I'm passionate about a number of things and have a lot of hobbies I love, but I'm not sure I could ever be as excited about something as Doug is about this car! I also really appreciate how he doesn't let his own bias get too in the way of his Doug Scores! I've always noticed how objective he tries to be when rating cars (no matter how much he personally likes them) and pointing out various cons about his own car that he loves oh so much really told me how dedicated he is to trying to rate vehicles fairly.

However, if you are just spending that on things that you truly enjoy (like Doug purchasing this car) or driving a positive change on society, this rule generally doesn't really apply. But I know what you are trying to get at. This saying doesn't apply all the time.

  • Hey Doug, it´s so much fun to see you so excited on your new cool car. I always like you and your videos, but this time it feels as twice as good as the other times, even that I don´t like station wagons too much. But I´m a big car enthusiast too and especially my drugs are youngtimer how we call those cars from 80s - 2000s in Germany. I have some sporty Audis and other cars from 90s too and when I see you I know I am not the only crazy one. Thank you so much and big, big greetings from Germany! You are the best and I can understand you better than any one other!! I am used to search for years to find clean cars from those models I like in a perfect condition and with a fitting list of extras. So it´s every time like a birth when I drive home with a new old car...;-)

  • Congratulations Doug! What an amazing feeling, finally getting your dream car! I know so well how you feel. Not an import, or as rare, but I felt the same way when I bought my 2008 VW R32 back in 2016. I test drove one back in 2009 and fell in love instantly, but couldn't afford one at the time. When I was finally financially stable and living alone, I decided it was time, and found a well taken care of example maybe an hour or two from me. After competitive bidding, the owner decided to go with me because I drafted a bill of sale and had the cashier's check ready. I think it was also fate that we happened to both have a camping trip scheduled to the *same campground* that weekend. I walked over to his campsite, took a look, test drove it, then shortly after it was mine. It came with so many extras too! It was clearly a well-loved car and I think the owner was excited to sell to someone who would continue loving it. Still puts a smile on my face to this day, and I can't help but look back at it every time I walk away from parking it. I also can't tell you how many countless times I've been stopped in a parking lot to trade VW/Audi/Porsche stories, or get a friendly gesture on road trips. I'm sure you'll really love owning the RS2, I'm a wee bit envious!

  • Doug, I've been watching your videos for about 6 months now and I just want to say I love how excited you get about this stuff, I see a lot of myself in that! I was born and raised in Brasil and my family immigrated to Canada in 1998. We didn't have much money growing up, but I always loved cars, all sorts of different cars, especially the weird ones. In 2007 my parents bought me a PS2 and it came with Gran Turismo 4, and I sank days and days into playing that game, and my love for cars grew to epic proportions. I knew I wanted to drive some of these cars one day, but I also knew money would be an issue. And so I began my academic journey. I busted my hump through high school and university, and although I was never the smartest, I worked very hard. I took the LSAT not once, but twice, and eventually landed a position at a great law school in Canada. Upon graduation, I got a great job at a law firm in Calgary, and for the first time in my life, I was making real money. And then I started feeling nostalgic over those long days and nights in my parents' tiny townhouse, playing Gran Turismo, and I thought to myself, I think I should finally get myself something that I'll love to drive. And so as of last months, I am officially the proud owner of a 2018 Audi S3. It is the nicest car I've ever owned (or anyone in my family has ever owned), and I felt the same excitement that you express when you review these cars - this was the moment where I finally understood. So in so many words, THANK YOU DOUG. Your videos are awesome, your genuine excitement is awesome, and just keep doing what you're doing!

  • Great automobile, Doug! Enjoy it!) You forgot to mention about fast station wagons that were built long ago before this one, I know there were not production cars, but considering how cool they were, it's worth mentioning. 1987 W124 AMG Hammer Wagon, with 6.0L V8 and 375hp. And also 1979 Mercedes-Benz 500 TE AMG with 5.0L V8 (Though the manufacturing history of the last one is not clear, if it was modified by AMG, or just some car enthusiast).

  • I owned some fun cars in my life like the iconic e46 m3 , e39 m5 , currently the 1m , but there is something special about the older Audis. I owned a 94 s4 and loved that thing , how it looked outside and especially inside and how it made me feel. So I can just imagine how much nicer this rs2 must feel like and how much more special since it’s that much more rare and better on every level than the urs4 was. One of the old cars that I would definitely love to own and not surprised Doug snatched one when he had the chance. Good work !

  • There was an S2 avant at the same time which was really the base for this car, it had the same basic running gear, I have owned both models and they are both great the main difference was you have to work the RS due to the added lag on the turbo. They are pretty bullet proof the only real work I had to do on mine was a clutch replacement as the only way to get the quoted 0-60 you have to use the revs and drop the clutch. This is one car I regret selling, much more engaging than my current RS 4 which is full of pointless computer invasive crap some of which you can't turn off.
