    • I thought we were finally hitting our stride back with Rivers and Co. in 2020. We won 11 games and had we made just a few more plays, we would’ve won even more. Then the collapse at the end of last season and god knows what happened this year. The whole organization just seems to be emotionally crumbling, circling the drain. And now we are in ruins, like the statue of Ozymandias. I’m just grateful I got to see my Colts win it all as a kid in 2006. • Personally I feel like the 2019-present Bears should be included as well. Had a surprising 2018 season going 12-4 and winning the NFC North, followed by the most embarrassing loss in team history. Had a lot of potential in front of us, and had the feeling that we would be a dominant force for years, back to back 8-8 seasons in 2019 and 2020 with another playoff appearance but the wheels really started to fall off as we slowly morphed into our old selves. 2021 and 2022 have been so disastrous, but I have confidence that Fields and company will soon lead us back to the glory days.

  • 2 Vikings teams that deserve to be mentioned: 2001, the death of Korey Stringer, Denny Green lost the entire team and subsequently fired, the defense was atrocious, Carter and Moss argued a lot on the sidelines and then Mike Tice gets hired And then 2010, Favre plays the retirement game again and then completely struggles and immediately looks old and washed up. The Randy Moss trade that completely blew up in their face, Childress gets fired. The freaking Metrodome roof collapses, literally everything that could go wrong for the Vikings did go wrong and the franchise went into turmoil for a few years.

  • 9:26 Okay the collapse of that Titans team from 2003 to 2004 was mainly due to Eddie George getting released, and probably the biggest loss of all was Jevon Kearse leaving for the Eagles in free agency. Kearse was a leader on that defense and sort of the glue that held them together. Titans defense took a few years to rebuild themselves back up around Bullock, Haynesworth, and Vanden Bosch!

A few more that could be mentioned. 1980 Buccaneers- The feel good story and division champions of '79 returned to their last place ways at 5-10-1. 1990 Broncos - 11-5 conference champions in 1989 saw everything go wrong in '90 at 5-11. Also honorable mention (pre merger era) to the 1964 Giants. Three time conference champions from '61-'63 got old all at once and finished last at 2-10-2 in a seven team division. • As a Cardinal fan, I have this: 1976 they go 10-4 and miss the playoffs. 1977 they went from 7-3 to losing the final 4 games to finish 7-7 then they lose the first 8 games in 1978 although they finish strong going 6-10. 1998 they make the playoffs for the first time in a non strike season since 1975 and even upset the Cowboys in the wild card game but the following season they go 6-10 and didn't have another winning season until 2008. Speaking of which... 2009 they go 10-6, win the division for the 2nd year in a row, and win the highest scoring playoff game in history only to go 5-11 and finish last in 2010. 2015 they go 13-3 and ended up in the NFC title game only to go 7-8-1 the following year. And finally, in 2021 they start the season 7-0, ended up going 11-6 and got completely embarrassed in the wild card game then in 2022 they're going to finish 4-13 and in dead last.

  • I feel like you could have put half of Mike Smith's Falcons teams on here. It puzzles me how he won Coach of the Year three times when he could never put together a string of good teams. There's a reason why he hasn't been a head coach ever since the Falcons canned him. The 2002 Rams always get a mention on these lists but everyone forgets that the 2002 Patriots went 8-8 and missed the playoffs. The 2020 Texans had a Divisional Playoff hangover, going 4-12 the season after blowing their 24 point lead and losing to the Chiefs. The 1982 49ers went from winning the Super Bowl to going 3-6 in a strike shortened season. Yes, there were only nine games that year but it feels like it should get a mention.

  • Uh, tell the whole truth. Ted Washington broke his damn leg in 2002. The Bears' defense suffered because their methodology didn't work without him. The entire point of that defense was to occupy the o-line with big bodies up front so that Urlacher and company could mop up behind them. Without Washington they couldn't control the field. They didn't just fold and become "the old bears". It was more than just mentally checking out.
