Stephen A. Smith welcomes Channing, Fred and Ryan into his home for a special edition of The Pivot.
Working together at ESPN, Ryan and Stephen A. talk about how their relationship got off to a rocky start and how the two men were able to eventually figure it out and come to good terms.
Never one to hold back his opinion, Stephen A. shares his thoughts on topics ranging from his personal life to Kyrie to James Harden partying to the Iverson days to taking over "First Take" from Skip Bayless. The former college athlete details his journey into sports media and growing up in a household of women who were his toughest critics.
"I never dreamed in my wildest dreams that I would be in a position where I'd walk into an arena and be more popular than 90% of the players," Stephen A. tells the guys as he opens up about his current stardom.
Ryan talks about some of the more controversial stories Stephen A has sounded off on over the years including Colin Kaepernick, race issues and being suspended from ESPN.
Rounding out the conversation, Fred talks about making mistakes along the way and relationships with athletes as Stephen A says: I don't try to protect players from being accountable, I try to protect players from being character assassinated for who they are,".
Prying about the mysterious personal life of Stephen A. and why that is something he chooses not to share with the world, Channing says, "Why not talk about it, I mean I've seen your house, I'd date you". The First Take host jokingly responds, "I never ask anyone about their personal life, ever, So I don't answer questions about mine."
New Episodes of The Pivot release every Tuesday at Noon eastern with special shows on Fridays.
Channing and Fred are genuinely made for PODCASTS. Ryan is just smooth as silk. They are all terrific

This was a phenomenal pod. Stephen A. gave us some great insight into his thought process and as always Ryan, Channing, and Fred were excellent at steering the discussion where it needed to go. Thank you for this.
SAS is a top tier orator, this comes from repetition and pure craft mastery. RESPECT! Lots of people undermine that and write him off as just a loud mouth talking head but you can really learn a lot from this brother. You don’t have to agree with everything he says or does but you have to respect the work he put in to get where he is 💯
100%
You already know the pivot is gonna let Stephen A. be himself. Conversation will be.🔥🔥🔥

I’m actually really glad to see Stephen A living a lavish lifestyle like this. Great example of choosing a different angle to still be around your sports dreams.
he gets 10 Mill a year. his last contract was like around 5 so what you talkin about.

I've watched this interview three times already and every single thing that Stephen A said is a gem, especially when he talked about the media industry. As someone who works in media in my own country, I aspire to get to the level SAS is in terms of sports commentary, being connected, articulation, trust from sports players, managers, executives and owners. I'm glad that First Take is now being shown in Africa because I could listen to this man's commentary everyday.

Really love that you guys closed with a nod to Stuart Scott. One of the best to ever do it. Great episode as always.
Pivot, nuff respect! Love the vibe on these podcasts. Authentic, keeping it real and some real guests. RC, Fred and Channing you the real people.
The trajectory of this podcast is going to be insane if they continue to find these awesome guests.
🤔 most DEFINITELY..... Raheem Morris Stephen A just WAITING for the NEXT 😲 THEY got THIS PERSON on a HOT MIKE

Jana Kramer, Michael Beasley, and Stephen A. Smith have been the best guests. TO is the honorable mention.

This was one of the best episodes. Been a fan of Stephen A for a long time. Stuart Scott is definitely the God Father and Stephen A had taken it to the next level! Really appreciated his candor during this. The guys do phenomenal work with this show!

To me this was the weakest interview for them. Stephen A Smith isn’t for the culture. I’m pissed off that they done this. Y’all can’t believe this dude. Wow. Y’all let me down!!!!
Don’t agree with SAS on a lot of stuff but I can give him credit for staying true to himself. Great episode once again
Same here. I've never really cared for him but I must admit he keeps it real.
Y’all don’t like his sports takes 😂 but he honestly talks his shit like how is fans think that’s why i don’t understand the hate
LOVED this interview!!! Stephen A has this ability to explain his point of view on subjects that just always makes sense. It was over an hour long but it flew by🙌🏻
Yeah, Stephen A. and RC were the pundits for ESPN.
There has been no Pivot Podcast that I haven't loved. My expectations for Stephen A. Smith's interview were far exceeded because I'm so used to seeing and hearing the loud opinions of him on his sports shows. To see him more tranquil in his home and be adamant about keeping folks out of his personal life was refreshing as hell. I'm proud of these brothers because I've always loved sports and this platform is the 'barbershop' version of sports that most female sports lovers can be a part of. ❤
It feels good to actually watch the hosts sit back and let guests talk without interrupting!

I have never missed a live, but I was at the DMV getting my car straight when this initially aired. I know this episode is going to be 🔥. Last week’s show was heavy, I like the light energy this episode brings, it’s a nice balance. Keep going guys. You are doing a tremendous job, and I really appreciate the variety of guests each week. Stephen A Smith is very engaging in this format. He's very charismatic and everyone listens attentively when he's speaking.
The Kyrie and Harden take was spot on 💯 Great episode ~
Very intelligent, funny as hell, controversial, business man, and human. Stephen A was born to be the face of sports television. Great interview
I am athlete has 33k views in 22 hours and Pivot got 85k views in 4 hours. We love this real stuff right here. Big s/o to the real ones out there who consume this.
The Pivot allows their guests to speak. That is one of the best qualities of this pod. Today they had a word smith on and he got to speak his mind. I appreciate that! If y'all want them not to let the guests talk go to that other pod!
🤣🤣🤣
Lets keep it as healthy competition between black brothers……but u right in a way.. after the Beasley interview i think the difference is clear as day

Lo
Stephen is on a different level than anyone else, everyone is playing checkers, and Stephen is playing Chess. One of the best lessons is how Stephen understands perception is everything. He takes his craft to the next level and elevates everyone around him-that is what good leaders do.
Or gets envious n pushes ppl out the door just like he did to max Kellerman....
@@Simon-cv3qt - I can't comment on that. I do not know Stephen or Max. My view is that Stephen has changed my view of him. What I heard is this- I am accountable for what comes out of my month- I am willing to give athletes free knowledge on how the media will perceive your action in public or what sport you play. I believe Stephen is trying to guide athletes from land mines within social media. I see a master class in how to be successful without all the hype -we see most successful people in their lives- listen to what he is saying, I mean listen. Stephen provided some life lessons to be successful and always stick to your principles. In this interview, he threw a million ideas to be successful for free. Successfulness is not always measured by money. Observe, listen, learn and adapt - my buddha way

Wow, you all did Stephen A a great service. I was beginning to judge him harshly for some of his opinions. You gave him a platform to humanize his perspective and his value system. You elevated Stephen A in way that raises his stocks even higher. Awesome facilitation. Ok, one more thing....lol. That elevated hairline is for real, always there.
