I feel like my dad just taught me how to use a charcoal starter and I’m honestly so grateful
I’m happy if I’ve helped you out Lacey. That’s why I make my videos and I appreciate you watching! Happy grilling!!!
Dads are losers. Female power.
@Suicide Booth it is
100th like from me :)
Thank you. I’m 59 years old and have been barbecuing for 40 years and never tried this. Took my young nephew to tell me about it and my first try at this will be this coming Memorial Day. Thanks again!!! 0:30
My guy!!! Thank you from a lady divorced from a grill master! I was lost! I literally had not used the grill in the 20 years we were married! LOL! Thanks for helping me get this thing started!
A rookie here. She just purchased a new grill and Thanks we just followed your directions it worked exactly! Freaking awesome!
I'm not a amateur at Barbecuing, but just bought charcoal chimney and your video really helped me break away from the old methods. Thanks again and I am looking forward to watching more videos😁
Thanks Troy, you just taught this millennial how to use a fire starter.
🤦♂️
Some of us dont have a dad. So we became dad
Same
Nobody cares fucking millenials you aint special bitch
@@maliquewilliams86 yeah I’m having a hard tine understanding this stupid comment. I’m a MiLlEnIaL but I’m 34, first. And without some stupid label of my generation, I just assumed society’s standards you should be able to use a grill at around 20. My dad is 66. Used a chimney starter once and returned it. He’s old school. Pyramid of coals, lighter fluid, let it soak. 45 mins later we’re eating. Never tasted fluid but I do use a chimney starter to stay incog at my apartment to hide the flames
That’s a hard thumbs up from one city slicker who is standing in front of a grill for the first time in 3 years - thanks brother!
6 years later and this video is a big help! thank you.
My world changed the day I discovered the chimney starter! Love the videos, thanks for making them!
Seriously. Just bought one and it's a god send
This is exactly why I came here. Im 30 and never started a grill without lighter fluid. Im sick of lighter fluid flavors and smells. Thank you Troy!
Appreciate the patience for absolute newcomers. Mom was always a renter and didn't want to deal with a grill so now I'm learning lol, wish me luck
Great video. Great piece of gear. I cant believe ive gone all these years without the chimney starter.
Same here. Gone all these years using icky fluid. I'm fixing to get me a chimney this week. Its bbq season baby!
Attempting my first smoke today and wasn't sure how to use the charcoal starter, thank you for the help!
Awesome demo, thank you; never done it before. I’ll give it a shot.
My husband just got COVID and was supposed to BBQ tonight, but now can't. I don't want the meat to go to waste so your video saved me. This was soooo helpful. Thank you so much.
Thank you! I got one of these chimney starters and wasn’t sure how to use it and I watched your video and everything turned out absolutely delicious and incredibly good. Thanks again buddy!
Big help! Thank you T-Roy! I never used one before but wanted to try this :) thank you sir!
I love that Lone Star cap. Mo Bandy has a can of Lone Star featured on one of his album covers. That’s as close as us Minnesota boys ever came to Lone Star.
Newly converted gas grill user. Thanks for the great vid.
Thank you...looks so much simpler than what I've been trying with not much success. Last time my son ended up making a torch by lighting up cooking spray from the can...so dangerous! Thank you for sharing a much better(safer) way!!😂
Coming in handy from the UK on the one day of sun we get. Thanks for saving the evening
Thanks man . Rookie here and was using that lighter fluid and after watching this . Never more super easy. Just ordered one one ebay. Thanks
5:14 the action started !! For the anxious like me ...pretty good class thank you!!
*Long winded lol, thanks.* 🙏
I loved the video! It's great when experts, help out amateur's or first timers. Like any new subject the basics are so important.
Thank you so much for teaching us how to use the chimney starter. You're awesome.. I learned something today. You taught it very well. Thanks so much!!!

Great presentation - thanks for showing me how to use the charcoal chimney!
Had to look this up in 2022…. Thanks a lot Uncle Troy! Greetings from Mallorca/Spain!
Loved it! Thanks for making this informative video! Our BBQ was ready to go in 20mins. You earned yourself a new subscriber.
Thanks so much for sharing, I’m a female and wanted to learn how to light a charcoal bbq, I love that charcoal flavour. Thank you so much ♥️
Thanks T-Roy. I'm buying a chimney today for my Easter BBQ with my little family tomorrow. Can't wait to try it. Happy Easter y'all
I bought it. It heat up the briquettes so fast, I'l be having bbqs more often. It's amazing.
Thanks, I needed the full tutorial.
T Roy I will watch a few more these tutorial videos about barbecue, and I might even get my act together. I always wondered how these charcoal chimney starters worked, about 1, and have actually never use it. Next on my list when I barbecue, at least on the how to use it. Thanks for the information.
+The Bald Chef You should try to broaden your horizons Glen. Fire up a charcoal grill and do some outdoor cooking. The flavors are so much better than what you can get from a gas grill. Holler at me if you have any questions or need some tips!!!
Thank you! found this upon searching. just picked up my first grill.
Great video! Everything was very clear; you took the guesswork out of it. Thank You!
Thank you troy this works great. Failed the first time but put paper into tight but put it loosely next got me some hot coals. Love it!
I recently bought a really nice bbq for $50 bucks used and the seller threw in the charcoal chimney, I had no idea what it was, until now, I will use this from here on in, seeing I prefer natural charcoal and wood chips over starter fluid, in which I didn't know I had a choice until now, thanks so much for the great tips!
Hello from Ireland, we are totally new to BBQ and we found this video very useful thank you!
I mean, I appreciated the break down of the chimney and how he gave actual tips on how you can use those design specs for different methods. That was literally the whole point of those few minutes yet it flew over the short attention spanners.
Definitely nice to know since I'm at home with shelter in place. My husband is an essential worker, working 6 to 7 days a week. Nice to know I can grill no matter if he is at home or not.
Awesome video, thanks!!! Just bought a chimney, gonna try it out now!!
This was great T-Roy. Thanks for helping me get started with my charcoal chimney!
I'm happy to help a brother out! Thanks for watching!
Great tips, you have already solved my problems with my BBQ. Thanks again. In your honer, I'm making BBQ for my family this weekend.
Hey Troy. That should help a bunch of the new BBQers out there. Thanks for giving them a start in the right direction.
+Rashley's BorderQue Hey Randy, just thought I'd pass on a little info I've learned. We were all rookies at one time. Thanks for watching!
Tremendously helpful! Thanks for sharing, I'll share with my fiancé. God bless🙏🏽😊
Just got my first smoker this morning. Great video. Going to scoop up a chimney starter.
With my chimney and my li'l Smokey Joe grill, I have had some awsome camping meals with my family. Thanks T-Roy, for your valuable tips.Freedom from that horrible fluid equals excellence!!
Liked every minute of it! Appreciate it!
Thanks! Never used one before and googled it and came here. Gonna try it!
Thank you T-ROY. This really helped!
Thanks for the time and effort in making this - really good. Thank you.
Happy to help Dave. Glad you enjoyed the video!!!
Thank you for this video including the first 5 mins!
I bought one of these a few years ago and it is a must have for BBQing. It starts off giving out a lot of smoke but after 10 to 15 minutes you have some nice hot charcoal.
Hard to believe, but @ 61 years old I picked up a used weber charcoal chimney starter in great shape for $3.00 and wasn't sure how everybody used it. I always poured my charcoal into the bottom of my grill and used that famous brand squirt and light charcoal fluid that lot's of people buy. So believe me when I tell you that this video helps allot of us that don't want to admit our ignorance. Thank you much. Jim :-)
I'm glad I could help you out Jim. I appreciate you watching!
I like your energy...you really enjoy doing this
Useful intro. I WANTED the construction explanation first so I could put together the science of flame in using this piece of equipment. Other people want to cut to the chase and that's fine too. Actually, I'm going to use the chimney for a repurpose so the full explanation was extremely useful. Thanks! Good job! :)
Nice video, nice explanations, and seems to be a nice guy! Thank you "T-Roy" !!!
Hi Marcelo, thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate you watching!
EXCELLENT TIPS HERE MY BROTHER!!!!! JUST IN TIME FOR THE 4TH
Thanks T Roy, that's all I ever use. Nice Wichita by the way. Have a happy and safe Independence day.!!

Thanks T-Roy! Using your tips now.
Thank you sir, very very informative.
Helped a lot, thx much👍👏♥️
You, sir, are a godsend. I used a charcoal chimney for the first time after watching your video and it is way better than lighter fluid.
Thank you for the tips. Much appreciated.
Thanks a lot. Ive been using a fire starter for years now. But was doing it all wrong. Thanks for the tips!
"It's got this thing right here"....good stuff
I would be a rookie, watching your video I'm confident enough to try this in my own. Just ordered a chimney off Amazon.
My first time using a charcoal grill this year, and I've been using the lighter fluid- gross! I'm going to get myself a chimney starter. Thank you for posting this video, it helped!
Thanks for your video. Need to get me one of those chimney starters!
Thank you for this video T Roy! Last year was the first full season I could bbq, and I was struggling with my charcoal, using lighter fluid. When the charcoal was ready, the heat wasn’t balanced, one side cold and the other side hot. I did the triangle method, letting my charcoal soak for about 5 minuets, but it was always a struggle. I considered buying a charcoal chimney, and I looked up videos here, and watched this video last night. Needless to say, I bought a charcoal chimney today, and the charcoal was the hottest I ever had it. This video helped, and I wanted to thank you!
Hey Christopher, I'm thrilled that this video helped you. One of my fans actually asked me to make this video because he was struggling also. I appreciate you watching and thanks for the kind words!!! Keep that smoke rollin' brother!! Cheers!!!!
Yes sir. I plan on keeping the smoke rolling!
T-ROY!!!! That's the BEST $17 I ever spent for bbq cooking...... NO MORE LIGHTER FLUID...... just a couple pieces of newspaper and 15 minutes....... GOOD TO GO!!!! thanks for your videos
+Kenny A Glad to help you out Kenny. The flavor of the meat is so much better when you don't use lighter fluid. Happy cooking buddy!!!!
Thanks for the tips. This rookie really needed it👍

Just found your channel!love it.. I just order mine
Wow, I thought I was the only one to use it upside down. You rock!!!
+Victor Le Great minds think alike Victor!!! LOL Thanks buddy!
Very helpful. Thank you, sir.
Thank you for this. I'm trying to learn to use my guy's offset smoker and have no clue what I'm doing. He passed away last year, otherwise he'd be showing me or doing it for me. :) Anyway, I really appreciate the helpful video.
long rant but good video thanks!! I just found out about this thing. once I'm out of liter fluid, no more ever again.
I found a bag of Kingsford, blue bag just like in the video, in my garage been sitting there for over 5 yrs, unopened. I did as you said in the video. I was surprised I did not use any lighter fluid. Did just like you balled up some paper and put the charcoal in. about 20 min. later I had fire. Most of it had burned down and turned white. I got one of these off set smokers still trying to learn how to use it. I tried that reverse searing, my steaks came out tasting like a roast. Nice and soft but dry.
Thx, my husband likes to use the gas stater, I really don’t like the gas flavour, got this starter!
Thanks for posting this!!
Professional…..Thanks Troy, ready for a T Bone 🥩♨️
Thanks for explaining the chimney! Never used one before! Take Care! Dave in WV!
+TheRubiconInvasion Glad to help Dave. There is a huge difference in the flavor of the meat when you only use charcoal.
