  • What's most impressive about Sid is that the whole time he's protecting the puck to this degree, he's also noting where everyone else is on the ice so he somehow still makes tape-to-tape passes to open players.

  • Can't get enough of the quality of these videos. Thank you so much for piecing these together. Every time I watch I learn so much. This video I really got to see how dominant he was when he was out of options and near the boards how his plan B was to pin it, protect the puck, and win that battle. Insane how he is able to do that. Imagine having that as your backup plan and winning that percentage of battles. That's why he has far more passing coming from behind the net than anyone else.

    • It was the same thing with Gretzky back in the day. Making a lot of his plays from behind of the net. This two guys (especially) have/had an amazing feeling how to protect the puck, move with the puck/quickly change their way of movement to get that one second of time to lose the opponent of their back and set-up teammates. But they also have/had their eyes on their back and very high hockey IQ to anticipate the play 2-moves ahead. That's just mind blowing, because everything happens in a few seconds. Hands down genius players!

  • I am a huge basketball fan who just recently got into hockey. Not sure how many here know him, but Sid's puck protection reminds me of Luka Dončić protecting the basketball. He gets his defender behind him, and then uses his body to make sure that the defender can't get back around in front of him. He bends at the waist a bit and dribbles a little farther out in front of him so that the defender can't reach around his body and swipe at the ball as he dribbles. He and Sid are so strong that they are almost immovable when they get into their respective positions.

  • Absolutely the greatest grinder of all-time. His skill set, speed, balance, strength, and finesse is unmatchable by anyone else in the league. Adding incredibly silky soft hands and a wicked shot makes him incredibly lethal. Not to mention his ice vision is one of the best the NHL has seen in the last two decades. Making an argument against him being the best player in the league is extremely difficult and even as a Rangers fan, even though I hate him on the ice, he is the best player in the league right now.

  • Watching Crosby out maneuver Mcdavid in multiple video clips tells me everything I need to know. I know McDavid is from another planet and all that and has an extremely unique elite skillset, but with Crosby, its just like watching a superhero battling against foes with lesser powers. McDavid pushes some great numbers, but one on one against Crosby I have never felt like he shows that he can play the same game he can. Crosby is just a unique type of player. His skating stands apart from everyone in the league. He is arguably among the most skilled, and is probably the strongest player on the puck. He is just way more gritty that Mcdavid, and I think that really sets them apart. McDavid lays waste to the rest of the league just as Crosby does (both in their unique ways), but when Mcdavid is headed up against Crosby, Sid can shake Mcdavid like any other player. Again, this is in no way to slam Mcdavid in any way. I know he is destined for greatness. But I just think, head to head, NONE of the greats can compete with Crosby. Maybe Lemieux, but Idk. I've never seen the tenaciousness and skill and strength rolled into one like that. We are all lucky to be able to watch him play in this era. It will never come again. He is truly unique.

  • It's interesting that Crosby is the best player in the world yet no player in the NHL or even in junior resembles his style of play...his short stick, almost straight-blade, lower-body strength, lower skate-holder all enable him to stay low to the ice to grind you down. (Not to mention the backhand) Instead you see nowadays, players with toe-curve, long stick emphasising shots, speed and quickness. I wonder why is that?

    • @@wowbruh2511 Every Crosby's better argument debunked. 1. Crosby's better because he has 3 cups / Talk when McDavid wins the cup, etc! - Using team won awards for who is better individual is an argument made by no one older then 14. Cups are won by teams, teams that involved 12-14 forwards, 6-8 defenseman, 2 goalies and 50+ staff in team management. This isn't a one-man sport. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't worth anyone's time. 2. NHL peers believe Crosby is better! - No, since 2016-17 (When McDavid passed Crosby) McDavid was voted best player in the league by the players, GM's, Coaches and associated media by official NHL polls. Who is the best forward (voted by players) - McDavid 63.6% / Crosby 17.2%. Who is the most difficult player to play against? - McDavid 30.9% / Crosby 16.0%. Since 2016 - McDavid - 2 Art Ross Trophies, 2 Ted Lindsay's and 1 Hart Memorial Trophy. Crosby - 1 Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy 3. Crosby is better because McDavid sucks a defense / Crosby is better overall / McDavid is all offense, etc! - Since 2016 McDavid leads in: less PIM, more takeaways (291), less giveaways (210), more defensive-zone starts, more time shorthanded and more. - Since 2016 Crosby leads in hits, blockshots and faceoff% with 135 takeaways and 218 giveaways. While I do believe Crosby is better defensively then McDavid it is not enough to pass McDavid as top player. 4. This argument isn't fair because McDavid is younger / Crosby was better at McDavids age! (Yes it's a ridiculously dumb argument but I've heard it) - Age is irreverent to who is best right now. There are no pity points here, sorry. 5. Crosby is just as good offensively then McDavid! etc - Since 2016 McDavid leads in: Even-strength and shorthanded goals, assist, points, plus-minus (while playing on the Oilers), higher-shooting percentage, exact same offensive-zone starts at ES, more game-winning goals and more. - Since 2016 Crosby leads in power-play goals, assist and points.... Crosby is world-class offensive talent, but when compared to McDavid it's not close. 6. These are just your opinions and don't mean anything! - um no? While I have stated actual NHL players, Gm's, coaches and media's opinion, which means more then some kid for KZhead's, I've stated many numbers/statistics/facts to backup my argument. The numbers aren't opinionated, they're facts. 7. You're just a Crosby hater! / McDavid cock sucker!! - Another great argument, but no. I've been a Penguins fan since 92 when I started playing hockey. Need an idol to look up to and I choose Mario. I've almost always liked Crosby, wasn't to fond of his attitude early on in his career but enjoyed him being a Penguin overall. But just because I'm a Pens fan doesn't mean I can't be honest. If you're a Pens fan you don't have to dickride Sid to others. There is nothing wrong with not being the very best. He had his time, he's still amazing, time to move on. If you have any other arguments I'll be happy to debunk them and add them to the list. Remember Crosby not being the #1 isn't the end of the world. Facts don't care about your feelings. If I find any new arguments I'll gladly add them to this.

  • *Simply extraordinary. I will always believe there is a CREDIBLE argument to be made that Sidney Crosby is one of the greatest athletes of all time in ANY sport. What he does on the ice is just too incredible. The sophistication of his game and his level of skill is on another level, above even the other elite players, of his era and every era past. We've seen him go up one on one versus the league's stars and just **#embarrass**# them, time and again, even while he's being double, triple or quadruple teamed, fouled, etc.* *Crosby shows time and again why he made The Great One - Wayne Gretzky - a Crosby fanboy. No one else can do some of these things that Did just does routinely, with ease.* *When I reflect on what a great career Crosby has, and how he continues to set himself apart, I feel lucky I get to be alive in the era of Sidney Crosby, to watch him play. To me, this is a treasure. I feel sad and perplexed by how many fans are so jealous, or who have such fragile egos or small minds that they can't just watch and celebrate what a privilege it is to watch a player of this caliber.* *Sadly, there are somehow still butthurt, so-called hockey "fans" who are so jealous and distraught at how he embarasses their teams, that they can't watch and enjoy and appreciate what a special Once Ever player this guy is. It remains a mystery how one can claim to be a fan of hockey yet not be a fan of Sidney Crosby. The cognitive dissonance and soullessness of such a mentality is otherworldly to me.* *Anyway, seeing all these highlights thoughtfully arranged, by them, back to back in a stunning array of skill from a Once Ever Talent is just awesome as usual. Thank you for your devotion to recognizing the best part of hockey and for crushing it yet again with another amazing video. Your highlight videos are the best in KZhead and I can't wait to see the next.* As a major side note, I wish the officiating in the NHL would catch up to modern technology so that the fouls and illegal tactics used by inferior or cheating players to undermine top, better skilled players, would be called properly, at long last. Even if the league has to add a new way of assessing penalties, enforcing consequences and leveling fines after the fact, it can still be done in a way that honors, preserves and elevates the game, restoring it to the clean game that it was intended to be, rather than an eminently bloody farce that too often awards the worst actors. (Can I say Brad Marchand, given the fact that I'm from Boston?) Such a change is long overdue and would be so worth it. Games are way more exciting when they are skills based, high scoring and full of finesse and when the violence and aggression is warranted and clean, rather than petty, desperate, pathetic, gratuitous or excessive as it so often is in the league these days. As a fan who PASSIONATELY loves the sport of hockey, I am sick of seeing brilliant, clean gameplay disrupted because the league gives such wide latitude to cheaters and pests, whether deliberately, or by default, for a lack of adequate countermeasures against it. But given that other pro sports have done so much to refine and hone their games making sure the games unfold in a manner true to the sport, the NHL's lack of action is willful at this point, and in my view, totally disgusting, shameful and unappealing. We have the technology to outfit hockey arenas with enough high def, high speed, super high frame rate cameras and the personnel - even computer algorithms to augment the refs - to catch things that the refs on the ground routinely miss and to incorporate instant replays and reviews into gameplay just like other leagues have done (NFL, MLB, etc). There is no excuse at this point other than corruption, incompetence, apathy or greed of league officials. As a fan, I've been so sickened by the league's apathy with regard to player safety and keeping the QUALITY of gameplay high -ESPECIALLY in the era of growing evidence of RADICAL DANGERS TO THE HUMAN BRAIN from head impacts and other life, health and career threatening events in the ice that emerge from illegal plays, that could be prevented by simply FOLLOWING AND ENFORCING THE DANN RULES rather than turning a deliberate blind eye - that I've gravitated away from regularly watching games almost entirely at this point, and I won't be back until the league decides to get their sh*t together.

Crosby is to me maybe the most complete player that ever stepped on the ice ... If he hadn´t so many injuries who knows where he could be .. anyway I won´t be dividing I Love both players to watch Ovi and Crosby each of them have brought something special to the game :)

  • How cool would it be if you did some videos like this on some older greats where footage is harder to find. Such as martin brodeur playing the puck from the corners or off dumps from the trap era before the trapezoid. Or even wayne gretzky going into how he dominated play from behind the net. Honestly you make great videos and it would be cool to see some of these from some of the other nhl greats as well.

  • Watching McDavid try to take the puck off Sid was comical, Crosby completely owned him. McDavid is the best offensive player and the fastest skater but the power, strength and control of Crosby is clearly unmatched. His 200 foot game is the best of all time

      @wowbruh2511@wowbruh25114 жыл бұрын

  • Guys like McDavid and Mackinnon have blistering speed and incredible skill, but I've never thought they're that exciting to watch compared to Crosby. If you watch their highlights, it's mostly them outskating the opposition and then putting the puck in the net, to the point where it's hard to tell many of their highlights apart. Since Crosby's game is about puck protection and lower body strength his plays 'breathe' more and are much more dynamic. I guess the closest thing to that today is Kucherov.
