  • This has got to beone of your m ore important videos you've made yet. Winsor McCay is highly underrated, and should be number 1 in animators/innovators/artists. Screwed over by Edison, because why not! Wiki him, you'll see how he was SEMINAL in the field of cartoons and animation.

  • Awesome research! Its crazy how most of the ideas and setting wouldn't be out of place today.

  • Really digging Starewicz’s work. yes, a bit morbid, but honestly if you can ignore the heebyjeeby factor they are wonderful “mini”films. So fun and unique. Love your coverage of animation and all your other videos btw. Im astounded that theres only 1k views on this! youre effort and interest really shows and i wish you had more recognition.

  • Ey, great job! If you do decide to cover more early animation from 1916 onwards, I highly suggest looking into the connection between Winsor McCay, William Randolph Hearst’s studio IFS, and George Herriman’s Krazy Kat. The short version is that Hearst had both comic strip artists in his employ and decided to invest in studio animation because of McCay’s personal endeavors. Adapting Herriman’s Krazy Kat was among IFS’ first projects, presumably because the designs were recognizable and fairly simple. If you do cover Krazy Kat, I beg of you to do some research on the source material and its creator, because Krazy Kat was its own cultural phenomenon. Most adaptations (and thus film historians) don’t do it justice at all.

  • Your channel is a goldmine, love these video essays on obscure animation topics. Just a quick thing, but from what I understand, The Artist's Dream wasn't actually made with cels? idk, there's a bit of a debate going on in the animation community over that.

    • Poor research. Blocks users who politely provide factual counternarratives to his misinformation.
