Introducing Legit Flip! My new car flip series! In this video, I get to work on my first channel flip car, a 2001 54Oi with a V8 and manual transmission that I paid only $900 for! In this series, I'm focusing only on car repairs and detailing that add value to the car and in this video, I restore 3 specific areas of the car that increase its value by thousands and only cost around $40! I hope you all enjoy this new series. I've always wanted to have a car flip show like this and now that I'm full-time on KZhead I can finally add it into the channel. Enjoy!

When the F150 build coming?
Great idea for a series. What would be super helpful would be a total number of workhours invested in the various tasks to go along with the costs incurred. So when you get to the end, we can get a sense of what kind of hourly 'salary' a person can earn in a flip.
Cool beans. Those seats are killing profit 100%
Alex, take a wire brush to the rusty nuts and bolts under the hood. Such as the nuts on the spring towers etc.
I think the series is a good idea, but the vehicles should have to come from the open market. Anyone can make money flipping cars if they have a friend that sells them a car like that for $900.
The engine and headlights made the biggest difference. That green is so beautiful!
I love the color
My 95 E38 is grün 😄😄😄Germany
Agreed also the wheels. After this video I’m gonna have to order those wheel brushes to clean mine. And MAYBE I’ll get some engine degreaser and put those dumb plastics back under the hood of my old gx470 after cleaning them
Had an oxfordgrun e38 740. Very nice color. Bit odd in the sea of silver blue black
Get another e39 😂😂
Mate, keep going with what you’re doing with the channel, the content is just terrific. All the best for a great Christmas, from Vienna.
I use Super Clean to detail engines
Amazing channel! Merry Christmas to Vienna from Michigan
Vienna is an awesome city. I have loved the 4 times I've been there. Cheers!
Headlights were definitely my favourite part! I also think replacing the BMW hood emblem and wheel center caps could also increase value. I think it shows the car was kept up with at least. Great content and looking forward to this series!
The headlights and the actual car wash made the car look attractive… but the emblem and the wheel center cap would give it more value… I agree with you
Yup
Completley agree, the center caps and emblems would really set it off, especially after a light polish
All of those plus the tow hook cover...
I'll add a caution: YES the emblems and caps would be worth it... but they're damned expensive. EACH and EVERY BMW with more than 50 miles on it has some atrocious emblem peeling, it's been that way for 40+ years! Love the series, bud!
TOP TIP: If/when you polish that car, try using a black colour polish. You'll find the black will give these darker colours a deeper shine and also hide any small chips and scratches👍
Alex, the "beauty" cover is most important to dampen valve and injector "ticking". And maybe you didn't notice, but there are seals missing on the bottom L and R edges of the cover. Also, replace the oring in the power steering reservoir cap as that is the source of the oily deposits there.
Alex can you help me with a 1996 BMW 328i?
@@dwayneharris1026 Hey, Dwayne. You "replied" to my comment rather than to Alex. That said, I would think Alex could be helpful, but I recommend you approach with a description of your specific problem. It is more likely you'll get help from the audience if you give enough info. Also, you could try to reach Alex through Instagram (see his video description for link). Good luck!
Good call, nice catch.
Flying Wheel’s Flipping $400 to a Ferrari series has done extremely well and provided him good content for over a year so I think this is a good series for you. Maybe get a dealer license so you can go to dealer auctions too? Idk 🤷🏻♂️
That flying wheels guy is a hack.
@@idontlikecops1 no he is not. craig is awesome. went up and met him and bought a car from him. dont be a random internet hater.

@Randomly Odd Shorts he made money on KZhead revenue. The rest of the experiment is a complete fail.
@@vadim7590 clearly you don’t watch his videos. he made his money from his dealership BEFORE then started his youtube channel THEN took a $400 investment and made close to 40k.
Looking really good Alex. Couple of hints from my detailing cars (but they do take a little extra time): 1. Remove the wheels and place them on a five gallon bucket. Do the back side first - especially if they use stick-on balance weights. Then do the front. That way you can get all angles, and into the lug holes too. Easy to get evenly all the way around the rim. Also, if you are treating the tires, it also leaves no area untreated. Also, this also lets you clean the fender liner and suspension components. 2. Engine Bay - Use a plastic garden pressure sprayer, with hot water and degreaser. Option: Put a pin hole in the top of the pickup tube for more foaming action (but more pumping too). Cover electrical connectors with aluminum foil. Remove after all soap and pressure washing is done. 3. Put the front wheels up on a ramp (if you don't have a lift) to clean the underside of the engine, trans, etc. This also gives easier access to rocker panels too. 4. Use a large sponge and start spraying downward at the bottom of the trunk channels or door jambs. This comes in handy to limit side or over spray when spraying soap or pressure washing. 5. Option to clear coating headlight lenses: Use a Carnauba based wax on the clear plastic to absorb UV light. Delays yellowing (this tip was from our 3M rep). Keep up the great work.
Of all the cleaning you did, the head lights were the biggest contribution. A dirty car with clear lights looks so much better than a clean car with hazy lights.
Hey Alex, for the seats, clean them as good as you can with a good leather cleaner, then you can take a clean rag with a little bit of paint thinner or something that will pull a little bit of the dye out of the seats, and use that to spread the good color that is still in the leather around and fill in the color that's dirty and missing and cracked in the rest of the seats. I saw someone do it before on leather that was really cracked and beat up, and after spreading the good dye still in the leather around the rest of the seats and filling in the cracks and getting rid of the dirt, he followed it up with a leather conditioner. When the seats were all done, it was a night and day difference. The seats went from unusable to really decent. They weren't perfect, but it made a huge difference. It cost almost nothing to do, and you don't have to worry about matching the colors with different dye or anything, because you are using what is already soaked into the leather. This might also work for cleaning up some of the plastic in there that was dyed and isn't looking so good, but test it first in an area you can't really see 1st to know exactly how it's gonna react and look.
That’s great advice and I’m going to take that advice for myself as well!
Well... I found this info to be very useful.....if nobody else did. Thanks man!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thats actually no good idea, and there is a couple of reasons for that. First of all, leather is dyed in a system similar to painting a car. There is a primer, followed up with the actual dye followed by a topcoat. In this case, it looks like some sh*ty paint has simply been smothered over the actual dye of the seats. So first of all a cleaning with a leather cleaner and a brush would probably just remove most of the colour on top. Furthermore if you use thinner, you would destroy the dye beneath, because it acts as a solvent, and would ruin the topcoat, and probably mix the brown dye beneath with the tan above. The dye wouldn’t be able to resist future cleanings in this case. So to speak, this is a job for leather experts, where the old paint is stripped, the cracks and holes get filled up and the whole seats get redyed properly. I guess the guys from colourlock would be able to help out here. After all, no front dude… this is just my opinion on this topic.
Suggestion: Remove the front fender inner liner to access the crud that builds up at the bottom at the rocker panel. Spray is with the power washer then coat it with FluidFilm/Rust Check/ Krown to keep that area protected from possible rust.
Alex, for me the headlight restoration adds the most value from what has been done so far. The old girl looks like she’ll be the belle of the ball once all is done ! The new flip format is a winner winner (chicken …..)and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it.
That gen of 5 series will always be an absolute classic, they’re so satisfying to look at
I watch all your content Alex! I bought my c63 AMG because of you! Long tube headers, no cats or resonator... X-pipe. Tuned and filters. All work done myself. Thanks for the great content Alex!
Watching from British Columbia Canada
My boss had a 2003 c65 and wouldn't drive it like it wanted to! He was scared of it. Awesome machine.
@@starkenterprises2371 c55 you mean
Hey Alex, I love the idea of this new series you are doing! These BMWs are so much fun, I used to own a '95 E34 540i with a 6 speed. Since your car was so dirty, I'd definitely use some IronX and clay bar to decontaminate the paint before buffing. Soaking and agitating the wheels with IronX will also take care of the really stubborn dirt.
Foam canons MEVER get old!
This is one of the best car channels on KZhead!!!! Love this series
Alex your channel is awesome. I check every day for new content. The E39 is the most iconic body style IMO. Can’t wait for the repairs/maintenance video on this car. Maybe one thing you can do is add an aftermarket Bluetooth adapter to the factory stereo. A new owner would love it.
Really looking forward to the price paid and repair costs format! Loved the initial cleanup!
Alex as long as you put out content for us we will continue watching and supporting because you are doing a fantastic job, and that BMW looks good
I have been watching you almost from the very beginning.. and I enjoy the content so much it’s a wonderful part of my downtime every time i get to watch a new episode ! Great stuff, best of luck with the channel, Cheers Alex!!
Dont forget to replace the hood emblem , and the centercaps on the wheels , small things huge difference
Love this series !! Hours and cost of materials are crucial so we can really see what you have put into it.Really helpful.
I love this. One of my favourite youtubers, with exactly the content I've been wanting to watch. I'm not gonna flip cars myself (at least not at this point in my life - never say never), but I love the process. Thank you!
I got an E39 in Oxford Green as well and was actually not a fan of green cars at all. But that colour is just amazing. Mine was always kept in a garage by its first and only owner and the paint did not fade at all. When I wash my car I often just stand there and look at it for some time from various angels.. It makes me feel grateful and happy for owning such a wonderful and beautiful car, which even today is said to be one of, if not THE best 5 series ever made.
Alrighty, this channel just keeps getting better and better. Great work!
In this crazy used car market, you're gonna do really well on this. That engine detail looks great! And the headlights! And the wheels!
I am enjoying this new series. You have been very forthcoming with the financials and I appreciate that tremendously. Well done Alex! Merry Christmas 🎄
Great job as always mate! Cap the tow hole in the front spoiler, that will be the cheapest fix and make a massive difference to the look. Loving your channel and always waiting impatiently for the next episode. Wishing you and family a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Great vid Alex. One tip, for the underhood treatment after washing (I clean my BMW engines the same way you showed), Aerospace 303 is excellent at restoring plastics without leaving them streaky or glossy (like a buy here pay here lot would do). Just leaves them nice and fresh looking. Will keep an eye on this E39 series... I need another 540i/6 in my life.
That Aerospace 303 is a great product. I use it a lot on our cars. Avoid AA on plastics and vinyl as it does bad things like trying to eat at the plastic, making it gooey.
Gotta respect this mans grind. always 30 minute videos
This will be awesome!! Great idea and I am looking forward to this series!!! Nice job!
Excellent video. I’m so glad a lot of your videos are long. Can’t get enough!
You definitely made that look several times better than it did. I miss my E39s, truly awesome driving cars. I'd love to score another one as long as it's manual.
Alex, can you include the price of your time (how many hours the jobs take you) in this..........your time is $$$$. Your enthusiasm is great!
Best advice I ever received when I started flipping cars: You make your money when you buy the car. So basically, don't over pay for something but also don't rip the little old lady off you're buying it from. It's a fine line.
Alex you genuinely like your work, I really love your work ethic, I know you have you have your moments and ask yourself "what the hell am I doing?" And furthermore I love how you get past that negative emotion and always see the positive behind each project. Your informative, your a teacher to some but to me lad your a inspiration, someone who is actually very honest at your very core as a youtuber. I cannot wait to see what the year 2022 has In store for your family, for you and for us your disciples/fans
Lmao I figured this was only a matter of time. Excellent vids as usual. Today's been a nice Saturday ngl 👍
It's amazing how a headlight refresh can really improve the appearance of a car!
Found this by recommendation from KZhead and I’m getting a 99 e39 so this seems like it’ll be a really helpful series, thank you, this is great so far!
Very cool series. Thanks! I’ll stay tuned. Great channel.
Alex, track your time as well...minus the recording and edit of course. I think it would be helpful for us to know how much time you spend working on the Bimmer. As always love the content. Currently daily drive an E320 CDI 2005.
BMW has the best greens in the automotive world. I had a 325is with emeald exterior and saddle interior and it was a beauty...and I am not a green color lover for cars. Great job on that engine bay. I would but some rust inhibitor atleast in the fuel door area maybe run that mini sander and grey prime to protect before handing it off. Rust is a downer to a sale but though that V8 trumps the rust...lol
Loved this series. Also loved you going through the tools you use!! I have 2 E39s and you gave me some great tips!
Liking the video, always enjoy a good detail video. I also like the numbers of the flip, interesting to see the actual cost of doing something like this. Started watching when we owned a C300 and did a lot of work myself due to your channel. Thanks
If I had inserted that caveat in my videos I may have been able to avoid being sued by my state for selling cars. Smart man! Love this series!!
You can get in trouble for that?
Which caveat? Primary purpose is not to make money?
I didn't know you needed a licence. What is the threshold ? $ value of cars sold per annum ? # of cars sold per annum ? It's your property, and you selling them retail to a purchaser who knows he's buying from someone who doesn't have a dealer licence ( I presume a dealer licence specifies the safety level of the car being sold, and gives a warranty that you need a bond to be able to cover. Am I right in these basics ? )
@@Czechbound Each state has a limit of how many cars you can sell as a private seller per year. They say it is to protect the consumer.
4 in Texas
The patience it must take to properly clean "137 spoke" wheels is admirable.
I have staggered TSW Silverstone and THAT is a bitch to clean. How do guys maintain those million spoke old school wheels is beyond me, apart from throwing them to a dishwasher.
@@Mortalomena Pressure washers and a good cleaner work wonders.
I use ceramic coating on my wheels. You want easy cleaning? Do that, and it’ll just be damn near spray washes for a good long while.

Great job Alex. Some small stuff I'd fix if I was doing the same thing: Replace rusty bolts with new ones in the engine compartment, remove 540i emblem for a cleaner look, new hood emblem (and rims, one was missing and maybe a 35% tint in the rear windows 🤘
Love Alex’s humble demeanor in his videos and Big Fan of this channel, including companies that sponsor him 👍🏻…applied AvalonKing on our BMW SUV, it looks stunning and looking forward to FANTTIK F8 Apex tire inflator. Keep up the great content…
Fantastic start to the series. Love the honesty 👍🏻
I love this series! So satisfying. I can’t wait to see more.
Man that engine bay looks good...although, leaving that amount of rust in the fuel cap area would bug the heck outa me. There surely has to be a realitvely 'quick and simple' make do method that would stop it getting any worse and stabilise the situation to give the new owner time to get it sorted properly maybe?
A quick sand, rust killer and a coat of paint should fix it up quite easily and prevent it spreading.
@@s2000. a hand held battery operated sand blaster, some Steel-It and some factory paint to finish should be ample!
Phosphoric acid, steel wool, clean, dry, and paint. Done in 15 min.
@@starkenterprises2371 phosphoric acid…you thinking like one of them rust dissolver kits that, rather than eating the rust, changes the chemical composition such that it acts as a protective layer instead? 🤔
@@weedfreer phosphoric acid will change the rust to a gray powder, pits in metal will remain. Powder easily removed with steel wool, rinse with water, dry with heat gun, tape off, prime, then paint with rattle can green paint as close to factory as you can find. Obscure location won't be noticed. Any rust removal kit would work I suspect.

absolutely loved this video Alex, many greetings from Tokyo !!
Loved this first installment. Headlights is the winner on the improvement! Nice job, looking forward to the next video.
Love the video. From a detailers perspective on the headlights. You can usually get away with 1500/2000 grit. And then 3000 grit. And then bud and get a really solid result with minimal sanding marks.

That thing looks GORGEOUS...!!! Great content here. Keep going like this, friend.
Amazing transformation! Have an amazing day!
I had an automatic 1999 E39, drove it for about 10 years, living in 5 different states, remember on weekends I would drive from Tulsa to Chicago, (about 1500 miles round trip), most of that time I was driving with a disconnected Odometer, car must have had 500k+ miles on it, but ran like a beast. The transmission died one time but after changing the filter, oil and sensor, it ran great again. I LOVED that. The odometer and screens were impossible to read, best car I ever owned. I felt like it had too many gadgets and sensors that will go bad at some point but as far as the engine and transmission, it was a beast and a rocket of a car!!!!
Excellent idea for a series and love the content

I would call the series Legit flips and Skips. This would show the raw reality of when the flip becomes what you had said, a loss. That's the "skip" side of it all. Because it can happen to your viewers and I know I would appreciate the honesty behind the process.

The good cleaning you gave that car did wonders for decent valuation, along with the headlight resto. Thanks for a great video!
Great vid! One thing I do differently that is a little time saver from your method - after cleaning the engine, spray the engine bay with whatever product you’re using as a protectant then simply blow off the excess air. Gets in the little nooks that are hard to wipe by hand!
