I brew tea from chaga on a folding stove. I use spruce resin as fuel. Later I organize a natural shelter under the uprooted root of a fallen tree. I make a bow saw from a spruce branch and preparing a taiga fire - nodya.
For dinner I make field bread and meat in bacon.
I am try my first attempts to learn how to play the jew's harp (or khomus?).

  • A lot of questions are asked about how I shoot video alone. Would you be interested in watching a separate video about the filming process? If so, what points should be paid more attention to? Write in the comments :)

    @AsbjornOlsenBergBushcraft@AsbjornOlsenBergBushcraft2 жыл бұрын
    • My opinion is that making a movie about a movie is superfluous. When a person knows how a movie is made, the movie itself ceases to be interesting. You have a very good connection - plot, acting and of course shooting on R6. This is your uniqueness. If everyone shoots in the same way, the uniqueness will be lost. In general, "my respect" continue in the same spirit ...

  • This is amazing work. But what people may not realize is the extremely hard work of filming it all. Camera setup. Filming a movie. Then you go back to pick up your camera and clean myself up again. And then edit it all together. I myself have recently started making videos about bushcraft, so I really understand how hard it is. A beautifully made video shows that you really love what you do. Greetings from Belarus!

    • Hello Belarus! Thanks. Yes, you're absolutely right - it's not an easy work. It requires a significant investment of time, thoughtful action, preparation and concentration. That's why I do it alone. I am completely focused. Be healthy and success bushcraft filming to you :)

    • It's all recreation. I think his protectiveness of his camera gear shows in the many shots without gloves. He'd probably be wearing gloves in more shots, except he needs bare hands to start and stop the camera and possibly protect it, between shots. Most of my times in similar settings, the time fiddling with camera would be time hunting or fishing.

  • Winter is a magical and fabulous time of the year, the whole natural world froze in a deep sleep. The cold forest sleeps, covered with a white fur coat, you can’t hear the animals, they hide in their minks, they wait out the long winter, only a few go out to hunt. Only wind and snowstorm, eternal companions of winter.

    @vadim_546@vadim_5462 жыл бұрын
    • I agree, winter is a good season. Not far from the camp I saw fresh tracks of an elk and a fox. I didn't even hear them :)

    • @@AsbjornOlsenBergBushcraft Today I posted a video where I showed a fox hole. I know if this is a male, I saw him personally. He's pretty big for a fox. In winter, animal tracks are clearly visible and this makes the forest even more interesting.

    • @@AsbjornOlsenBergBushcraft It is actually more difficult to do a camping video with no dialogue. The focus is on the activity, the sounds, the sequence of things. The quallity of editing is higher because those videos with dialogue usually just have one scene and them talking. Not that is necessarily a bad thing, just easier to do. A quality camping video with no dialogue (like this one), needs more thought and direction. I miss nature. And in nature, there is no talking. Just you and nature...... This is why it feels more like you are there when you watch it. Great job. Appreciate your efforts for us viewers who can't get away.

  • Piece of art. Soothing and relaxing. Makes you appreciate civilization but also makes you want to venture what it is like and what it takes to go back in time and face the fierce nature just to be able to sleep warm for one cold night. Humans are truly gifted to have come that far and coexist with the rough forces of nature. Great job!

Will think about video showing us "how you do it" - at the moment, like an earlier comment - while I understand as a former film director and editor, generally how you work - it is your incredible art that should remain your truth,, let all just appreciate the magic of your work.

  • Amazing wood's man you are. I hope that our Naive Americans were as skilled with all kinds of shellers as you are. Brilliant idea relative to the long logs for burning. You can see how much the snow shoes held you up over the deep snow - great illustraion of tha when you took one of and took a step into he deep snow. Creation of he snowshoes was also amazing to watch them develop. Again total control over the elements in your environment - which twigs are green and flexible, which are dry and breakable. How you plan the camera angles and get the cameras in place, then retreat into the scene to shoot it should, in my opinion remain part of he beauty of watching you - WITHOUT a video demonstration of how you do it.

    @pKbasten@pKbasten2 жыл бұрын
    • If you are talking about Native Americans from the US, and indigenous peoples everywhere, of course they were skilled. They survived winters and built their shelters as a lifestyle not a one night camping trip. It was survival for them.
