    • @@BattousaiHBr caffeine is arguably the most important ingredient in pre-workout. There are other ingredients that may help with pump and concentration, but its caffeine that keeps you going. The only reason to take a premade preworkout without caffeine is if you're working out a few hours before sleeping. Otherwise, if you're buying preworkout without caffeine, you're pretty much just wasting your money and being a sucker to either advertising or simply a bad product. The biggest advantage of having a bag of caffeine is allowing you to control the measurement of caffeine, instead of an estimated amount removed from a source such as a coffee bean or even a premade preworkout mix. I take preworkout sometimes and I don't know if that 1 serving is scooping exactly the perfect ideal ratio of whatever the serving is suppose to be. For example, if 1 serving scoop was suppose to be 200mg of caffeine and 100mg of everything else, I don't know if I scooped up 150mg of caffeine and 150mg of everything else.

This video is nice and informative with great visuals, but it barely even scratches the surface of sympathomimetic toxidrome or caffeine mechanism of action, whether you take college-level physiology or are in medical or other health professions school. People complain about their professors, but chances are they probably don't do that bad a job when you take into account the sheer volume of material that they have to condense and organize for you to learn in a short amount of time. Exceptions exist sure, but at least here in the US higher/professional education is largely of very high quality.

EDIT: Since people are morons, I have added the part in parentheses. He called 911 right away and wasn't embarrassed about his mistake to stop him from telling medical staff exactly what he could've overdosed on by accident, allowing them to have the knowledge to save his life. • When I was in a worse place mentally, I purposefully overdosed on caffeine pills after just one made me feverish. It was an odd impulse and I still don’t get why I did it. I took two more in the morning, four more at lunch, and eight more a few hours after that, re-dosing whenever my symptoms eased off. 2-4 left me dizzy, nauseous, and shaking all over. After I took 8, the nausea + my inability to stop my muscles from contracting resulted in me vomiting all the water out of my body. Sometimes my abdomen would stay clenched for so long that I would get lightheaded from a lack of oxygen, because I couldn’t inflate my lungs. If my parents hadn’t found the bottle of caffeine pills hidden in my tissue box and taken me to the ER, I would have died of either dehydration or seizures. I get weird when I’m reminded of it. I never had a panic attack before, my heart rate increased without reason and I got worried and went driving to the hospital (not a wise idea, but still, I was driving when it happened). They ended up injecting rivotril (aka benzodiazepine) on my veins to calm me down. I ended up losing the test obliviously, I couldn't drive after being sleepy from it. So I got up from the hospital, not in a sane mind, walked out, and ended up sleeping on the car. I don't know why they dispensed me, I guess they didn't knew I came by driving. The car was parked without the hand brake and I almost crushed a person that leaned on the car. That was stupid, don't lean on others cars, you never know if they are parked correctly, and it only needs a gentle push to crush someone, I woke up from their cursing, even on rivotril I couldn't have a deep sleep. All of that without abusing caffeine, but I got the same secondary effects described on the video.

I mean, you could just walk up and get out. Specially since there was just a door, no security or anything, it was a door that opens from the outside. If someone enters and leave it open, you can get out, as simple as that. You do have to return a paper signed by the doctor, so they push a button to open the door, I think I just escaped. It was a place I already knew and went several times. Not far fetched that I could sleep-walk out.

  • For heavy stimulant overdoses(cocaine/amphetamines),the first line of treatment is IV diazepam(a benzodiazepine). I would imagine the same could be done for a severe caffeine OD since benzos rapidly reduce electrical activity in the brain. They basically reverse the effects of stimulants. Although at a dosage like the one he took I could imagine additional treatments might still be necessary.

    @justinscaffidi3570@justinscaffidi3570 Жыл бұрын
    • At such a high dosage though, benzos can only occupy the receptors for a few hours at most before tapering off. In heavy overdoses like caffeine at that amount, you're only adding more byproducts that will put more strain on the liver as the enzymes ( Cytochrome P450) are constantly working to try and metabolise it which could cause further damage to the liver, renal system (worst case scenario) or even have less effectiveness. I'd hedge a bet and say that certain stimulants have a very short half and are excreted quite quickly from the body, and thus drugs like benzos are applicable when given through an IV You make a good point saying that it could be applicable to a smaller scale caffeine overdose

And the more you take the more binding affinity it will have so it will just be more powerful. And since it’s going into the bloodstream directly there won’t be any delay. So he could still have damaged something longterm, but at the moment have no problem and seem healthy again. A bit like the video about the girl that acidentally ate her dads eddibles and made a "full recovery". Universities in europe have shown that non adults that are exposed to a single use of THC (and that have a predisposition for psychosis or depression) can devellop a psychosis or depression. Single use! But it doesn't mean that that shows upt immediately 5 minutes after the exposure to the substance. And so it can look like a full recovery for the moment, and a few days or weeks later you got a problem long term.

  • I had a similar experience with too much caffeine. This was around February of 2023. I worked for a company that supplied vending machine snacks and repair services for vending machines. I woke up at 5 in the morning and clocked in at 7. During this time, I had to cover a job for someone in a giant refrigerator for two weeks. I hated this job, but still had to get through it. It was exhausting and sometimes maddening. For context, this particular company also made in house sandwiches, hot dogs and other foods like that in large bulk, sometimes up to 800 at a time. Throughout the eight hour shift, I had to sort out all of them to assigned drivers who would deliver these food items the following morning. Math was never my strong suit, and working in an industrial sized fridge, along with having to count these sandwiches one by one, and as an autistic person, it was very maddening to me, and left me mentally and sometimes physically exhausted. This was a big fridge, enough for a small crowd of people to squeeze into. For the first three days, it was hell. Then, there was something I saw in our break room vending machine: Java Monster. After seeing that, I guzzled a can a day. Then on week two, it was two a day, along with any mountain dew I had to drink with lunch. I think you can tell where this is going. One day, I was on my laptop, and was watching a video. I forget what it was. Suddenly, I felt my head spinning a little, and my body was shaking like a generator, and my heart rate was pumping out like a machine gun. Tumbling down the stairs, I thought I was going to have a heart attack and pleaded to mom. She knew what was happening, having 22 years in the medical industry. She told me to sit down and shake it off, and let it wear off. It thankfully eventually did, but I had health problems over the course of two weeks, along with the effects of not eating enough. I obviously did not have it as bad as this guy, but I am telling you now, caffeine poisoning is real, and it is agony. I have never touched another energy drink since.

    • My experience was a long time ago when i was a pizza delivery driver. I had to work a double which is basically all day. I didn't sleep well the night before, so worried that a bit of sleep dep would put me at risk, I started pounding energy drinks. Caffeine apparently doesn't have an effect on me as far as being "awake" and alert. I started off with 2 red bulls, nothing. Then got a Rockstar. Then got a Monster. Then got a 5 hour energy. Basically desperate to just have me alert and focused at the days' job in hand. My last delivery of the night, I'm at a gated apartment complex but they never gave us the code. That's when my heart started dangerously racing as if I needed to at least get out and move around. Sorta panicking. Finally some other car comes and opens the gate, I drop off the food, rush back to the store and rush home because it's starting to get worse. Talk about jitters x10. I had to slam down a few beers (I know that's not safe) but it being a depressant, I finally was able to just relax and not feel like I was gonna go into cardiac arrest

    • Most caffeine trip reports are around 1500-6000mg, some of those ended up in the hospital close to cardiac arrest. Apparently 8000mg is considered a fatal dose. 35 grams is an insane amount.

    • 160mg is not much for the average coffee drinker. That would be around 2 cups of coffee. If you don't regularly consume caffeine, 160mg is going to feel very potent.
