The 2 flames players colliding and the bruins player getting the penalty is a perfect representation of officials this season
Says everyone every season in every sport.
@@dankauffman3456 Your point being?
Wes McCauley is forgiven this year after his Hat Pick hit on Marchand.
@@akimomalrov3241 His point being, it's normal and is bound to happen in sports no matter how much everyone whines about it.
@@datpmf Oh well then. Guess we can't point out the mistakes since it happens every year.
Wes McCauley continuing to prove why he's the most beloved referee 🤣
That needs to be in the end of season dang-its video
I don't know why that hit was in Dang-It's. it's clearly the Hat Pick of the year!!!
Lmfao it’s legit a hat pick
he's got my vote now :)
Can we admit that if it happenned to any other player everyone would be crying about the refs? But since it happenned to Marchand it's funny?
7:43 Calgary’s arena playing “Come Together” after their own players collide is really something.
"If you're a defender.. DEFEND the GOAL!"
"If it's your goaltender, don't score the goal!"
This is the best one for sure.
This one.
Well, unless it is on the opposing goal, 'cause goalie goals are awesome!
How about "Goal-dang-it"?
Jarvis said in a post-game interview that he knew Burns' shot was coming, and he was so terrified of getting plugged by the thing that he went into duck & cover mode
Can't blame him. No one wants to get hit by a Burns Burner
Yeah. I could tell when watching it that he was clearly ducking and covering his face. He knew a bomb was coming and that he was pointed face first at the shot.
Every team meeting they are required to watch Steve’s Dang-It’s.
If you're a goalie, TRUST NO ONE!
This has to win😂
Change goalie to goaltender but all in all I like it 😂
Have the X-Files theme play in the background 😂.
@@99brendanallen Good point. I stand corrected.
Best one
Too be fair that was a hell of a play by Mikko
Yeah it was. He gave Moose a golden opportunity and Moose don't miss those
But also, what the heck was Hill thinking? He had support below the goal line on both sides, and he decides to go up the boards?
@@reaganharder1480 I’m not gonna disagree with that! Right when it happened I was like “yup that’s a dang it!”
@Reagan Harder It was baffling. I get that Hill is a young goalie but come on. You don't give Mikko Rantannen an opportunity like that
@@soulknife20 the Moose was LOOSE
I was watching the Vegas/Colorado game when that happened I yelled "If you're a goaltender, TEND THE GOAL!"
As an Avs fan, I was a fan 😂
Exact same happened in my living room! 🤣
Same. 😂
It's spreading across the league, I've yelled it at a Caps game and heard it a couple times on TV.
Bro, it's about the 4th time Hill has done that this year lmao
No that’s a Hat Pick for Wes McCauley 😂
11:29 Imagine that happening in Montreal. Instant classic! Also: IF YOU HAVE A STICK - DON'T SCORE IN YOUR NET !
i would say stay out of the net =
@@jack_quinn_77 that too
That was the most game accurate L1 R1 I've ever seen.
I was waiting for the Marchand hit in hat picks only to see it here... well at least it was recognized 🤣
I’m literally sitting behind the Vegas goal when Mikko scored that goal. I had just fought traffic, got my beer and sat down and that happened. I stood up so fast, half the beer was gone. Oh well. Go Av’s.
If you're a goalscorer - it's the other goal!
“Before you score, get out of your zone” “Just because it’s blue paint, it’s not always the right goal” “You give give goalies trust issues”
The bigger dang it about the Stars goal, is that the last stoppage prior to the end of the period happened with 1:40 left. The whistle was actually blown at 1:42, and the clock operator didn’t stop it until 2 seconds later. If you check the full game highlights on the NHL KZhead channel, you can check it for yourself. I think that had the clock stopped even at 1:41, the Seguin goal would have counted. That’s a dang it
Excellent work as always I'm pumped for your stanley cup playoff live streams. Are your doing it this year?
11:20 Wes McCauley is an automatic hat-pick. Marchand getting knocked down (but not hurt) is also an automatic hat-pick.
Great presentation Steve, Just love it.
Steve your commentary on these dang its is hysterical. Loved it have a great day
Brodies sprawling snow angel move was hilarious!! Usually works better if ur moving forwards or backwards! That was hilarious! He just dropped where he was standing and did snow angels and they easily went around him like he was a cone in practice!!
jarvis hiding in the net is hilarious
2:14: It's like Copley was slipping on several banana peels during that entire sequence. Hahahahahahaha
After the flames coloring and the bruins getting the penalty and today (March second) the rangers going on the penalty kill for a “high sticking call” (turns out the stick that hit a senator player belonged to a senators player) really shows that we need to be able to use the replay to make the right calls.
That's twice this season that the Rangers were given a high sticking penalty when the two players actually involved wore the same team jersey (first time was against Colorado).
Another dang it: the called back goal that was a good goal against the Leafs in that Edmonton game because the ref couldn't see Samsonov drop the puck.
Why did I internally hear the Bennie hill theme song during the Vancouver goal review?
It was kinda hilarious that there was at least ONE comment on EVERY highlight video that had that Miko goal had the phrase "If you're a Goaltender..."
If your a defender, DEFEND YOUR GOALIE or goal if you want to keep it shorter
"If your offense is a threat, DON'T SCORE ON YOUR OWN NET!"
super agree on the cap on review time; especially on GWG I'd say 15 seconds for OT though, just live with the results at that point
The new one: "If you are defending, PREVENT THE GOAL!" To me this has similar energy
If you’re defending, defend the goal!
I also find it ironic how the background song for the zadorov hit was playing, "come together right now.." He took it literally
The Vegas Calgary game on 2/23, a ref was checked into the Vegas bench. I was sure it was gonna make Hat Picks or Dang-Its
Yes yes yes I knew you'd include the Rantanen goal from the Hill blunder! I even posted on a fan page that you'd include this the second it happened! Bwahaha It was a textbook dang it
Potentially hot take here, Jarvis jumped. That was two players battling for inside position and he felt the pressure and knew he might draw a penalty if he falls. They are neck and neck, if anything a push would have sent him into the post, but he has a direct hit on Talbot. I think at best it's a grey area, but I'm more than a little sus he tried to buy a call but instead was rewarded with a goal. Also totally get him not trying to move because he knows the cannon is about to fire.
Your Rage Escalation voice makes it Tops! So ... "if your a defensemen DEFEND IT!!!"
I was very happy, earlier this week I saw a potential if your a goal tender tend the goal moment and predicted it. All thanks to Steve
I saw the mikko goal, and knew immediately it was going to be a dang it lol
Hmm, maybe for a new catchphrase (since it's usually the D doing own goals): "If you're a DEFENDER, don't be an OFFENDER!" Or something along those lines. :)
5:21 the dive block, plus the goalie sprawling save attempt… this is literally me playing chel
I was at the Stars/Hawks game. Everyone knew it didn't count but we acted like we won the cup; I had the dudes next to me tumbling over on me which was awesome 😂 Then at 10:50 you can see how immediately they went from celebration to the losing music 💀
Baseball's official rulebook literally has a section directly stating that it is better to spend ten minutes getting a tough call right than to make a quick decision. Integrity of the game is paramount. The same principle applies in hockey, which is why there shouldn't be a cap on review lengths, and why I think more things should be reviewable, like penalties. Tripping vs. stepping on the puck, puck over the glass vs. a deflection, high sticks vs. friendly fire when there's no blood...
Also: on that Calgary pk collision: the song that plays after the bruins goal was the Come Together cover from justice league.
“Too bad, call on the ice” I love it, that’s how it ought to be
If it's on your own shirt, that goals gonna hurt lol XD
Please make these a couple of hours earlier so Thursday would be the best day of the week in Europe too! It just doesn't feel the same on Friday morning!
While watching the highlights of the Leafs-Oilers game here on the Sportsnet KZhead channel, I saw the Leafs first goal and knew it was going to be on Dang-its. If you're a defender, play until a whistle is actually blown.
L1+R1 is the only move i remember from playing nhl 15 😂 spent all of my time on that game trying to slide under dudes then flipping them if your guy stood up while still under them
Scoring on your own goal, a Scooby-Doo
I absolutely DO remember - never stop making golden era Simpsons references
Love the Kings silver tinfoil hats and Vegas's golden tinfoil hats. They are definitely ready for an Alien invasion.🤣😂👽
As a VGK fan, I immediately knew this was a dangit, and I've been waiting for Hill to do this all season. His decision-making while playing the puck is terrible.
the fact the Rangers nearly messed up that Copley misplay really shows how sad they are, nearly failed to score on what was basically a turtle flipped on its back.
No mention of the penguins-lightning game in either video this week?!?!? Heartbroken. 5 goals in 4:27 has to be at least something right?
Thought for sure that was a dang it.
Might be a hat pick
Agree
Good slogan for the shirt would be "Nice Goal! Now actually score that against the other team!"
The one that MLB does that saves time is “review room has 2 minutes to find evidence of overturn otherwise call on the field stands” and it’s pretty good that way.
Knocking Jarvis into Talbot was really stupid. But, like, Jarvis makes absolutely zero attempt to go anywhere afterwards. Still a good goal lmao
Burns has won fastest shot before. He knew it was coming. Duck and cover was the best option vs no teeth lol.
I was at that game for Canes V. Sens and was so massively confused until I saw the replay and went oh this is so going on dang its.
“If the goalie you’re shooting at has the same jersey, TURN AROUND!”
I appreciate Steve not being as close to the camera this year as he was last year
Wes McCauley for hit of the year!
If the goalie's wearing your jersey, THAT'S YOUR GOAL.
"If you're on Defense... Avoid pissing off your goaltender tending the goal by scoring on him!"
“I got my stick up high and I score without trying” is my idea for the new slogan
I think that offsides should be reviewed at one frame per second, you look at it once or twice and if you cant tell, call on the ice stands.
1:09 Pretty sure Markstrom had a faster one either this season or during the Battle of Alberta last year
Regarding self-goals, I humbly submit "The puck goes the OTHER WAY!"
"If you want to win. Score on the right net"
“Help your goalie, he’s your friend”
McCauley’s hit in Marchand was DEFINITELY a Hatpick. Heck, ANY hit in Marchand is a Hatpick!!
Im confused. Is the rule like the NBA where as long as the puck is off the players stick and then goes in (ie the player shoots it before the buzzer) its a goal or the puck has to be over the line before the buzzer? We so rarely see these I don't understand.
Puck has to be over the line before the buzzer. Also called "buzzer beaters" sometimes.
@@mistyfarber8857 Okay Thx for the clarification. I just know in Basketball it counts as long as the ball has fully left the player's hand and the player is in bounds (look at Kawhi Leonard's buzz beater in the Raptors-Sixers series for example)
@@davidfitzpatrick6535 Yes, I used to play basketball, I understand where you're coming from. There are those who would like to see that rule changed to align with the basketball rule, but I just don't see that happening because there are too many variables in hockey (ie. If it banks off of another player, the goalie, the posts, etc., at what point does it count for the time to be expired?).
@@mistyfarber8857 Fair enough. It actually makes sense the way it is. Esp since its rare to get "a clean look" in the NHL.
I love Wes even more now
What if its (the slogan for player-own-goals) {whatever you call this player} Fowards: You know what defense means? Defensemen: Points are at the other side of the net.
I love thursday thanks steve
"Hey , you wanna score? OTHER WAY!!!!!!"
We should have a stat episode at the end of the year. I'm curious what team benefited the most from dangit plays
“Maybe it would be ideal to know which team you play for” new phrase for shooting into your own net
Giving my boy mikko some justice tonight. Love to see it
I mean, the Rantanen goal wasn't exactly a gimme. He knocked the puck that was flying waist high down so perfectly, he could immediately score with it. Not something you are really playing around... 2:30 yes, I do.
Since they guys seem to be having trouble knowing, or remembering, which team they are in, the aplicable slogan might be: "If you're unsure, check your shirt!" I don't think "jersey" sounds as snappy 🤔 Great fan, keep it up, Steve! 🤘🏻 - Olli Helsinki 🇫🇮
For own goals, beer league tendies should make the phrase. Something along the lines of, "Thanks for defending, but you're not helping"
3:37 I would go with "Keep the puck out of your own net please!"
“If your a goalie, have a plan, and Rollie Pollie” - Goob Silby
The guy getting pushed into the goal should have the bowling pin sound effect.
my girlfriend rarely watches hockey but I've watched so many Steve's dang-it around her that when the Adin Hill play happened she yelled the line and I was so proud
This is Season 5 of Steve's Dang-its. There are so many of those moments from earlier episodes that you could do a binge of the series.
“If you’re in your zone, don’t put it home!” “If you’re a defender, don’t beat your goaltender!” Do people ever refer to scoring a goal as “sending it home” or anything like that? For some reason it feels both right and wrong. I think Happy Gilmore is messing with my head on this one.
New slogan for own goals should be “wrong net buddy”
Other than having nothing in common with Kane's no-goal... yes, Seguin's no-goal is very similar.
I played hockey in Boston 60's,70's, we'd go and stay with Canadian families and have tournaments, best time of my life, thank you to those wonderful families who treated us so well. My pet peeve is goalies who handle the puck behind the net, I know you don't get to handle the puck much on a game and a lot of the time your just standing there watching the action in the other end, please stay in your net, when you handle the puck your own D can get confused, two seconds later it's in the net, stay home. Please.
...unless you're Carey Price...he's just like a 3rd defenceman......but then again, he would practice with a players stick and gloves so that would explain it...
You missed Nate Schmidt scoring on his own net last week!
I love that he’s wearing the old paint cans jerseys from coach Jeremy’s hockey team
What is this sweater? I've been trying to figure it out for two days
@@bendouglass5916 it’s an old paint can with a hockey stick it was a a beer league jersey
New slogan/saying: IF YOU'RE A DEFENSEMAN, DEFEND THE NET!
Potential new slogan: “only one team can score in your end. I’ll give you a hint: IT’S NOT YOU.”
I have a simple solution for the reviews. They were never intended to catch 2 inch offsides. They were meant to stop egregious ones so the refs get to watch it once in regular motion and once at half speed and if it's not really obvious, then they call on the ice stands. Period.
“If you’re a scorer, score for your team” could work
I got one for you Steve - “If you’re a defender, DONT HIT IT INTO YOUR OWN NET!”
Clearly a Hat Pick - got me rolling.
IF ITS YOUR OWN GOAL, DON’T SCORE!!!!!! your new quote!
