I work towards fulfilling a childhood dream of having a smithy by building a slight leaning roof for it at the end of the lopsided barn. Roofplates are added to the wall as well to hinder any mischievous sparks from visiting the inside of the barn and starting a party. A simple structure made from left over pieces of wood, that's far from a permanent solution but quite quick to put up so I can start forging sooner!

You have to start somewhere! Don't let anyone get you down. I retired two years ago and have been assembling my "smithy" bit by bit. last spring I put it all together. Lots of work, but loads of fun. You're going in the right direction.

Hi Kevin! Thanks a bunch, that really warms the winter days over in Sweden 😀. Since Maine is pretty high up in the states, it seems to be a bit like Sweden in it's climate. What's the temperature at the moment? We are a couple degrees below freezing.

Thanks Derek! The land that I build the smithy on is not actually ours, but the barn is ours and the land is rented by us. Felt like a bit of a weird situation to end up in when we bought the place. You should definitely go for it! I really enjoy the possibilities it brings :). Hope you find a good place for it!
