My mom is 99. When she is coming down with a cold, she immediately put Vicks on the bottoms of her feet, puts on socks and puts her feet on a heating pad on high for a few hours. She stops colds this way. It must be done at the first sign of a cold. Old fashioned medicine- you can’t beat it!

Im 59 yrs, and my mom would rub Vicks on our necks, wrap an old sock around our neck secured with a safety pin when we had colds. I love the smell of Vicks! Reminds me of being cared for.

Blocking the vapors with fabric is going to make it less effective. Heck I put a little on my upper lip.
An oldie but a goodie. I've known about this my whole life, as done by both parents and grandparents. A little bit of Vicks rubbed on the bottoms of the feet, then put on some socks, done at bedtime and it worked wonders for a chronic cough. My Mom would also rub a bit of Vicks above our upper lip, just under the nose for stuffed up noses. That also worked.
On KZhead I came across HERBALIST DOCTOR KINGSLEY who made an herbal remedy and sent it over to me here in the United States which I used for only seven (7) days and my long-term genital herpes was totally cured.
I also used in caregiving! A Lil under the nose can help you not hurl on a patient!

Last summer a truck rolled over and dumped it's load of Vicks Vaporub on the road. The driver was not injured in the accident, and it cleared traffic congestion for 8 hours.

Growing up, Vicks is all we had in the medicine cabinet. Now that I am 70 years old, I have continued that rule. I use it for so many ailments. Amazing what a little blue jar can do. Thank you for sharing this information.
I've had a cracked vertebrae & slipped disc & it's taken months to get better (I decided against an op) & I've been using Vicks on my lower back to ease the nerve pain. It's helped so much ease the pain!
I have disc bulge problem from 2013 and it has increased from neck to lower back back too I have used camphor ayurvedic oil and it is good for swelling and effective,apply neem juice over there it may help u try it, anyway I am going to try this too

Bought this pain relief oil out of Walgreens comes in lotion form also for neuropathy , called Frankincense foot pain relief. It cost $20 but has helped me a lot.

Tiger Balm is absolutely amazing. The red one especially. If I have a sore throat I just rub some around neck and its usually gone in a few hours.

What my family did when someone had a bad cough at night was place a warm hot water bottle on their feet. It worked like a charm and the cough stopped and they would fall asleep. I never could figure out why that worked but your medulla oblongata explanation makes sense now! Thanks so much for your channel!

I've used it on my feet whenever I have a cough, it helps a lot. Just to let you all know it helps with headaches too! And muscle soreness 😊

I would rub the vicks wherever it hurts, then if it doesn't work try it on the feet.

Works great when an earache is beginning .... Place a saturated cotton ball or piece of tissue in ear with vapor rub, relieves the pain💁
Rub it around your ear and on the ear lobe but don’t put anything in your ear.

My grandma taught this to my momma, and momma taught it to me. It works! They would rub Vicks on the chest, neck, feet AND the back. We were never down with a cold for more than a day or 2.
Vicks also works great on body aches (like those you can get if you have the flu, or after a vaccination, or after too much physical exertion, etc), apply it wherever you are hurting (it works even better if you apply it after having a very hot bath), and then go to bed with lots of blankets and you'll feel great the next day!

Mum used this on us as children when we had colds. Before bed used to “steam” us. A teaspoon of Vicks in a bowl on the kitchen table, pour in boiled water from the kettle, put a towel over our head and breathe in the steam for about 15 minutes. Then to bed with some on our top lip under our nose. Worked wonders.

This works fantastic on a bad cough that keeps you awake at night. We put it on thick with socks and have found that exactly every four hours. It needs to be reapplied! This is a necessary component of my medicine cabinet. Thank you.

I have arthritis and fibromyalgia! The combo can be quite painful and somewhat dehabilitating. I use Vicks and rub it on my neck back and hands. Not too much. And I get a great deal of relief. It's not a constant and forever relief But it provides a welcome break.
I know what you are talking about. I have both of those and many more health problems. There are a few ways to get some relief for a little while but the pain never goes away. I have back pain from numerous things wrong with it and one time my doctor asked how my neck and shoulders were feeling and I told him that my back hurts so bad that it took my mind off my neck.😂

Just found this video and the timing couldn't be better. I rarely get sick (flu, cold,etc.) but when I do it kicks me in the teeth. Well, I started the new year just right! I caught a bad cold on New Years Eve! I keep Vicks VapoRub in the house and was once married to a reflexologist, so I'm familiar with the connection the feet have with the rest of the body. I plan to try your tip when I go to bed tonight. I'll post tomorrow how it worked. I work in a long-term health care facility, so if it works , it will be a valuable asset to the staff!

It worked really well. I felt quite a bit better the next morning. I didn't expect relief, but with my past experience with reflexology, I was hopeful. Now that I know it works, I'll be using this hack any time I feel like a cold or whatever is coming on.
I haven’t come into contact with Vicks since I was a kid (in my 50’s now) but I read something recently about someone using it to relax. For a month now I rub it on my chest and lower neck before I go to bed and I swear it has improved my sleep and breathing! Give it a go and nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Dr. Mandell I'm 65yrs old. Grew up with vicks. My parents always believe vicks should be always in the house. Im a retired nurse worked in a very busy state hospital in the city. During Covid i advise my patients yo to use vicks, sore muscles, inhalation with luke warm water and little vicks. Iy works wonders Dr. Mandell. I have been using Vapor rub on the bottom of my feet for my coughing along with putting it on my chest and throat. Vapor Rub helps so much. I will keep VaporRub stocked in my home from now on. How much do you put?
There is nothing natural about Vicks.
Sliced red onions wrapped to the bottoms of feet are another natural remedy for coughing.
I used yellow onions (didn't have any red) - worked very well! No coughing, less congested...I'm using them again tonight. So far, so good, as I drift off to sleep.

Vicks Hack: put some Vicks inside of a mask. (The K95 or Kn95 type) Not the loose blue masks. Preferably in the creased seam. Put the mask on as usual. This helps to breath clearly without having yo apply directly on the skin or inside nose.
Just don't put a mask on at all as they don't work and never have.
The last thing I want to do when I'm having trouble breathing is put on a bloody mask. You can buy vicks inhalers and literally stick them up your nose if you want to, it doesn't touch your skin you just inhale the vapours

I have been using vicks on a patch of excema,it eased the itching and the redness has settled down quite nicely.Also if you rub it between your toes in summer,after washing,it stops your feet from getting smelly.

I love Vick’s Vapor Rub. I suffer from year round allegeries, so I use it every night. It really helps me from suffering and I started taking raw bee pollen and I haven’t had to take any allergy medication ever since. I rub Vick’s on my daughter’s feet when she’s sick, because she hates the smell on her chest and she usually wakes up feeling better. I keep it on hand 24/7-365 days a year. It’s amazing stuff.
I’m surprised that this product still exists. I’m 56 & my wife has chronic inherited allergies. It’s horrible for her. She mentioned that there was an over the counter medicine for allergies that actually worked but around 1998-or 99 the company discontinued it probably because it worked too good. Not Sudafed but i can’t remember the name off hand. But thank goodness for Vicks. 👍🙏
How do you use it for allergies? My nose is congested for over a year due to allergies. Doctor prescribed steroid nasal spray which I’m afraid to use.

For three days i used vicks on my lungs and soles for cough. I had no allergy stuffed nose anymore. Did not understand how. Didn t eat or do different things. Except the vicks! I will use it every night now.

I massage mentholatum rub with African shea butter on my feet and ankles. I put on some very thin socks and climb into bed. It's moisturizing and really helps my neuropathy. If I feel the sniffles coming on, I put a little on my chest and under my nose. It really does help with getting a good night's sleep.

Ive been doing this with my grandson. Back rub then a bit on his chest and back of ears before focusing on the soles of his feet rubbing/pilling his toes one at a time. He loves it and he's gotten over his cough.

FYI: I'm 66 and when I was a child my parents always used a Q-tip with Vick's on it to swab the inside of their nose and my siblings and I when our nose was stopped up. Worked like a charm every time to unclog them. I have chronic sinusitis and severe allergies and keep a jar of Vick's and a zip bag full of Q-tips beside my bed at all times. Makes life more livable when you can breathe through your nose.
Hi Doctor. In Puerto Rico we use it for everything. It is our National treasure 😊. You can also use it on your dog if it gets a tick. It fries that sucker up 😂.

Mom did this when my brother and I were little. We still do it👍☺️
