  • Roberto Baggio è il Maradona italiano . Grandissimo calciatore ed ha giocato per tutta la sua carriera con una gamba sola o forse una e mezza...

  • At Vicenza in his youth he really was lightning quick and so nimble and explosive, and still with Fiorentina and his first season at Juve he was very quick and agile, although not quite as much after the two bad injuries, and maybe not to the extent of someone like Messi today (especially in terms of sprinting). Then injuries slowed him down a bit more at Juve during his prime unfortunately, but he was still quick aside from the 1994 World Cup where he looked slower due to fitness issues (although he was still amazing), and then during his spell with Milan he looked more sluggish due to injuries. Then he looked more dynamic again during his time with Brescia and his first season with Inter. But even as he aged and got gradually slower and struggled physically because of lack of playing time and then injuries in his second season with Inter and his years at Brescia, he never lost that turn of pace. Plus his control, technique, dribbling, awareness, vision, anticipation, and movement were all still amazing, which helped him a lot, as shown by his ability to beat the defensive line! Plus he had the ability to dribble consistently at full speed almost and keep great control of the ball, always keeping it close to his feet, which made him very dangerous, even though once in a while he would utilise his acceleration on top of his skills to burst past players at times (like with his famous goal against Napoli with Fiorentina), but usually it was his control, technique, and feints when dribbling that made him stand out unlike other diminutive players with a low centre of gravity who were quick and liked to dribble, and that ability made him look even faster than he was in my opinion. I think that goal against Czechoslovakia really shows that, even though he was still quick there, but he was so elegant and well-balanced on the ball above all; he just glides across the pitch and through the defence!

    • As usual, your analyzes are always wonderful. I remember a quote from Baggio saying that had it not been for that injury in Vicenza, his style of play would have been completely different from what we would have seen. Imagine what we would have seen 😮. It is really interesting to imagine this idea, even though the injuries slowed him down, but it is his unique talent was always there to compensate for this lack of his physical ability, as you said, he may not have Messi's physical ability, but personally I have never seen a talent like Baggio’s. Sometimes it feels like he controls the ball with his eyes. Incredible.

    • @@alqasem5691 It's true...in terms of technique in the execution of his ball control, dribbling, and shots, he was pretty much the closest thing to perfection I've seen! I do think that the fact that he slowed down did highlight how good a dribbler he is, and that he looked faster than he was most of the time, and didn't need speed to be dangerous and didn't rely on it, which is why he could still take it past anyone even at 37, which is pretty rare! Thanks for another great video!

    • @@tapeplixio2419 Yes, but on top of that unfortunately there were so many other problems at Inter as well during that period...they had so many world class players...I know that Serie A was competitive, but even so, they really under-performed considering the quality and depth of their squad .

  • 6:34 minutes of pure brilliance class ,elegance ,style and Grace .. Absolute majestic player .. Roberto baggio for me is the player who is closest comparison to MESSI.. BAGGIO was just a beast in dribbling, And before injury his pace too was an absolute threat for opposition.. Back those days in ITALY.. no Baggio ...no football... Hats off legend

  • Baggio’s dribbling and running style reminds of Neymar, but of course without the free style tricks. I think Baggio’s touch in his final seasons has become more elegant, you can see the likes of back heels and roulette, although he had passed his prime.

    • Defenders are smarter nowadays ie they do not commit to sliding as easily and you can hardly lure them to one direction to change to another anymore. So while Baggio was extremely gifted, it is unfair to make comparisons across different eras.

      @bradyklein1892@bradyklein18928 күн бұрын
    • @bradyklein1892 maybe you are right to a degree but for me Defense in the 80s and 90s Calcio with minimum referee protection is always harder than every other era in my opinion. I’m from that era, You could lose a leg forever. Ask Marco van basten. I remember pep guardiola couple years ago stated that Baggio could score 50 goals in his Manchester city team. Pep played in the 90s.

      @alqasem5691@alqasem56917 күн бұрын
    • @@alqasem5691 Yup they were brutal and very aggressive hard tacklings in the past but that does not equate to intelligent defending. In the 90s, when Ryan Giggs shifted the ball to one side, the defender would follow him all the way to that side in the most naive manner only for Giggs to accelerate in the opposite direction and far away. In today's modern football defence, when you sprint in one direction, the defender will shadow you from the side while his mates from nearby defence zones will close down your remaining options to switch directions, so you have no choice but to keep running straight until you run out of room and they do not even have to tackle you for that.
