  • I enjoy watching hockey, but never understood the hits. This was a good base understanding of hits. Do you have any videos regarding what would be a clean vs dirty hit that results in boarding? I tried watching videos from the NHL and other explanations from fans but i am still so damn confused. some of the clean hits shown looked like they were hitting the head or didn't show in a way you presented, albeit, I know hockey is a fast paced game but I don't understand the boarding. A good example was the Rangers vs Islanders stadium series a few days ago where a player was checked/hit and a lot of fans were calling for boarding but a fan behind me said it was clean because he didn't hit the boards first, he hit ice first. I'm all kinds of confused on it. Any videos to explain the difference amongst the two?

I don’t Agree teaching this at bantam the size difference in kids starting to mature and those that haven’t yet can be 90 pounds and a foot difference in height . I coached mites through juniors and I want to scream because at the bantam level they should already know how to give and receive a proper check

    • @@ursamajor6347 an average NHL player (200lb) skates 3 times faster than the fastest NFL runner. Momentum = mass x velocity. The football player would have to weigh almost 550-600lb for it to be mathematically comparable

    • @@ursamajor6347 Hockey hits are harder, football hits are more consistent. Theres big boys on the rink + football players are ready to get hit. Sometimes a hockey player catches a hit by surprise.

      @DiamondScuff@DiamondScuff2 жыл бұрын
    • @@ursamajor6347 Your logic would make sense if hockey players were sitting still. Compare this to a car crash if someone is driving 40kmph and hits a pole thats stand still the impact would be 40kmph. Now if someone is driving 40kmph and runs into another car driving 40kmph the impact would be 80kmph. Im not saying by anymeans football players are pu33ies or anything cause there not. Football players get more concussions because every play they are tackling. A hockey player might take 1-2 hits a game or 1-2 big hits a season. Its not nearly as many hits. But the hits are a lot faster and the impact is a lot more. Padding doesnt help internally when the force are huge. Think about this. Hockey players are legally allowed to fist fight were if you were outside the rink you would be getting an assault charge lol. Hockeys tough.

      @DiamondScuff@DiamondScuff2 жыл бұрын
    • @@ursamajor6347 There was literally a "research" with easports claiming hockey hit were 17% harder lol. Try again. Dont forget the full blown fist fights. You cant knock down a spot were people literally fight like there boxing lmao.

      @rickpurich8264@rickpurich82642 жыл бұрын
    • USA Hockey's rule to lead with the stick and play the puck before a hit is an attempt to take 'lighting up' or punishing a player out of the game. Hits must now serve a purpose which is to regain puck possession.

      @harmagician1@harmagician12 жыл бұрын
    • @@harmagician1 the new rules prevent finishing checks promote playing the puck instead of the body. Two concepts that are the opposite of how defending was always taught. Not sure how players growing up playing this style will do against competition that don't follow these new rules. Such as international play and also currently high schools don't follow this.

      @jasonfournier@jasonfournier2 жыл бұрын
    • 95% of the time, these checks aren't even getting called under the new rules. Couple reasons, refs know this game is fast, and USA Hockey is asking too much from players to let up after they've already committed to the hit. Secondly, I've noticed a big change in physicality from players themselves, they're worried about being called for it, so all they do is just bump into them, no extra push or force. It is certainly underpreparing our kids for the future and it's bullshit.

      @tylertravaglio8877@tylertravaglio88772 жыл бұрын
