Last year for my birthday my wife got us tickets to a special screening of this followed by a Q&A with Mel Brooks. Everyone laughed all the way through the movie like we’d never seen it before. Then Mel came out and talked. He said making this was the best movie making experience he had. It was supposed to be a Q&A but I think they only got through 2 questions because Mel would start answering a question and lead him to talk about Gene or Cloris or Madeline and it’d lead him to tell another story. He was great. He realized it took forever to answer the first question so he let the audience decide if we wanted him to stick to short answers and more questions or did we want him to talk about whatever he wanted? We were overwhelming in letting Mel talk about whatever he wanted and he talked for over an hour and a half. It was fantastic!

The greatest "sight " gag ever written.
"Soitenly! You take the blonde, I'll take the one in the toiban! " gets me every time
richintalent thank Groucho!
richintalent reminds me of “coily” (curly) from the 3 stooges 😂
paxsmile exactly what I was thinking! Nyuk nyuk nyuk! 😂
Marty Feldman doing a Groucho impression. It's perfect. The folks thinking Curly don't get that Curly was a buffoon character, while Groucho was all about wordplay - which is what the joke is doing with the deliberate misinterpretation of "bags."
Yep, but his attacking the fur fox tail was the icing! !
It was fantastic!
ksir priceless
You lucky person you!
Wow! Sounds WONDEFUL!!
N
I also saw an interview with him in which he said that they only had about half a movie when they finished with the scripted material so he had every one ad lib scenes; therefore, half the movie was based on just the comic genius of the actors.
Igor attacking Madeline's fox fur kills me every time! LOL
This is how I will always remember Gene Wilder. What a wonderful movie!
Patman Crowley I always remembered Gene Wilder from this movie and Charlie Chocolate Factory.
Yep- and "The Producers" omg classic Gene in that scene were Zero Mostel yells at him!!! So "Loony Tunes" bugs bunny moment there lol!!!
Yes this is how he'd want you to remember him
Jesus christ Madeleine Kahn was such a beauty. Absolutely stunning but also so professional. She never cracked a smile or laughed until after "cut" was already yelled or until after someone else laughed or ruined the scene. Gone too soon, amazing and beautiful talent.
Why can't they make movies like this anymore? A true masterpiece of comic genius!
Kitti McFurface because Mel Brooks isn't writing and Gene Wilder is dead.....
too much money in franchise movie junk.
Because the PC police have zero humor... you can’t make a movie that won’t “offend” at least train wreck
They don't have talented actors like that any more. That's why.
Because today's stuff is not funny, the actors and actress cannot act, and the movie turns out to be complete junk. Stupid!
Madeline Kahn was such a pro!
Every time I see her I instantly think "I'm not a wabbit!" (Blazing Saddles:)
always!
@@CamilleGG451 "Shut up, you teutonic twat!!"
@@centuryrox OMG that's right! 😂😂
Keeping character while being that close to Marty Feldman's lunacy. Madeline was a national treasure.
Madeline Khan & Teri Garr - both beautiful and wonderful comedic actresses. Perfect pairing with the legend....Gene Wilder.
Holy crap, Madeline Kahn was absolutely unflappable.
klojinum not unfappable
@@danielishere734 well played
@@danielishere734 i applaud you for rhis wordplay my dear sir
When my now grown daughter, Grace, was about 11, we would get our snacks and soda, sit in front of the fireplace, and laugh throughout this movie. Some of the best times of my life.
That’s a beautiful memory. My grown daughter and I would also snuggle together and watch good movies.
Terri Garr looked absolutely incredible!!!
Incredible to think that 30 years earlier, Mel Brooks was diffusing bombs and mines during WWII, yet went on to create such wonderful films that made us all double over in laughter. A true genius.
Still kicking.
There is no talent today in the same universe as that cast. The great Madeline Kahn died At age 57. One of the greatest tragedies in Hollywood. She was beyond brilliant
You haven't even touched your food! (slams hands into food) THERE, I TOUCHED IT!
Most. Quoteable. Movie. Ever. "Put. Zee candle. Back."
beck
yeah it's definitely "beck"
HIII!!….I, ain't got nobody and nobody cares, anymore, yakataka, yakataka, HA!
A friend of mine once had a coworker named Kendall Beck. She had a hard time keeping a straight face when she heard his name.
What knockers.
Kahn never broke up first. She was a class act.
I watched her act with her eyes when the camera held its gaze on her.
That's because she was looking at the camera and not Marty Feldman
Almost Gloria Swanson-esque
All the way.
I'd do as many re-takes as I could with Teri Garr. Good gracious.
Saw this movie with my father when it first came out. I was a senior in high school. My dad was a big Nelson Eddie and Janet MacDonald fan. When Madeline started singing "Oh sweet mystery of life", he fell out his chair laughing. One of my favorite memories of my father. Still miss him after 23 years. Hard to believe I'm almost as old as he was when he passed.
i'm a year older now than my dad when he passed. he had a passion for blazing saddles, but he enjoyed Y.F almost as much. tempus fugit.
memento mori
yes, that's a great memory
I can relate
I can relate, I first saw it in a theater with my grandfather. Now it makes me think of him.
Madeline Kahn you are missed. :'(
i saw her in a Broadway play in 1993. The moment she entered and said her first line the audience roared in laughter. The rest of the play was pandemonium. Just continuous laughter every time she said a line. She was one of the funniest people in the world.
@@SymphonyBrahms Was that "The Sisters Rosensweig"?
A wonderful actress Madeline Kahn. So beautiful, and funny. Her composure during the bloopers was quite amazing.
Never get tired of watching Young Frankenstein. The whole cast were comic geniuses. There timing was impeccable. Sure miss good comedy.
May I suggest Jon Pinette....
My favorite scenes include Madeline, particularly "What is it that you do do?" Her facial expressions are ever changing, always on the move, incredible acting. I just love her.
reminded me of what at 1920's star would do with the lines. funny
"bloopers and outtakes" aka, "Gene Wilder laughs for seven minutes"
I wouldn’t have it any other way!
@@bagotoast Same here. This was wonderful.
And he laughs at nothing.
Wow. You realize it IS a comedy?
So what?
My god, Madeline Kahn was so beautiful and wonderful!!!
The great Marty Feldman
British Comedy UK he was great in everything he did.
I attached a Marty Feldman line from this movie today to an internet joke I passed on about humps on a camel's back: Hump, what hump? There will never be another one like him.
just how he looked was funny enough!
@@bobcampbell7596 your sense of humor overwhelms
Does anyone know if Marty was related to Barbra Feldman (agent 99 in get smart) or Corey Feldman ?
Gene, Marty, Terri, Madeline, Cloris, and Peter: _what_ a cast for such a movie !!
Possible the most perfect movie ever made.
Some Like It Hot won that title, buddy.
The film where I fell eternally in love with Teri Garr.
Your opinion....buddy.
Max Brazil As did I! 😍
High anxiety was really funny too.
Finally KZhead recommends a video I actually wanna see
The blonde in this movie is world class. Good lord.
The world got quite a bit dimmer when Gene Wilder left us.
Mel Brooks made the best comedies: Young Frankenstein, Men in Tights, Blazing Saddles, The Producers, History of the World. Today's comedies are just nasty not funny. Brooks could make you laugh out loud while having something to say with his comedy as well. Pure Genius.
Don't forget "Dracula, Dead and Loving it" :)
I agree. Mel was the best at using innuendo in his movies. Not the blatant, in your face, like nowadays. We had to get his mov9 on DVD and bluray, so that they would be uncut. All hilarious!! All classic comedy.
This era of genius would have PC frowns today... There was fun and indifference then. Nowadays it's cheap. So many sitcoms then truly told the narrative.
Frankincensed 👏👏👏
Yes but it was Gene who wrote this.
Teri Garr and Madeleine Kahn...two great but underrated actresses
They were so beautiful, and yes, they were underrated. I thought that Madeline Kahn was also a good singer but not sure about that. I always had a crush on Teri Garr, even as an adult. I think David Letterman had a thing for her. She appeared on his show a fair amount and she also was on Johnny Carson occasionally.
David Letterman was just a little bit cruel to her. A lot of appearances but a lot of snide jokes about her lack of work. She gave it right back to him.
Yes, great comediennes. That's a dignified word that should be brought back btw. Enough p.c. bullsh*t, male and female comics are different. Garr and Kahn were attractive feminine women who were also very skilled and funny.
@@dickbird61 To flesh out the thoughts on this, I like how Sarah Silverman talked about gender in comedy on her hike interview with Kevin Nealon on You Tube.
Ivan Cervi Yes!
All except Teri Garr and Mel Brooks have passed on, RIP and thank you for the wonderfully funny entertainment
Had the pleasure and honor of meeting Gene a couple times. Besides being a great comedic actor, he was an amazingly sweet man.
Marty Feldman was a comedy genius, and everyone was perfect.
Damn Terri Garr was So HOT!
Jose Montano so pretty
Hubba Hubba
That accent brings her beauty to whole new level!
"WHAT KNOCKERS" "Thank you Herr Doctor!"
You damn right she was!! Holy shyt!!
Gene wilder was an excellent actor.
Frozen gamer he was Willie wonka too
Yeah. He almost never broke character either. 😒
Easily in my top 3 favorite actors
He truly was and I miss him, and Madeline Kahn.
good to be an actor great to kiss hot women
how many times did poor Marty Feldman get whacked LOL
🤣🤣 poor guy
Right?! 😆😆
@@KPochuski90 - Ms Kahn can whack me as many times as she likes - swoon!!!
I doubt he was complaining....lol
I was 12 when this movie was released and we saw it with my parents at the theatre. Teri Garr was my first onscreen crush, absolutely gorgeous...
Madeline Kahn was stunning ❤ I miss her
LOVE this movie...and Teri Garr was so beautiful...
Firstly, there's little more joyous in the world than Gene Wilder laughing. And his glassy silent-era stare into the distance was bang on.
I love it when Gene tells blucer "Nothing" when she keeps asking him if he wants something before bed. Epic!!
OVALTINE! lolololololol
Props to the one-in-a-million cast, it's a milestone in comedy. But I've gotta give propers to the cinematographer and production designer(s) and other technical behind-the-camera folks. They really caught the atmosphere of the James Whale classics, I still can't believe how authentic it looks!
Cloris Leachman was an absolute genius! Underrated and beyond talented. Why do people always forget her talent? This is one of the best-casted movies of all time. The only actor missing in this movie is Gilda Radner.
You gotta wonder how they ever got any scenes done at ALL! Still probably my favorite movie of all time.
I love hearing Cloris drop her accent!!! 😍
Madeline Kahn, Gene Wilder and his wife Gilda Radner which was not in this movie were the funniest people in Hollywood They were the real deal, I miss those people and those years when movies were really good!!
One of the best movies ever! Even after all these years it still makes me laugh out loud.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
One of the funniest movies ever!

Lisa O. Davis agreed
Lisa O. Davis 👍🏻❤️

I loved this whole movie! " Go ahead, say it, he was my boyfriend " ! And " Put the candle back " ! Are Two of my favorite lines! Just hilarious! What a great cast too! Thanks for the wonderful fun and memories!
Absolutely love this movie. I quote it all the time. This movie solidified Gene Wilder as one of my favorite actors. Plus Madeline and Teri were gorgeous in this movie.
I'll take the blonde you take the one in the turban.
How the feck can you leave out the genius that was Marty Feldman?
Jason Walker -Ah, Abby something.... Abby Normal
Jason Walker, I do, too. I was 3 or 4 when this movie came out.
Even better in Blazing Saddles
Mel Brooks was a comedic genius
His jokes are super basic. Age has nothing to do with it, even for the time he had mediocre jokes
@@corncobjohnsonreal he has millions of fans, many classic movies and is a comedy legend. Your opinion doesn't matter. Maybe watch a different KZhead video if u dont like his comedy.
Marty Feldman. A class act and comedy legend. He fucking kills me STILL lol

One of my favorite movies! Comedic genius.I 🤣 every time I watch it. Great cast and great writing!
This movie was nonstop laughter. Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn were pure comedy genius! They are two of my all time favorites.
One of the most wonderfully, silly, hilarious scripts ever written by Mel Brooks; delivered by a fantastic ensemble of actors just perfect for their parts and all under the direction of Mel Brooks. One of the very few 'comedies' that make me truly laugh out loud. RIP to those of this group who made so much magic but who are now playing 'the big room in the sky'! Thank you to all of you. BH
If I could only watch one film over and over for the rest of my life, this is it..Never tire of it.
Imo THE best Mel Brooks comedy, I absolutely love it.
Oh how I miss each one of these incredible people. The best.
Where have all the great actors and actresses gone,to that great theater in the sky.
Cloris Leachman, at almost 94 years of age and still acting. Marty and Madeleine left us far too soon.
So funny, the best comedy with an amazing cast. Thanks Mel Brooks. 336 dislikes should be kicked out of the human race.
I'm glad Gene was born in the time of talkies ... but he would have made an OUTSTANDING silent screen star. What expression !!!
I loved when he asked Igor🤪 which brain did he give him for the monster and he replies .... Abby Normal(label on jar reads Abnormal. Lol!) The crowd went wild in the movie theatre
Making this movie without laughing was extremely hard because the movie itself was already very funny and recording with Igor must've been extremely funny haha
Madilene Kahn was in a league of her own
Star cast....class film...love them all soooooo muchxxxx😃😃😃😃💖💖💖💖
Love anything Mel Brooks does. Young Frankenstein was and still is hilarious.
Easily one of the greatest comedic classics of all time. It's highly unlikely such a gifted cast could ever be assembled again. Almost all these fantastic actors are gone now. But their genius lives on. They will forever now be "puttin' on the Ritz"
Wilder, Leachman, Garr and Feldman were AWESOME together. LMAO! I can NEVER get tired of this film.
It only makes sense that the funniest movie ever would have the funniest outtakes ever.
Madeline Kahn was not only sexy but funny as hell!
Just watched this movie again last night, such a classic & will never not be funny! Def one of the most quotable movies ever! “Well they were wrong then, weren’t they??” 🤣🤣👍🏻
Gawd, Teri Garr was GORGEOUS!
Remember seeing this in the theater as a teen. We were screaming with laughter.
One of my all time favorites. Gene Wilder even said it was one of his best times on set, he didn't want it to end.
Only a few actors are still alive from Young Frankenstein 😢 These were the best of the best.
Now Teri is the only surviving actor. Besides the great Mel Brooks.
I believe only Teri is alive now
the stare down of Marty and the fox stole is classic...absolutely love the ending of it
These 4 actors are the definition of being an entertainer. So talented and gifted and missed by there many fans. RIP
I just love this movie!! Madeline Kahn was sooo funny, in all the movies she was in.
Gene Wilder has one of the most comically expressive faces I've ever seen, I love this movie. If anyone wants to see his best reaction without saying a word look at him in woody allens "everything you wanted to know about sex" when he's told by his patient that he's in love with a sheep.

Simon, thank you so very much for the link! Gene was an exceptional comedic genius! His timing was superb! His greatest attribute was that he said substantially more through his facial expressions and responses that mere words could never do justice! Not too mention, he Enjoyed "sharing" scenes and "playing" off other actors. I must admit, I loved it when He married Gilda!!! She was my idol!!!❤ I'm happy they're together again!❤😇
Me too! Although for me, mint sauce is involved... ;)
Simon O'Conor “that’s it, I’ve had it with these cheap suits!”
I thought nobody else in the world would have that particular cinematic moment stored in their memory banks and appreciate it for its genius - thank you for proving me wrong.
A timeless masterpiece that movies today still can't touch. This will forever remain as the gold standard of how a great movie is done.
Madelyn Kahn was such an incredible talent. ❤️❤️❤️
Genius on display here folks. All of them.
Omg, you KNOW it took forever to get through a scene with all those folks🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Terry Garr and the late, great Madeline Kahn !
Loved this movie. It was comedy genius. The cast had such amazing chemistry. To see the blooper reel, i knew it was hard to stay in character and not break out laughing. This movie will forever be a classic. 💯😂🤣❤❤❤
dying is easy.....comedy is hard.
Peter O'toole. Groucho Marx had a great line about him saying what an interesting thing it was that he had a double phallic name.
This is on a very short list of films that have actually made me laugh while watching them. Brilliant, timeless, and hilarious: three qualities that you just don't find very often in comedies.
Terri was beyond drop dead gorgeous! So damn hot!
This film was hilarious but the bloopers made it more hilarious like we needed bloopers 😂
Teri Garr was AB-SO-LUTE-LY glorious! This was her peak pumping paradigm.
