Experience the startling consequences when a tourist's encounter with the King's Horse takes a painful turn. Despite the prominent sign advising caution and refraining from touching the reins, the tourist's oversight leads to a distressing bite and a resounding suffering of pain. This gripping incident serves as a powerful reminder to always heed prominent warnings for the safety and well-being of both visitors and the majestic animals in their presence.

  • I was a mounted patrol officer in a resort city. It seems that whenever people see a horse, they feel entitled to approach and touch the horse, as if it is a friendly pet. We would politely ask that they pet them on the neck or shoulder, not the head or face. Most people would oblige, but some people would claim to be “horse owners/lovers/etc.” and ignore our request. Sometimes they got bitten, and in more egregious cases, arrested. I really don’t know how those mounted guards put up with the constant harassment from tourists.

    • Hi kennetheavey8921 good morning, thank you for sharing your experience as a mounted patrol officer. It's unfortunate that some people may not understand the boundaries when approaching and interacting with horses. As you mentioned, it's important for the safety of both the horse and the individual to approach them in a respectful manner. Mounted guards, like the King's Guards, go through extensive training to handle such situations and maintain their composure in the face of constant attention and sometimes even harassment from tourists. They are trained to handle and manage the crowds while ensuring the safety of all involved. It's a challenging task, but their dedication and professionalism shine through as they carry out their duties. Thanks for watching my video, I hope you have an excellent Thursday! 😃

  • When are people ever going to realize that when a horse pins their ears back and makes biting gestures toward them when they get too close, that is not a friendly, inviting gesture on their part? That means they do not want you around their head or touching them at all. They are trying to tell you in their own way to stay away from them. The public would be well advised to take that warning seriously because the horse can do serious harm if their signs are not heard and understood. And for God’s sake, do not bring children around those horses. You will only put them in harm’s way. I have seen horses decide to charge at people even with a rider on their back when provoked enough. The rider cannot react adequately to stop it if that is what they decide to do.

  • Love how the horse turns his head as if to say ‘I did that - the sign says I may bite, so I did.” The guard also seemed totally unimpressed by her histrionics. She invaded the horse’s space, ignored the warning signs (from the horse as well as the notice on the wall) so the horse took assertive action. If her play acting thought it would earn her a bit of compensation for her her terrible trauma she’s in for a disappointment. Those signs aren’t just warnings - they’re disclaimers. If they chose to ignore them it’s their look out. Besides, bringing a law suit against a horse wouldn’t have much chance of success. It’s a hard, and painful, lesson to learn - but one she won’t forget in a hurry. Horse 1 - Tourist 0 - and I’m 100% team horse. By the way - loved the little one blowing a kiss to the horse. But where were her parents? Toddlers can be as unpredictable as horses.

    • @@battles146 Arnie’s a star for that. He’s so patient will the little ones - but makes sure to have a nip at their parents for being so dumb. Some have no concept of the damage a horse can do if it means business. If you take the average weight of a 17hh Irish draught horse of around 800/850 kg, add the weight of the rider plus around 25-30kg for the tack, saddle and the guard’s uniform and not forgetting those iron shod hooves - v - a squishy toddler it’s not rocket science as to which would come off worse.

    • In some way they are being taught to do that. Whenever a tourist comes too close or grabs the reins, the guard shouts and even kicks the horse forward (rightly so!). I can only imagine how annoying/startling it must be for the horse, so a smart horse will do the chasing away itself instead. That way he can control the events. 😊 This is a clever horse!

These are not only amazing beautiful animals, but highly tuned & trained creatures that need to be treated with respect! Horses & dogs have similar language & so do we!

    @cristineconnell7803@cristineconnell78036 ай бұрын
  • This horse clearly sets the boundaries, the problem is that people do not take the time to think of anyone or anything except themselves. That is why they don't notice the sign nor the signs the horse is putting out. All they have to do is watch his behavior, who he bites and who he doesn't. It is all in the approach, the horse knows he is something special, he knows he is on duty and people give him no respect. People get into the horse's face, step into his space without acknowledging the horse at all, you just can't / don't do that with horses! Horses are often touchy about their space, watch their ears, when those ears go back as though they are pinned, get the hell-0 out of the way because what comes next is not pleasant! People are lucky the horses don't kick much, because if you have ever been kicked by a large hooved animal, it HURTS like HELL! I've been kicked (I thought I was out of range, but nope) before and it was not fun. Did you know camels can kick in all directions? I sure found out! LOL Don't treat an animal you don't know like other animals you DO know. Camels are not horses or cows and kick way better and harder than horses or cows, they have a much wider range of where they can kick, in all directions, they are not limited. OUCH, right in the shoulder, and I though that was high, but I am glad it was not a few inches higher!
