The Mazdaspeed 3. Its a car we all love. But their are some flaws. The Mazda 3 MPS is not perfect. Today we talk about why the Mazdaspeed 3 SUCKS... ahaha maybe not... The Mazda Speed 3 is a great car :)
What is bad about the Mazda 3 MPS. This is EVERYTHING that SUCKS about the MAZDASPEED 3 MPS.
#SurelyDropALikeIfYouSeeThis:)
Whether you Have a Gen 1 Or Gen 2 Speed 3 this covers it all... I think.

It was hard to make trust me :( But what did I miss? I tried to say everything, as you can tell by the last 3 points. 😂
One downside is the gen 2 interior where a part of the interior comes off where the mini screen is at
I love my speed 3! It turns heads everywhere I go. Plus it makes a great sleeper, everyone wants to race
That is facts, sleeper status is insane
Happens with me all the time and I just have the usual suspects as far as bolt on’s ..however I did go with a CS TMIC and this help a great deal with performance and cooler temperatures. However it’s really all about getting a real good tune on these cars ..which is what I have along with the BO’s that I have on my car…oh yeah real good sticky tires help tremendously…
This was a hard video to watch, but honestly you hit all the points for the most part. Another thing that sucks but is small is that we dont have an actual temp gauge. Of course when you get an AP you do but still why wouldn't they just put one in lol
Yeah it must've been 😂 that's another good nit picky point too
I got MPs 3 myself 260 hp 400nm currently have to repair turbo and some other things but yeah… started thinking about chip running my mechanic said to me that 20% tuning would not have any issues considering reliability… but I don’t know heard somewhere if u got stock mazda then 300hp is max if I want to keep the reliability… I’m struggling now to decide
You should make one for the speed 6. I know the engine is the same and stuff but still. What limits does the AWD system have? I'd be very curious if you could throw together a video for the speed 6 drivetrain limits and stuff
I've got one coming for this
I absolutely love working on Speed 3s and 6s. I'm a Mazda tech and they're super fun cars to work on. If those Speed 3s were AWD instead of FWD, they would make an excellent rally car.
Ohhh yess, they’re pretty decent to work on from what i’ve done, asides from that bloody pcv valve ahahah 🤣🤣
Honestly? The design isn’t the greatest. I remember not liking either of the looks of these cars when I was younger when these first came out, though I must say they have grown on me.
Oh really? Im different, I really like how they look in my opinion, though ngl the 1st gen sedans look wayyy to good with some wheels and lows
@@LifeOfTuners yessir
Proud owner of one since 2011. It has over 180,000 km and haven't had a reliability issue yet... I love it...I'll never sell it! NEVER!!!
That is goals right there bro
in my speed 3 when i want to fly around a corner i stomp on the brakes to transfer all the weight to the front and sometimes but rarely drift around the corner
Ahaha a bit too much weight transfer then I see 👀
@@LifeOfTuners that's the right wait transfer, not too much. It helps you place the car better mid corner and mitigate understeer. It's pretty fun. Fwd is fun because of this too.
@@ruixitas that is true
This video makes me want to sell mine but you can’t get a car that is fun in stock form now
:( Every car has bad aspects, theyre great cars and that's why I love them so much, you can look at all the video's ive done on why theyre good, or why theyre underrated etc, they are great, but noone is perfect.
Volester N
Ayyy I did a video on that a little while ago, if you want a new car to replace your mazdaspeed, get a Veloster N!
@@jayespi37 yea but then your driving around that.... Thing
aye there nice aha
Another things i don’t know if it is only me but on my gen 2 my paint suck I need to repaint my car because the paint just start scratch and come off the car and it is the factory paint
Oh damn I've never heard of that one before
@@LifeOfTuners I live in a country with snow and a lot of salt/sand on the road so that doesn’t help and you have a high difference of temperature between the day and the night
Ah right, yeah my country's quite the opposite 😂
First two minutes were really confusing and ill informed. Fwd cars usually benefit from a rear sway bar to create oversteer and lose grip in the rear in order to swing out around while in a corner so you can straighten and power out upon corner exit especially on tighter corners. Ask me how I know
TL;DR The understeer under power will help correct oversteer.
I'm pretty sure I did one of the best explanations on why front wheel drive is objectively wrong wheel drive. Mate, every car has a rear sway bar lol. And no, that's not how most fwd cars are set up, it's only ever a mere slither of them, such as the mk7 Fiesta ST. Fwd cars are instriniscly designed to understeer, it's the safest option for most cars, and with the power going to the front, you can't steer. I'm not sure if you know much about the mazdaspeed 3s, but they are understeer prone in stock form
@@LifeOfTuners all cars are prone to understeer in stock form. Its the safest and easiest to understand for the average joe. Due to physics and weight transfer, most of the brake bias is towards the front. When I say rear sway bar I mean a thicker thus stiffer bar. That is implied. Most econobox fwd are macpherson front with a torsion beam in the rear such as the fiesta/mazda 2, honda fit, some of the newer mazda 3’s, etc. Even properly setup golden age civics and integras will have a stiffer rear. People even say when you oversteer in an fwd car you can catch it by powering out. You can’t initially turn in and start mashing it, but if you oversteer just enough you can start to accelerate on exit early to correct the car and have a faster exit speed than other cars. Watch some fwd rally cars or even some fwd on tighter courses. GTI and civic guys for example recommend thicker read sway bars in the list of handling mods and mazda 2/fiesta/fit guys use a torsion bar to stiffen up the beam and increase torsional rigidity of the rear
@@LifeOfTuners in regards to using percentage of grip in a ratio between cornering grip and throttle application (putting down power), it’s not as simple or linear as it may seem. FWD cars can still put power down as they corner. Depending on how the car approaches the corner (and sort of contradicting my previous comment) you can still accelerate during turn in. Just depends on the racing line
I mean yeah, same with the speed 3s, thiccer rear sway bars make a BIG change, induces a bit of lift off oversteer. But from factory it understeers and that's a negative
hahah dude at 1:30 where can i get the original footage ? :)
Ahaha right here bro kzhead.info/sun/gq-umLKFbINvgJ8/bejne.html
@@LifeOfTuners thank you
Allgood
Looking at buying a mazda3 mps this week, need your guys help
ohhh very nice, i did a buyer guide, the thumbnail is a few orange mps’
Have you ever driven a speed? The torque steer really isn’t that bad.
Yeah it really isn't, but ill say this, if you didn't know about these cars and didn't expect torque steer, that could be quite dangerous, but yeah once you know, it isn't even that bad really like you said
I don't agree with your Idea that rear-wheel-drive cars go better around corners.. Each car you showed with the rear-wheel-drive was a long wheelbase, put that into a short wheelbase and see them spin, your issue is that with a front-wheel-drive short wheelbase is you need to adapt to that chassis.
Its more the physics of tyre grip, the front tyres can only have a certain amount of grip, but they have to accelerate and corner. Where as a rwd can split that. Yes a lot of FWD cars can handle better then some rwd Its just that on a technical level, techniquely fwd platforms are less capable, in theory
To be honest after owning these for a year the biggest issue with them is their bland interior. Golfs may not be quite as fast (a dsg one is close) but mazdas have nothing on their interiors haha.
Golf's definitely have a better quality interior, personally I find the design super basic and bland, compared to the gen 1
You know im here!
Of course 🤘
I think 350 whp is pretty much were this car does real well but once you want to get up over the 400+ and beyond hp then you start really putting a dent in your wallet because there’s so much that has to be done to get to run good and be reliable .
I think a lower HP build would suit it's character better

1. (The good) I like the RPM redline, because I can hit 0-60 in second gear at 7k RPM. The drop-off is bad otherwise. (2012 MS3 stock) 2. (The bad) The hood scoop... WTF!? Bad Mazda engineering (IMO), but can be fixed with front-mount intercooler on Gen 1 or larger hood scoop on Gen 2. 3. 2021 Mazda 3 turbo. Your take? IMO, still waiting for Speed (If it comes back.)
Mmm yeah facts, it really stumbles me how the gen 1 and speed 6 didn't even get a scoop, like where's the thinking in that? I know it has a little flap, but thats not going to get the same air flow. I did a video on the Mazda 3 Turbo a while back, kzhead.info/sun/jNJ8Y96smX2AaK8/bejne.html
me watching this in my mazda 3 2011 1.6 knowing i dont need to worry about these problems (my car s kinda slow but fun)
My mazdaspeed engine is blown (overheated) . The car is parked waiting for a new engine. I don't sell the car, I love it. I bought an used engine, I am waiting it to be shipped to get the car running again.
damn bro that sucks :((
That torque steer video is mine not whoever you tagged. Fine to use tho.
Hmmmm yeah what the heck did I do? Sorry about that? Did you change your KZhead name recently maybe? Sorry
@@LifeOfTuners Yea it used to be my name Marc Gismondi, still its not a big deal lol
Ah right I see
Drop links are a problem on these aswell
Yeah truuueeeee I've been noticing way more people on the FB groups asking for drop links to buy
I don't even own one yet. I've been test driving them every weekend looking for a good one. They are still much better than a new Kia. 🤷♂️
Hope you find the right one!
@@LifeOfTuners looking at one on Saturday with 73000 miles. All stock except wheels and suspension and was a company fleet car for il it's entire life. I'm hoping it is less beat than what I've been looking at. 🤞🤞
@@thisislargemouth5566 oh damn nice hopefully
Common timing chain failure @ 90k miles plus the insidious Ford ABS control module fiasco. Granted it is a Ford ABS installed on Mazda 3 1gen + and anything Ford or American automotive is absolute garbage but still a wee better that German.
I wouldn’t go that far but who knows you maybe right.
Nobody knows and takes it seriously, more cringe than a Golf (EU). At least its quite unique
Yeah it would be nice if people respected them
Parts are so expensive 😭😭😭
The same for a lot of fast cars unfortunately:'(

Try owning a Mini Cooper S N14 haha
I bet 😭

Thanks you sir
RIP that silver one at the end 😢
Yeahhhh, I guess it shows not to buy 💩 wheels
Can't believe you think a mps 2.3 is better and more reliable than a evo 4g63t You must be on some good gear 😂.
fark a 4g i’ll take 4b any day ahahaha
So many Gen 2s are equipped with keyless entry and start. Literally every one near me has it, and that's a reason for me not to buy those near me.
And I can't find low milage gen 1s near me
Yeah I've heard there a common failure point
Hahaha😂
Just cant wait for you to built a car from scratch developing all on your own, we'll see
Can't wait to build up a 3 🥰

Bruh, I love these cars lmao 💀 look at the channel 💀 yes some of them are reliable, but 1 car doesn't change anything, some people say these are highly unreliable, I don't agree with that at all, but there are some issues, and they happen to most people, timing chains and turbos at 150k km, fuel pumps when you push over 280bhp Like I said I love them
