It's finally done after 2+ months of work! Once I finished the music synchronized path, I opened up the world for my subscribers to decorate the world on a Minecraft server. I can't believe how creative people were with their builds. It reminds me of r/place, but the Minecraft version.
I wanted to make it easy to access the world for as many people as possible, so I thought the server needed to be vanilla. BUT, I also really wanted to use the create mod because the new update with trains just came out and they are super cool. My solution was to create the synchronized path in a modded world, convert that world to vanilla, publish it to the server, let people build, then merge that vanilla world back into my modded world. I even wrote a script to create a "tunnel" of regions around the path of my player to prevent people from building in areas that would break my sync path redstone. This plan will never come back to haunt me, right??
Sounds simple, but the merge proved to be super difficult for me. I spent days writing a python script to reverse engineer the server changes from the coreprotect plugin database. The script would update every block position to the latest change via mcrcon and setblock. It was all working perfectly, but then we realized that some changes done by worldedit were not being properly stored by coreprotect after we closed the server.
Now we needed to find a new vanilla and modded world merge technique. I scoured the internet to see if there was a way to delete only vanilla blocks or only modded blocks from a world, so I could mask out just those blocks and copy and paste the boolean difference with worldedit (thanks Red and Void for helping me brainstorm solutions for this!). Finally, the solution that worked was for me to create another script that automatically deleted everything inside the vanilla server world "No Build" regions tunnel that I mentioned previously. Effectively, this left me with the entire vanilla server world, minus the husk of regions from my sync path. I copied the entire server with worldedit and saved it as a schematic (I think it was over a billion blocks). Then I loaded up the modded world, and pasted it with the ignore air argument. My computer locked up for like 10 minutes but it eventually succeeded! We now had the modded world + the decorations from people on a vanilla server as you see in this video.
There were many other challenges as well. I may have bitten off a bit more than I could chew with 4k, 60fps, shaders, mods, and massive server builds. My poor PC had a tough time giving smooth performance, and I had to reduce some of my music sync elements due to lag spikes. You'll see there are still some lag spikes in this video. Removing some of the redstone elements users built on the server was necessary to try and combat this. Sorry if I had to remove/disable your redstone build! I tried to smooth them out a bit in editing, but it's the best I could do. Live and learn!
Thank you everyone who participated! Keep a look out for your name at the end credits. Also, if you want to explore the world yourself, download link is below. Most people left signs on their builds so you'll be able to see who built what. :)

  • Those random mass creative server builds always bring a tear to my eye. Sure, you can organize 15 people to make a team to build something thematic and truly stunning, or spend over 100 hours on making a really good beatcraft video. But it never beats seeing the individual ideas of people that happened to be stuck together for a few hours, it's pure beauty. This was an awesome combo.

  • Ever since the first Beat Craft, these have been my favorite videos on the internet. Getting to be a part of this one meant a lot. They totally didn't have to but a big part of what we do in the Minecraft community, and especially Doodle's community, is just that - create community around creation and fun! Thanks to the team that made this possible. If you're interested, my build was just through the opening at the end of the first cave section. I didn't know what to build so I built my avatar/skin but with butterfly wings and Earth-based powers. She harnesses the power of existing nature to create more beautiful greenery, making the world sparkle and blossom just like her and her wings 🌱✨️🌲🦋 🍃

  • It was so much fun building random things and playing with the others on the server! I was ToasterCatPanko, and I’m proud to say I was one of the people who built Handsome Shrek! My main build was the stickfigures from Alan Becker’s animation series. I did Yellow and Green originally, and quite early on in the server too. Unfortunately I was only able to be on the server a few days, it’s amazing to see what other people have added on to other builds and made themselves since then! People did the rest of the stickfigure squad, and the cursor, AND combined it with a flag that was nearby! (I also did the QR code next to the pixel art Rick Astley, with help from someone else. It’s definitely not a rickroll >:)

  • WOOOOOO it's here! I had a great time building on the server. Everyone was so friendly! Here are my builds: 1:13 I added a "SUBCRIBE" sign to the "LIKE?" sign someone else had already built. 1:30 The Vault 76 in the bottom right, next to the Technoblade pixel art. I'm not even a fan of Fallout I just wanted to build it lol 1:44 The Space Shuttle. This one I'm most proud of, I built it by staring at photos and sketches of the IRL Shuttle and by eyeballing proportions. Thank you to the mystery person that added the flames! 2:55 Lumity Grom Dance from The Owl House (TOH)! (The giant pixel art in the back) I finished that one less than an hour before the server was going to close. I saw the Pride Flags and went, "hmmmm" and here we are. I also made some tiny contributions to other builds such as a green note particle above the noteblock the giant Doodle statue is holding. There's also a Sans Undertale face somewhere but i don't even remember where I built that lol Thanks to Doodle, RedDiamond, and Void for hosting and managing the server!

  • You were one of the first videos that really got me into watching minecraft content, alongside technoblade, and so its lovely to see both content and some remembrances in the build, despite the vast difference between you both as creators. Thanks, to you and your server, for a good time and the shrines.

  • ok the drop at the being is just so cool and gets me every time also love the music pick this time tbh though i really find the videos where you have to brake things on time and everything is triggered as you go instead of set up before head 100 X cooler to watch and rewatch its one of the most satisfying and engaging kind of video I've seen beat craft 2. 3. and 4 are sooo rewatchable but i get that there much harder to make
