  • I appreciate you showing everything when you hunt. So many other hunting videos kinda cut out the bit where they run around for a while, its a fact of the trade but its important for us to remember these are real beings and we should respect them and what they give us.

  • Pretty sure that shot hit. Also I wouldn't mind some data on that 6mm dasher. As an armchair shooter (yeah I don't do it for real yet) I like to create all these ballistic charts using a solver I have on the phone. I've figured you've been using a 100m zero but I cannot obtain a muzzle velocity, G1 BC and weight of 6mm dasher that yields the 4.8 mrad at 770m. I have tried the 105gr version and it is still over 5 and even the faster 55gr ones are still quite below the 4.8. Thanks.

    • I've honestly never heard somebody that says you can't hunt with a 6.5 cm. I shot a turkey at 800 yd 2 days ago with a 223. On our farm, 22-250 kills several elk a year. Not legal to hunt with that small of a caliber in this state, but these are out-of-season crop damage tags. It's all about a well placed shot. I've killed whitetail deer with a 22 caliber air rifle shooting 23 grain slugs at 980 fps.

    • And yes, the turkey was as much luck as skill, but 30 minutes later I managed to land 4 consecutive shots on a 12-15 inch rock at 890 yards. Ruger american .223 shooting AAC 5.56 77grn OTM. Amazing consistency for bulk ammo that's $11 a box.

    • @@ethangshooting21 Good to know. I have pretty much only shop out of one lot I'm sure. What I've shot so far has been out of the same order so I'm guessing it's all the same lot number although I haven't specifically checked. I actually don't have a chronograph that can read higher than 1200 ft per second at the moment, so I haven't ran any of it across a chronograph, but with AACs advertised ballistic coefficient, my dope seems to be roughly lining up at 2800 feet per second instead of the advertised 2700 on the box. I'm guessing that was tested with a 16-in gas gun though.

    • makes sense since a ton of people who hunt rarely ever shoot for practice, dont know how to zero properly(or mount a scope), doesnt know zeroes change when you use a different box of ammo, and they are just hoping their poorly placed shot did enough damage to kill the animal 😅 ive met too many of these type of people 😅

  • If that was a hit, I think maybe a gut shot with how fast he ran off? I have only shot one babboon in my time. Was a head shot at about 200meters. So the only body movement I saw was it falling on its face.
