shiba for our first dog, and we were lucky because he was so well-behaved even when he first got him at 12 weeks (still got trained, though). They're very independent, almost like a cat.

Those are gentle love nibbles. My shiba Loki does those exact nibbles when playing with me. You definitely can tell Cairo is playing gently and with affection for his kitten. ^_^ so sweet. My Loki is an attention seeker too. He has an older brother a Tibetan spaniel play with. Even let’s the little guy pin him down even though he could easily over power him. Shibas are such sweet dogs
