  • I have an energy drink problem and while I have never done anything like what this man did, I have definitely consumed waaaayyyy too many energy drinks some days. This video is definitely good motivation to moderate my intake of literal poison far more harshly. Small update: it worked and I only drink them when I really need to, although seeing as exams are coming up my intake naturally grew, yet is still nowhere near the amount it was before. Thank you for the likes and for this video showing that energy drinks aren’t just bad for you, they can be potentially lethal in the amounts too many people tend to consume them in. • The main thing I learned from Chubbyemu’s videos is that, as soon as you get hospitalized, for any reason, no matter how ashamed you might be, ALWAYS tell everything that happened to the doctors.

    @futuure@futuure2 жыл бұрын
    • While doctors obviously have a MUCH heavier responsibility to bear - it's kinda like IT support. If you don't tell them what you did or what happened leading up to the issue, as exactly as you can, they're going to have to spend a lot of time making guesses. And in the case of medical emergency, every second of wasted guesswork is a second where things can pass the point of full or any recovery...

    • This is very true, even if you've been doing illegal drugs. Doctors and medics aren't cops, they're not going to arrest you or turn you in, they just want to help. Them knowing exactly what you've taken and how much straight away instead of needing to mess around with tests and guessing could be the difference between life and death for you.

There's a monumental power differential, and it's a place where it is really easy to fear judgment, aside from any insecurities that you might have to begin with. I'd argue that it's just about as easy to fear judgment in situations like these as it is to dispense judgment over situations like these.

There's just something about surgically explaining each step of a person's descent into pain and death. I think the precedent those earlier videos set made me uncomfortable with this one too because I didn't know if it was gonna go left, but all in all this one wasn't so bad. The reenactment was well acted, and the stock footage was well placed. The host's lifeless stare while describing the person's condition is terrifying as usual (I swear, the man's eyes have not a single glimmer of light), but just the right amount of uncomfortability and terror. Testing in the last few years has shown increases in certain things that have lead to suspicions of kidney problems, but other than a renal ultrasound, nothing has been done further, despite the problem not subsiding over time. Thankfully I've cut back heavily on my energy drink consumption, and being on keto I have been drinking zero sugar drinks, but another problem that arises from excessive energy drink consumption is B6 buildup, another thing that has recently popped up in my blood tests. Looking at hypervitaminosis b6, it explains some of my symptoms. I decided to switch brands and found that the only brand of energy drink that doesn't use Vitamin B6 in their formulation is C4. There are some that have less than the DRV, but most are over 100% and many popular brands exceed it by 200 or 300 percent.

  • I’ll share my story that brought me here for anyone else who might be helped by it. I’ve been “addicted” to sugarfree redbulls for many years. At first it was two or three 8oz cans per day most workdays. Sometimes less. I work a very physically demanding job and am in pretty decent shape and health besides lower back pain from arthritis caused by the type of movement I repeatedly do. My intake the last couple of years has gone up to more like 5 redbulls a day including “off days” (in quotations because I’m never really“off”). I’ve quit for periods of time (weeks to months) and always eventually buy myself another redbull as a treat. I slowly build back up to many redbulls a day. This last time I took a break because they were starting to taste terrible, like bile. I felt it was my body telling me it was time for another break. I went about 2 weeks without one currently and bought 3 four packs (because they were buy two get one free!) on Friday. I drank one Friday evening as a reward for my oh so hard work week that was going to overlap into a lot of back breaking work over the weekend and continue into next week’s full load. I felt so terrible Friday evening. I laid in bed thinking my job was going to kill me (as I so often do) thinking perhaps it was the industrial strength bleach I inhaled once again, or the ammonia I whiffed shortly after combined with all the pain my back suffers I felt frighteningly weak and nauseous. My diet has been as good as an average American can maintain. I eat the best quality meats and vegetables I can find/afford. I rarely even have junk. Since January I can list exactly how many times I’ve had potato chips, chocolate or a margarita (my guiltiest pleasures) and they are very minimal. Redbull has been my greatest vice. Sleep didn’t resolve the pain. I woke yesterday feeling like the veil was thinning. I didn’t eat (I usually don’t in the mornings). I decided to lay in bed for a few hours before having to drive over an hour to give an estimate. I had myself two redbulls in bed as I have so often done on so many occasions and I didn’t feel much better or worse. When I got out to figure the estimate I felt quite awful. I was weak, dizzy, and again feeling like near death like I might very well just fade away. I worried about how long it would take for the owners of the house to find me. It would be a few days before anyone might come there. I pooped and felt a little better. I got my estimate figured and made it home. I continued feeling worried about dying all night. This morning I’m feeling back to somewhat normal and I’m certain the redbull caused it all. I believe I’ve been consuming those things for so long that the toxicity is becoming more apparent. I’m trying to find out what the Taurine’s role is. There is also something happening with the B vitamins. I’ve been listening to a doctor who has been trying to discover how to treat the body’s inability to process them and the use of a type of thiamine to treat it. This is where I am. Those other 9 redbulls are about to take a swim in my septic system.

Pre-diabetes is a warning diagnosis of sorts: If you make a point of eating healthier, getting more exercise, losing weight, whatever of those is relevant to you, you MIGHT be able to reverse it and not get diabetes. Of course genetics play a role too, and some people are all but destined to get it, sadly.

  • I can personally attest to hypertriglyceridemia causing accute pancreatitis. My doctor didn't take my word for it about my drinking, though. I spent half an hour in the ER getting grilled about my alcohol use. Apparently the doctor had gotten enough results back to know I had pancreatitis, though it took a lot of grilling me about drinking before he revealed that. Then my lipid panel came back and showed my triglycerides were over 3500. My understanding is that normal levels are generally under 200, and anything over 1000 can cause pancreatitis
