Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”) and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”) and Patrick Aison (“Prey”), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr., p.g.a. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, p.g.a., Amanda Silver, p.g.a., Jason Reed, p.g.a. (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

  • Why is it this franchise is the most underrated sleeper hit of the decade. It’s just quietly carving out its own universe creating legendary stories each film

    • In my opinion the best movie franchise out there. The villains are bonobos Wich is the most peaceful ape, Wich shows how twisted the villains have to be. The ape behaviour is much better then the ancient planet of the apes franchise wich makes it more compelling.

    • @@bladerj it's a different take. It's has to have the same stories for it to be a remake. This has the same concept and name but it's completely different. The modern day franchise begin when apes where intelligent and shows how one ape changed everything. And unknowingly sets out a disease that kills most humans and leave the survivers primitive. And it now goes into civilization. The old movies where set in a time where they where technically advanced. So not a remake.

    • It's here on KZhead. Nowadays, That is everywhere. People aren't going to the movie theaters where a new trailer would get hyp,ed up more. If you're paying for AD space, why waste it on television commercials not being seen by your target audiences. The Cesar saga was a very well done lone trilogy. If it's good it'll get traction. But anything coming out of Hollywood recently has been on a rapid decline from making quality stories. So we're on a "waiting to be seen until further notice." For the long lists of failings to make quality entertainment. It's sad, I grew up in the 90s, and movies were at their pinnacle, relevant groundbreaking. Part of a cultural zeitgeist, and some took it to places where there were works of art that struck a nerve with audiences.

    • This can be because the basic idea was actually taken from a real life mythological aspect... "Humans living Together with Apes" They could be referring to an in-universe era where they co-existed but, also there is a mythological aspect to this as well... In Hindu mythology, Apes and Monkeys are a VERY powerful part of history... They did indeed live just as the civilization shown here... In fact they were more advanced than many humans... Their strength was also supreme even when compared to larger than life human mythological counterparts... And btw, not to put any cringe religious twist on this, but I guess the original idea for this series was taken from Hindu Mythology... (Another fun fact : almost 30-40% Hindus still worship "Hanuman" as their deity, and he is an Ape-Human Hybrid)
