    • The footwork is impeccable. Literally like a ballerina. Plants on his left foot. Transfers his momentum into a jumping pirouhette, allowing his initial momentum to continue so that he keeps moving laterally while in the air. Lands back on the same foot, spinning perfectly balanced with the foot landing underneath him in the exact same relative position. As he lands on it, he again plants on it and turns that landing into a driving kick like a sprinter taking off from the blocks. It's high level footwork. Obviously he has incredible footwork. That's a given. But it's no exageration to say that he moves like a professional dancer. There's a lot of such footwork in sports. Hockey players, basketball players like Kyrie Irving, soccer/non-American football (I'm assuming), combat sports. It's uniquely impressive to me the context under which he's doing it. The extreme momentum shifts and lateral movement. The pivots and changing his shape to evade and break tackles. And all under constant pressure. There's no other sport besides Rugby where you're running flat out and all anybody else wants to do is to tackle you. It creates this unique time pressure where every second that passes they get closer, and every inch they get closer, the sooner you are about to get tackled. It's a unique sort of beauty to me. Not more impressive than other sports, but uniquely pretty what he can do. In basketball, for example, the opponents can't just grab you and pull you down. There isn't that same time pressure. In hockey, you can likewise shield the puck as you can a basketball. The opponents cannot take a running start at you or touch you from behind or from the side. They likewise cannot actually grab you at all. So there's this unique thing where your whole body is the target--every part. If the defender can grab your ankle or your arm or your hair and bring you down that way, then they're entitled to do so. So there's this dance going on where every movement of your body has to be choreographed in tandem with the opposition. In combat sports, you're not trying to go anywhere. You're only moving in relation to your opponent, with the context of the boundaries as well. So there's not this time and distance pressure where you're trying to go somewhere and all they need to do is stop you from getting there. I think the closest thing is probably fencing--specifically, HEMA where they are fencing in an open area rather than a piste (narrow walkway). Anyway. It's a uniquely beautiful thing. I don't think there's anything quite like it in any other sport.

    • Underdogs? Are you sure? The Ravens have been playoff caliber since almost the beginning. How long were y'all in existence before y'all got a Bowl? Try being an Eagles fan, 1963 to 2017 was a long wait. Were like the Ravens, were always in it no matter the team or year, but I'd say the only time that either team gets the dog is when we're up against teams that are "them dudes" that year. But underdogs seems a bit much. The Browns, Jaguars, Lions....those are the dogs. I've got a good bit of friends from Maryland so the Ravens are a team I always pull for, never thought of them as underdogs since y'all got 'chips so quick & stayed playoff caliber with that defense. Plus Ray Lewis is one of the greatest players I've ever got to see play in my life time, just a beast of a man on the field. But Go Birds!! The Black Birds & My Birds. And you can't beat those uniforms. Both teams are some of the best in the league. Encapsulates all my favorite colors too in those teams. Green, Black, Purple, Gold in that order

They wanted to get ahead of Lamar’s possible failure instead of getting in on the hype and appreciating his generational athleticism and two way skills.
