Really like this detail guy’s way of being and sharing, he’s easy to listen to and presents well. Thanks for including him and his knowledge
Thx
Watched your whole video. I have the same blue. It’s so easy to see dirt on it but when you wash it, it’s such a deep rich blue. I learned a lot of things from you guys that I’ve adopted into my own wash routine. Keep it up
Love the video. Thanks for all the pro tips. I wish the shop is closer to So Ca.
The best video for cleaning a Tesla, and explanation on how each product is to be used, etc.
Thanks for the acceleration boost video -- I ended up buying it after watching your video. This was a great video too. So many pro tips!
Another awesome, informative vid! Great dynamic between these 2 Tesla lovers. The PPF, Ceramic Coating and tint videos were also great.
Extremely valuable video! Dude really does know his stuff.
I have been watching many car detailing videos, Best video I have come across so far specific to Teslas, keep it up! Pro tips are awesome. Washing back at the end is a key learning. ‘Front is a Bug cemetery’ 😂😂😂. Any similar products for All purpose spray in Australia?
Grant rocks. Saving this video to my favorites for when I take delivery of my MY..!!
Thanks so much!!! Congrats on the new MY!
another great video! Thanks for the awesome Content!
Great video and pro tips! I just got my Tesla and shoot if I knew about Menard's I could of taken delivery there , get my PPF and take a road trip back to CA. I hope when you said you are opening other locations and the west coast location will be in So Cal!
Thanks for the great video! I have a question. How do you wash the underbody, particularly after winter?
Very good/entertaining video, thanks!!
I’ve been using a wet rag and we have the pearl white paint job in the new 2023 and it just comes off like butter
Nice! Great video and tips.
Thanks Rob!! Hope this helps!
Even in the Netherlands I now know how to wash my new car with care 🚗 ❤ great instructions!
Excellent tips, always something new to learn. Thanks for sharing
Great Video. Lots of great information. Thanks. What do you recommend for cleaning the interior? EliXlr and InnerQD -- what are these and what are they for? I want something for bugs and what do I use for keeping the interior dust free?
Awesome video, would one day hope to bring my car to Grant’s shop. These tips will help for now, good stuff guys!
Great customer service I live in DC and take delivery June-July and they guys were so nice and informative plan to get my wrap done the next day can’t wait 😛
Cannot wait to see it and transform the look Niya!!!
This guy can upsell the best of them
Hello James you are the man, I agree everyone should LOVE teslas.
great video, but rims are wet, what to do with that?
Great vid. Would be good to see something similar for the interior cleaning, especially the glass. I have terrible trouble cleaning Model 3 rear screen as it's so difficult to reach.
In the works.
What does he recommend for cleaning the interior? Another great video opportunity:)
My MYP has front PPF and ceramic pro platinum all over. Would I deviate from anything discussed in the video?
any thoughts on the No rinse products?
What is the All Purpose Cleaner you mentioned a few times?
How about what to use for tire shine / dressing?
Hi, any pro tips for interior cleaning? :)
Always enjoy your posts. Thanks! My question is how to begin cleaning a car that's REALLY dirty, like mine. I live on a dirt road so it gets coated with mud. I don't want to drive the grit into the paint with a power wash, so what's the recommendation for removing caked-on mud? Thanks in advance.
Wet it down with a power washer first then spray a bunch of the pre-cleaner on it and let soak in. That will loosen all the dirt on there. You can then go back with the power washer and it should release most of that caked on grime. Repeat if needed until it's all off and then start the microfiber washing.
Just order a new tesla and I was wondering about the unbody wash. If you live in an area where it snows and salt is applied to the car. how would you clean the under body? Is it safe to clean it since the battery is located under the car?
Chris Fix has an excellent video on how to properly wash your vehicle and clean it on the inside. I recommend everyone go and watch it.
Grant is so cool
If my car has a full ceramic paint coat do I only use the reset to wash the car?
This video is very nice. Lot of info out there about how to properly wash a car.. a bit overwhelming... where did you get your caliper covers and your spoiler ? they look nice!
The calipers are not covers, they were painted by Grant and his team at Menard’s. The spoiler is made by Topfit and a link and discount for it are in our accessory video.
What sprayer do you recommend to spray your dilutions and chemicals?
Hey everyone, does everyone used Tuga chemie for rims cleaning???If yes,can you use it with the wheel covers?is it safe to use it like that?or it will destroy the covers?
Awesome video!!! You gotta clean the lens of your camera before filming!!! The glare is distracting. Cheers!
for that 2nd bucket with the soapy water, what did you put in it? just water with Reset Car Shampoo?
Are carbon ceramics different than the ceramic coating? Can I use a tire cleaner near a ceramic coated Tesla?
What about the black trim and the door and trunk jams
Where can I find the splash gaurds you talked about
Great video! Just one question what is that all purpose cleaner he was spraying on the car (pink colored)?
CarPro Multi X
What about interior cleaning?
What is exactly in the all purpose cleaner?
For the bugs and bird pooh, which cleaner is the best for the front end and other places?
How do most people clean the bottom of their car though? I understand the importance of self cleaning like this however carwashes get under the car which is really the main reason I use them ( on my truck, tesla not here yet )
Should do a part two of this with the inside.
Coming soon....
Thanks for the info. Does the 2022 Y performance have carbon ceramics?
Nope! It’s only an optional upgrade from 3rd party companies. Tbh, they don’t need them, unless you are tracking it with a supercharger at the track
Been using leaf blower to dry the car. It's faster and safer before water spot happens.
100%!! Leaf blowers make everything easier
Me too! 😂
What is the detail Spay that you mention for bugs?
Love the video. What was the all purpose cleaner he used for the bugs? Also was it diluted? Thank!
It was to pre-treat the area with all the bugs so they come off easier.
@@LockettTech OK. But what is it called?
CarPro Multi X
so we have self driving but no self cleaning. Just saying.
this is a joke right😭😭
This will be included in the Beta 11.4.9 release.
You do however have self crashing
how much PSI does he use/recommend for the pressure washer?
Excellent video. This is the best way to wash your vehicle. Too all the flamers in the comments best luck to you and your vehicles paint 🤣🤣 for all the beginners this is a good protocol. 2 buckets is a must. 👍🏼
Hi Guys. Question. Which is better Big Red Sponge or Rag Company Ultra Black Sponge ? Or are they like for like? Cheers
A very informative process to wash a Tesla vehicle, however, costly. If you add up the items recommended excluding the cost of the buckets needed and mud/splash guards, it totals $293.84. Of course, many of the items suggested can be used more than once, if properly cleaned and stored.
Great video thank you. One thing is slightly mystifying me: taking the wash mitt to the car without rinsing off the snow foam. If the foam is intended to loosen the dirt, surely, by washing over the foam, the dirt is moved around the surface of the car.
You can definitely do that as a step, and we do. But this car was not that dirty when it came in so there was no need to take that extra step and waste the product! If Chris would have went through mud piles or a rain storm on his way over we would have definitely used the extra step!!
Can you tell me which size Dry Me Crazy towel he used? The link says 40x 26 but it looks like the 25 X 17. Thanks.
This one was a 25x17 but we recommend the bigger one!!
I ordered 2 of the 25x 17 and they were perfect to dry the car like Grant did. They really are nice towels.
Can you recommend a pressure washer and dryer suitable for home use on my new MYP?
There are plenty out there, what is your budget?
@@ShineOnNetwork I hadn't really thought about it too much. For a power washer, I really only care that the pressure isn't too much for rinse and that it lasts me a little while. I have no idea what types of drying solutions there are or if they're even needed.
You said multi-Purpose cleaner, but could it be bad on the paint?
Grantttttttttt 👌👌👌👌
He's a legend.
Ok, if you use the blower, you should use the air squeegee end not a round end one. It makes it much easier to get rid of the water quickly and efficiently. Its a wide rectangular attachment and you use it in the same manner you use a squeegee and it works far better. Thats if you have an air blower and you should have one. It makes it a lot easier to dry the wheels and tires. I hate to say it. Two buckets work fine. just make sure you have a lot of suds.Thats the key. Finally, I have find using Bead Up on the car after everything is done is a great idea. Even the wheels. My wife cant believe the shine it leaves on My 2016 Tesla S. It puts an absolute mirror finish on it and it works fine over ceramic coat, which is my experience but check it out with your manufacturer first. I do this all myself and save a ton and my painted finish is pristine.
I normally just go to the automatic, touch car wash with our Tesla. No PPE so no issues. Works great. Of course a great detail job every so often is awesome.
those automatic touch car wash scratches your paint btw, but its your car you do you.
@@AnTran-rc8yj I also always go to a automatic carwash its really not that bad and also its still just a Tesla not a Ferrari lol
@@doubletaphq3531 Even if I was driving a 2000 Toyota corolla I'd still do a DIY handwash tbh. I don't like seeing swirl marks on my car paint. That's just me though, your car you do you.
hello! Can you please let us know where we can get that exact all purpose cleaner he uses? Thank you :)
This is the question I am looking for the answer as well - getting those bugs off safety and not scratching the surface - if you get the answer and I miss it please let me know
@@superdutied l am looking for the answer too :(
It’s in the description. The “CARPRO multi x tire cleaner”. He said you can use that all purpose cleaner for the tires and the car for bugs
@@ChiiBomb I seen it after but appreciate the reply - I have since purchased that a few of the other item shown - unreal how impressed I am - thanks again
@@ChiiBomb Thank you :)
wow
Do you use the same tire brush for the rims and tires?
No. Grant recommends using two different brushes. The one for your wheels should be a lug brush. It’s smaller and can get in between the spokes. The tire brush should be wider to get the entire sidewall.
How do you wash/detail the engine bay under the hood of an electrical car? I have an ioniq electric and recently I found rodent feces. I didn’t find no chewing luckily looks like I caught it right away, the feces looked fresh. I want to wash it but I don’t want to damage anything. Any tips?
Find a local shop that has a Steam Cleaner! This is the safest way to go. Or just use a damn rag with some all purpose spray on the microfiber and wipe it out.
my tesla has been ceramically coated i was wondering if there is a spray i can use in between washes to remove hand prints around the door handles?
Car pro essence plus
I worked part time for a friend that had a detail shop years ago. Most of the techniques are the same but it looks like the cleaning products have come a long way. I am in Bucks County, is his shop open to purchase products?
They sure are! Everything used he sells in store too.
We sure do! 125 industrial drive, Warminster, pa 18974. And you are 100% correct the product technology has gone crazy
Are the products mentioned on this vid safe to be use on PPF? I will hate to damage my PPF
Thank you. Great video. He talked about keeping the nozzle around 12 inches away which was helpful. Can you find out what PSI or GPM he recommends when looking for a pressure washer please?
We use a 1700 psi pressure washer! You do not need to go crazy as the pressure is at the tip anyway so you can go with a 1200-2500 and be perfectly fine!
@@ShineOnNetwork Got it. Thank you for the response and the great instructional video. Pull your towels across. Never had heard of that, but makes sense, and boy was I doing it wrong. :)
@@jasonbackus1863 out here saving one cars paint at a time lol
@@ShineOnNetwork Many thanks for the info on the pressure washer.
I'm not sure about this so i ask. Wouldn't it be better to first pre wash with the high pressure cleaner and then foam it after a lot of dirt already went down? I saw here it was foamed straight away without pre wash.
That is my question too. He uses a sponge to wipe the car after foaming, which may scratch the paint because the dirt and sand is still on the surface. Why not rinse the car first, which will remove most of the sand and dirt.
@@abalaguamit2731 from what I’ve learned you shouldn’t rinse first. Best thing to do is foam first then rinse to allow the debris to fall off. It’s like sand blasting the debris with the pressure washer which can cause scratches
Does model y performance have carbon ceramics?
No only the model S plaid and it’s an option. Not currently being shipped. Maybe X plaid but not sure
What type or brand of pressure washer is best to get? PSI 1800? Or less?
I too would like to know how many PSI his pressure washer is. This is an important item that you left out of the video.
Active 2.0. Puts out 2 gallons per minute at 900 psi. . Perfect for car wash….
Do you have PPF on this Tesla, already?
Yes. When we did this video we had front only.
How about the door jams?
Spray a little detail spray in the jams and wipe it out with a damp microfiber. And then wipe dry with a dry microfiber!
Thanks for the info!
I may have missed it in the video but is Reset safe for non-coated Teslas?
yes.
What was the comment about Plaid and not using ceramic cleaner?
Plaids have ceramic breakers which require a specific cleaner for ceramic.
Would a touchless car wash be ok to use on my model X?
Technically yes, but just know they are using pretty harsh chemicals in order to accomplish the job touchless. If you have a ceramic coat on the car it will eat into it faster.
Are the products mentioned in this vid safe for PPF? Great vid, thank you
Always use car shampoo directly on the mitt. Any reason why not?
You might rub dirt into the paint with the mitt. Better to foam it up first.
So why is bad to use meguirs wash and wax?
Great video! Does he sell the washing supplies at his store too? Different topic but is there any additional benefit to doing both ppf and a ceramic coat?
Yes he does. Yes there is a benefit. The PPF protects the paint and ceramic keeps it looking brand new all the time. We did videos on both PPF and ceramic and cover the benefits for each if you want to check those out.
@@LockettTech does he sell the supplies online?
@@IAmTheChan Menard’s does not have an online store but I provided links to the products in the description to buy them online.
Everyone “should” love Tesla’s!!!
so you wash it like every other car.. got it! pro tip, if you pre-rinse you dont need 2 buckets... also, you want to spray the bug remover before the foam soap, think about it, you have bugs after your wash, the bug remover didnt do its job because it was not applied correct, like before the soap.
Great video but in reality, most people don’t have the time or energy to wash it like this….but I will try
It definitely takes some time out of your day but the results are so worth it.
Who is that man
Would please send me a list of the items recommended for a top quality and safe car wash for a Tesla. There were 3 buckets, recommended brushes, wash mit, etc . I would appreciate a list and suggested retailers. Thank you.
Links to all the products used (safe and premium for Tesla specifically) are in the description of the video.
Links to all the products used (safe and premium for Tesla specifically) are in the description of the video.
@@LockettTech How many PSI is his pressure washer????? Thanks in advance for any information you are willing to supply.
Use soap, water, a bucket 🪣 and rag. Towel off if you got time.
So you did a commercial for this guy’s products.
why are you telling people if they drop their wash mitt, just throw it away. Who does that? Why would I waste money like that? If youre worried it picked up some dirt just wring it out in a bucket of water. Big deal. No need to throw it away.
He didn't say for you to throw it away...he just said that was his shop's policy.
Watching this as I'm sitting in a filthy loaner.
News flash: internet is still up. Literally not broken.
Oh damn...really?
19:15 Almost dropped it and had to burn it or give it away!
Phew....ALMOST!
Didn’t wash the door jams or dog legs? 🤨
Enjoyed the video, but for my standards, this car was clean before it went in for a wash.. 😂
You don’t need all of this Proceeds to grab every soap, tire shine, wax, mit, buckets and scrubbers
Actually this list was kept to pretty much the essentials. General soap, pre-clean spray to loosen up caked on particles, tire cleaner and that was about it outside of the equipment needed to do it all. He showed off other things you can use too but those were not essential to a good general cleaning.
Hmm aren’t we supposed to wash the new microfiber towels before we use it?
All for the camera lol. Can’t get everything right
why do you need to wash a new towel before use ?
do not use aircompressors!! the lubrication oil on the system WILL come out that nozzle.. even if u use a oilfree system the pressure can be way to much and tear seals and emblems. and not drying properly leaves spots.. dont listen to this dude. dry ur car. then wax it. does not matter how many buckets u use.. after the first rinse and dip the cross-contamination has begun. have MANY sponges(cut ones) after its dirty, next sponge, the rinse is the worst thing you do... after the wash you can rinse all your sponges. i use 15 pr wash sometimes a few more if she is really dirty and i been lazy last time 😅
Yeah... Like we are all going to buy all that to wash a car, Its a car
You will be surprised! There are people out there that treat their car better than a child! This covers the ultra people and the people just looking to wash their car.
@@LockettTechYou do not need to spend a lot to clean a car like this.
