  • Dimash does not lip-synch. He’s a trained professional, operatic singer. his parents were as well and he was brought up in a musical home. Let’s not diminish the talent of this man. He’s incredible.

    • Well said! Some people just can't believe it's possible to sing as exceptional as Dimash does, and so they say it's lip-synch or fakery. Sometimes the video will make it seem like slightly out of synch, but Dimash has no need for fakery of any kind, he is far too honest and with integrity to cheat his fans in any case. I wish people would simply give him credit for being an extraordinary vocal talent who we are so lucky to be able to experience in our lifetime.

    • @@northernlights9814 Thank you for noting Dimash's honesty and decency. In his live performances at different concerts, we can see how different the performance of the same song is. When he is very tired, you can see and hear it. When I see that Dimash is very, very tired, with sweat on his face, who can barely hold the microphone, but continues to sing for the audience, I love him even more. For honesty and sincerity.

  • I'll tell you why this is NOT a lip sync. This is his performance at the 2018 Slavianski Bazaar, a singing competition where he was a judge and a guest performer. Three years earlier, in 2015, he was a competitor and won 1st place in the Grand Prix (the entire 3-day competition). He would NEVER lip sync at this event. It's not even allowed. Same with "Stranger" - that song was presented at the Grand opening of the International Competition of Young Performers "New Wave-2021" in Sochi, Russia. Again, an event where he would not-and cannot-lip sync. He doesn't lip sync at his concerts either. I know that many singers do but Dimash is not like other singers. This man truly is exceptional - Music In Human Form.

  • Personally, I like that you utilize this version of SOS to introduce people to Dimash. It is the song that made China, followed by the rest of the world, hear Dimash as a first-class star. It was also the first song I heard him sing, although it was the 2017 "I Am A Singer" version in the competition in China that made him famous. No matter how many times I hear it, I love every note. That version was completely live because it was part of the rules of the competition - and it blew my socks off. This version is 2 years later, his French is fine-tuned, and he does a few things differently, as always. As a previous professional vocalist myself, I have serious doubts that he is lip-syncing here. I have also heard him sing on many fan-cams from his concerts and although the sound quality overall is poorer (cell phones not the best for recording music), his vocals are spot on, pure, and beautiful despite the recording quality. Thank you for spreading the sound and the magic that is Dimash. I always enjoy your guest reactions and appreciate so much that you are spreading Dimash-love around so generously.

This version has such a tinny sound to it on the high notes. A typical trait of overuse of pitch correction. You can even hear it snapping into place. Just because a person sings a song live at one venue, doesn't mean they do it at another. Simple logic.

  • As a matter of fact, Dimash did FOUR versions of Diva Dance. The blue alien on the 5th Element was computer-generated. Dimash's voice is so unreal and beautiful that some people cannot believe it emanates from his slender body. Dimash sings in 14 languages. when he first appeared on Singer 2017, he only spoke Kazakh and Russian. His first four songs were in French (S0S), Russian (Opera 2), English (The Show Must Go On), and Mandarin ( Autumn Strong). He only had one week to prepare for each performance. I believe this was a talent show of some sort, so of course Dimash did not lip-sync. Perhaps you should have let him watch Dimash's digital performance. No way he could have said that was lip-synced, Sinful Passion, Ikanaide, Love Is Like A Dream, Your Love, or better still, his performance of Adagio on Singer 2017. Oh well, folks are gonna believe what they want to perceive.

  • I liked your guest. ❤ It’s ok to ask yourself about the lip-synching, and then move on. He appreciated Dimash, even if he didn’t know for sure. ❤😊 Generally, I don’t understand how that would even diminish his accomplishments. Put all the best singers in a studio for however long they want - and they couldn’t do this. And Dimash has sung this song countless times live and perfectly. 🥰 He doesn’t need to lip-sync. But if he ever did - there must have been an important reason out of his control.

  • To be clear, the reason for lip sync during a TV performance is NOT because the performers can’t sing the song, especially Dimash…who could not sing badly if he tried, he is THAT great. The reason is to eliminate the potential for technical problems like microphone feedback or the wireless mic dropping out for a moment, or noise from the audience coughing, clapping or simply moving around during the beautiful soft notes he sings. With lip sync the artist is not embarrassed by technical issues they can’t control. Dimash is potentially one of the greatest singers of all time, don’t ever let his performances be tarnished by human imperfection of others. Cheers! rocko

  • Slavic Bazzar is a famous singing competition, and most singing competitions do not allow autotune. You can’t use autotune in a live setting if you have a natural vibrato like Dimash to the voice, only autotune or pitch correction in the studio. Many performers may lip synch because they cannot replicate what’s done in the studio. But I think what Michael Jackson’s vocal coach was mistaken taking the unsynching between sound and vision that happens at times in digital videos over analogue ones. If you want to check if an artist is using autotune put their vocal into pitch monitoring software and see the difference. Fil from Wings of Pegusus did a vid comparing the vocals of Pavarotti and Dimash with the vocal of someone using autotune. Personally with Dimash I think you should be offering a taster SOS followed by Olympico. You’re not expecting you guests to like his music, you just want to show them someone with a phenomenal voice. After just hearing SOS some people automatically class him as a counter tenor, but Olympico sort throws that concept out of contention.

    @Sisterfifi@Sisterfifi3 ай бұрын
    • Or sinful passion, or stranger, he literally has so many songs that showcase his high bass low baritone, and a lot more that show his tenor abilities rather than picking that one song that most people he will introduce to dimash will say "yeah I don't really listen to opera but it was cool", rather than that, it's better to show them something they can relate to and enjoy.

The only problem is that because he is so good, sometimes people think that he is doing the lipsynch thing. A clear example is the Russian guy who thought that Dimash performances were computerized until one day he saw it with his own eyes Dimash's live performance. • It keeps astounding me how there are so many dears who think that it is somehow helpful to defend Dimash (when defending is not needed), against "lip sync allegations". Many have no idea what industry standard practices are, and that lip syncing, or singing live to track, or having editors replace your live vocals with studio vocals for the release, does not make one a worse singer. People are just uneducated, and also often do not see or hear the nuances themselves. Such is life. Out of official videos, my favourite versions of SOS are Kiev 2020 (in his Kiev Arnau concert on his channel, but you can also find it extracted by a fan if you search YT) and the Digital Show SOS 2021. Vocals in the latter are incredible, better than in this Slavic Bazaar version, but he sings with his eyes closed for almost the entire song, and the editors have not noticed this when choosing their shots, which is frustrating if one, as a new watcher, wants to see his eyes. But as far as live performances in professional sound quality go, the digital show is the bomb vocally and what I would show instead. The Singer version is also a great starting point, as that's the one that made him internationally known, and it is a very sweet version from young Dimash. (SOS is, apart from literally a few occasions where track was required, always live and there are dozens upon dozens of different versions of the song available online, obviously mostly only captured on fancams.)

According to various sources, he has been heard live (Stranger) hitting a C2 and D8 (Unforgettable Day). His whistle register can hit notes in the eight octaves.[1][2][3] I've seen him perform this song live in at least 10 different videos and every one of them are different, he changes it up a little in every performance. He is trained in classical, folk, pop etc... he also has "perfect pitch" literally not to mention has sung in 16 different languages. Performances of him on The Singer are available and are definitely live as well as his performance on The World's Best. He definitely had to sing live on that show too if you feel the need to check his credibility but to judge him with out educating your self is wrong. I'm not saying he has never lipsynced. But I have definitely seen him sing live and you can not tell the difference except his personal choices which are always different in every performance of every song I've ever seen.

He has, more in the past, moved the mic rapidly from side to side to show that he is really singing so that you can hear his voice cutting in and out......Watching his body engagement here, I think this one is real. He does do a little LS'ing but when his diaphragm is really visibly engaged as it is here, I think not....maybe, but I don't think so on this one. And as you say, who in the industry does not? And when he sang the 5th element song during the 2017 I AM SINGER competition, well you HAVE to sing live to participate in the vocal comp, you can not LS in the competition. Dimash does LS the 2nd half of his song The Story of One Sky in his concerts and that is very evident. But here, I don't think so.

    • He does LS the 2nd 1/2 of TSOOS in most of the shows that he did in this tour. But I think it was the Hong Kong show recently, he sang the entire thing, no LS - pretty amazing too! I think it was Hong Kong, there were so many shows with fancams that I lose track. But I was expecting him to LS the 2nd 1/2 & was surprised when he sang it live all the way thru. Probably has to do with how he's feeling on a given night, what other demanding songs he has to sing in proximity to it, etc. Doesn't matter to me in the slightest, I'm not sure why some get so bent out of shape about it - as the man said, he created & recorded it in the 1st place! Almost every singer does it occasionally, & Dimash remains the greatest singer on the planet, & probably in history.

  • I'm a Dimash enthusiast, but I didn't feel this performance was 100% live. It's possible it was, but it may have been edited later or during the show. If aiming for a 100% live presentation, there are many other options available. For instance, his performance of "Unforgettable Day" at Gakku 2017 was amazing. As they say, every artist sometimes lip-syncs, and that doesn't diminish their talent. It's about preserving their voice and avoiding overexertion during tours. Additionally, a single Dimash song surpasses in difficulty the entire repertoire of many artists. It can't be easy. Finally, behind Dimash, there's a whole team that must also agree with or promote this as a healthy practice to care for him.

Most of the people suggesting it weren't as polite about it as you were though. They were downright cruel about it, actually, so he rose to the challenge. • People just can’t believe that anyone can sing like Dimash, live, can they? I suppose people aren’t used to what the greatest vocalist of all time can actually do! This was live, it’s a competition show where everyone sings live, which Dimash won in 2015, here he is a guest artist. The only time he does not sing live (very rare) is on live TV shows where the TV station, doesn’t allow people to sing live. He prefers to sing live, it’s much easier for him to do so. Also The Singer competition in China, people have to sing live, Dimash did 12 episodes of that, all live SOS was his first performance on that show and it’s different to the Slavic Bazaar performance, as with all of Dimash’s performances of the same song, he never does the same song the same.

So yeah, we know he can certainly sing it without pre-recording. That being said, it's also not always his decision. When he does performances as a guest at things like New Wave or on CCTV that are not his personal production he gets very limited say in how the thing is actually produced. He certainly prefers to perform live and has even cancelled appearances when too ill to sing because he'd rather not risk a bad lip synch.
