  • Someone give Dana a new show!! How it didn’t work with all those hilarious people is beyond me?! The world needs more Dana Carvey right now!

    • This is why everyone on these sort of shows complain about the network, it isn't because of the censors like people may think, even Chapelle has said they're not the issue. His show died the same death as firefly and Star Trek, the death of Lost and so many others: the wrong time-slot. Network broadcast TV becomes more of a distant memory every day, but this was perhaps it at hits highest, and if you weren't uber-profitable, you're out. The most surprising part to me isn't that it got cut, but that not even Dana Carvey could do something, anything, to prevent it, I always considered him up there like Seinfeld, but I suppose otherwise, it was a time.

Unless he escapes the institution again like he did last time and we had to fish him out of the moat. Nice comment Pamela I think Dana and Steve are great too.

  • What a treat for fans of The Dana Carvey Show! Thanks, Late Show, for not pandering to the low-attention-span crowd like most talk shows do on KZhead with their tiny interview snippets, and instead going the other direction and giving us the unexpurgated footage! • + KoRnKnoTTeR This was one of the best from these two. Dana is one of the funniest people on the Earth. He's also a buzzard eating chicken farmer who eats worms for breakfast. I had to say this because, not only is it true but its because he was born exactly 5 months, 3 days 11 hours and 55 seconds before me, the rotten egg omelette. Besides which I can do more impressions then him and I'd love to be on (Late Night) with Stephen Colbert who is so darn funny I lose it every time I get to hear him. These two need to be in a hospital and used as a medicine. If the old saying is true, and it is, that laughter is the best medicine then these two are Doctors. There are a few other reasons they should be in a hospital, not necessarily a regular hospital, if you get what I mean, but that's for another comment. All in all I love these two geniuses and the work they do. "Bolton Bolton, Bolton, keep those doggies movin rawhide" beautiful! and I still have a smile on my face with that one.

    • You are so right. He has the genius talent, and would again need an ensemble format with multiple sketches because his talent is so “beyond” he would out shine any single guest in a “talk show” format.

    • I agree with both of you! His humor is perfect in today's political/social climate. And if somehow he could get Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert to have some part of it, it would be even better! It would be better than SNL, and I know a lot of networks would want to pick that show up!

    • Carvey was NBC's original choice as a replacement for David Letterman when Letterman left Late Night for CBS. I love Conan but how awesome would it have been if Carvey had accepted the job?

      @msminmichigan@msminmichigan4 жыл бұрын
    • msminmichigan Wow, really? I’m kinda glad he didn’t do it, I think. Look at how limited, tied down and drained the Late Show seems to inflict on Colbert? Not that Carver wouldn’t be good, but the “Late Show” template only gives someone so much room to move... I don’t think it’s the best place for *truly* genius comedians (of which there are few).

I grew up on him when he was on the Daily Show (I still vividly remember the banana blooper), and then of course when he landed his own show with the Colbert Report. I’ve always loved him and always rooted for him even when our politics differed. My love will never waver, and I am SOOOOOOOOO SO SO SO HAPPY for his success!!!!!! Stephen you did it. You made it to the VERY TIPPY TOP!!!!! You literally achieved the biggest dream of anyone in the tv business. I’m You really really DID IT!!!!!!!!
