Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign. Apes are the dominant species living harmoniously with one another and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape will undertake a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
Starring Freya Allan, William H. Macy, Dichen Lachman, Kevin Durand, Owen Teague, Peter Macon, and Travis Jeffery.
A charismatic leader twisting the words of a historical idol for their own benefit. Sounds very human.
The irony.
*LISAN AL-GAIB!!!*
Because of Koba, Ceasar had the revelation that they were just as human as the rest of us. Its sad but very powerful.
In conclusion, all sapients are capable of evil.
@@uja11 Anything intelligent and self-aware is capable of evil. When these apes were just animals, they were only acting on instincts. There was mo moral dimension to their behavior.
I love how Caesar is now basically like *”Ape Jesus”*
Becoming the first ape that can speak has its benefits...
Ape Moses. He gave them laws. He led to the "promised land" and died in on a hill at the very end of the road.

In real Life
I was kinda wondering if some apes found old Roman history books and unknowingly/intentionally blended the history of Ape Caesar with Roman Caesars.
What a False Ape king!
I knew he wouldn’t have lived to see it, but I would love to see how Caesar would react seeing how developed and literate the apes become. He’d at least tear up.
Caesar would probably care more about how they treat each other. Intelligence is no good if it's being used for moral evils.
He would have one tear just like in the battle for the planet of the apes film.
Caesar would've just outright called him out of it like how he did Koba if he's still alive.

It absolutely makes sense that Caesar became a deity to the apes! I recently watched the trilogy for the first time, so I’m psyched for this
Tbh he kinda is. He made them as smart as they become. Without him doing what he did they would be just normal apes
He’s a Christ figure to the apes.
He became a Moses like figure
He gave Apes the intelligence they’re now using to make a civilization and led them to a land where they could prosper while teaching them valuable lessons. He might as well be their god
You should watch the originals as well
I love how some apes are clearly more advanced than others and thus are higher on the hierarchy

Watched this in the theatres yesterday. All i can say is, it lived up to the expectations. Classic movies like this are rare nowadays. Excited for the next part.
I Watched it and I was kinda disappointed. It feels devoided of that original spark. Why he wanted to conquer other apes? How some humans didn't return to the primate state? And how they make cloths if they are not that inteligent in that state as Noa pointed out? How they didn't know there are other humans out there? What was the egg ritual for, for what end? Why they rised eagles? They set some intresting things but don't really fallow all the way through. Proximus was set out to be an intresting villan but had little time and didn't really make me empathise with him at all. Koba was mistreated by humans, experimented on. His rage had justification. Proximus Cesar only wanted to have power. How he became power hungry? We don't know. How he convinced others to conquer other apes after Cesare Law to not kill other ape? We don't know. What other societies or ape are there? There are other conquer apes? It was intresting that he wanted to learn. It had being ingesting if there was other ape conquer and he only needed the weapons in the bunker to fight the other invader but let's say use human for that. That way he had being a villan for the humans but a hero to his apes. Thematically is not that deep. It rises some intresting perspectives, but don't go though with them. We didn't really see how he run his Kingdom. Only glimpses. How they didn't know there where other human settlements? For me Noa didn't filled the spot left by Ceaser. Here it feels like teenager drama but with monkey because it most probably is. A lot of things they did was cliché executed mid. Like the ending where at the last moment he become master of birds. It didn't felt earn at all for me. It was like an anime moment where he won because of power of friendship or achieve a new super power right there. Proximus will return most probably.
@@eduardmanecuta5350 bro what are you even talking about. You have to have a foundation before you build a house. You’re literally using kobas world building which was elorbated on for THREE MOVIES to parallel how you don’t know the characters. It takes time to build a world 😂
@@charleswills4453 You didn't get my point. You understood Koba motivations for his actions, here Proximus is evil kinda for the sake of it. What's Proximus motivation for being evil? Does the movie tell us. From why I recall. No. - that was my point. And Koba was the villan for ONE movie. And was barely present in the first one. Proximus was presume to be the big bad and he doesn't appear for half the movie. Your point doesn't stand. A good villan can appear for a few minutes and still leave a mark. Look at Cowboy Bebop (anime) - Vicious or at Constantin's (the movie with Keanu Reeves) Lucifer (Peter Stormare) who appear only a few moments at the end was full of charisma and you got the character and his motivation. Even if it was brief. Here Proximus had potential, a lot of potential but his body guard, the gorilla had more screen time then him.
@@charleswills4453 I think you were thinking at Ceaser, not Koba. And what world building in 3 movies you speak? This movie had already the foundations of the other 3 upon it. This didn't start from zero. And in the first movie I still cared more for Ceaser then I cared in the entire new movie for Noa. Ceaser didn't understood the world of humans, wanted only to be free and find someome same as him. He felt alone. He felt betray when Will left him after he tried to protect Will's father and was locked up. He was belated by the guards and other monkeys. He started a revolution in order to free his kind when he saw how they were treated... Noa has big shoes to fill. Ceaser was writen and acted beautifully.
I hope Kevin Durand gets the recognition he deserves for this role.
I liked him in Smokin aces

@@Jay.Lombardiiexactly man, he absolutely knows how to make you hate him. I’m 22 years old and vividly remember as a kid watching fruitvale station with Durand as the cop who killed Oscar Grant (played by Micheal B Jordan). Like to this day, I still look at him sideways because he played that cop role a little too well 😅, and even get slightly triggered when I see him appear in movies. I went to watch an interview for this movie and got PTSD from fruitvale station all over again seeing Durand front and center. Incredible actor and seemingly great guy nonetheless.
I love the symbolism of the protagonist named Noa(h) walking towards a giant ark. And the lead ape being named Proximus Caesar (proxy meaning to act in substitute of someone else.)
Yep. Ceaser was basically the Apes Moses. I thought the protagonist's name being Noa this time around was an intresting choice.
Proximus Caesar is just a pope basically.
Proximity actually is Latin got 'Nearest' or 'Next to'.
@@pending4363 Considering the apes are concerned about spreading his teachings I was thinking more ape-Jesus but Moses comparison works too.
I love how we're seeing a further development of the apes' caste system, with the chimpanzees/bonobos being scientists and politicians, orangutans being clergy and gorillas being soldiers. Seeing the society from the original film evolve into itself is so awesome.
Offering their hands to him for affirmation, and he just walks past them like they're nothing. Nothing like his predecessor.
The other apes did that for Ceaser as forgive me in sign language
This feels ripped straight from the original movies, and I say that as the highest compliment.
Proximus really Loves Arthur's intro
Caesar did anything and everything for his ape family and he NEVER thought himself as a king.
He thought himself as a protector. This dude is a tyrant
I wonder if Noa will become that kind of leader

They have built a strong foundation and now they are reaping the benefits of having done so. If they keep writing strong characters with compelling stories, this franchise could go on for years. I hope it does! Please keep going until finally we get to see that pointed spaceship crash land in the forbidden zone.
" I chose to trust him because he is ape. I always think ape better than human, but now I see just how much like them we are" -Ceaser
Its so weird seeing all the apes not doing sign language and speaking fluent english. They really are evolving. If this is a new trilogy, I'd imagine the one after that would be in the future, where they are fully evolved into their 1960s counter parts, like 100,000 years in the future.
If you also look they’re bodies are evolving, their facial structure is different and they have less hair on their body now
I believe in the original and remake timeline is close to the year 4,000
@MarloStanfield-ko2kk I'm glad somebody finally pointed that out. I noticed there was an ape next to Noa who looks just like pre homosapien
Hate to spoil it after 60 years but it’s nowhere near 100,000 years in the future and they don’t make it out past that point
It's like a couple centuries after the last new movie. Though it may look rushed, I buy into it. After all, apes evolving into human-like eloquent beings is purely fantastical and never conformed to evolution (their throats aren't built for human speech and I don't see why they'd evolve as such given increase in intelligence. Maybe they'd develop own vocal speech, but not mimick us perfectly.) Planet of the Apes is sci fi with an underline in the fi side of things, still with the sci socio-political commentary that makes the franchise so special. The team behind the movie said this would be the equivalent of the Ape's bronze age, so a bit left to go until we get the 1960 movie's time. I think they are trying to push into that goal of revisiting and remaking the original movie and I am stoked about it, can't wait till we get there.
WHAT A WONDERFUL DAAAY!

what is made very evident in this scene is how much of a complex proximus has he's smiling almost all the time when he's walking to the podium he's soaking in the praise and power he has as well as gesturing to himself as if he's a god .
So Ceasar is basically a prophet to them now
What's extremely fitting to me is that he is claiming the name of Caesar as his own, something that has indeed happened many times throughout human history, because a name carry's a lot of weight, and the name Julius Caesar remains a powerful one even in modern day history because of how influential he was when he lived. And in this movies case, Caesar didn't live all that long ago, at least historically speaking
