Alright lads, I have put a lot of research and time into making this video. Had to learn so much about each specific firearms before actually figuring out the details. But it all paid off (hopefully). I did manage to find some crucial hidden details and I now have newfound appreciation for Keanu Reeves and Director Chad Stahelski. They've really done a wonderful job and I hope among the 31 details that I found, at least some of them will blow your mind.

    • Or perhaps he uses motion sensors to shoot at the sound. Instinctively, he puts it at head height to shoot to kill, but due to his loyalty to Osaka and unwillingness to serve the high table, he instead goes for incapacitating shots, therefore he loweres the motion sensor. This works in conjunction with the cane height theory.

  • 4:00 the shell casings are not all CGI as the prop gun Keanu uses in most shots is a blank-firing pistol however it has what's called a "plugged barrel" meaning the muzzle end has been welded shut so that no concussive blast exits the barrel. This is very important because blanks actually have more gunpowder in them than live ammunition because a) blank guns need more gunpowder to function because they don't have the back pressure of a projectile leaving the barrel (blank guns also have modifications done to the locking surfaces so they have less resistance against the recoil) -- and b) to make the blank gun safe to use in close proximity to actors. The drawback of the plugged barrel is they produce no muzzle flash. Those are added easily with CGI in post. I've worked on several sets as a Film Tech and chatted up the on-set weapons masters to learn all this.

There's a clip of Ana de Armas using one for one of her scenes, and you can see the slide operating and hear a little pop each time she fires. Chad Stahleski also referenced the prop guns used in response to the Alec Baldwin shooting.

  • 2:10 I want to point out that while the Glock 17/Glock 34 does typically hold 17 rounds, the mags he is using have the Taran tactical +5 extension so more likely he has at least 22 rounds per mag and when he does a reload, it is a tactical reload for topping off your gun. Finally, you can actually see the old mag that he retains still has bullets in

    @thepurespartanify@thepurespartanify3 ай бұрын
  • John had extended basepads on the Glock mags so he probably had 22 (or maybe 23) rounds in each mag technically, BUT he still did a "tactical" reload proactively before the mag was empty. In either case, he retained the mag because it was not empty instead of dropping it to the ground like he would on an empty mag. Also after the priest at the church shoots him, the pieces falling were probably not John's suit, but were probably the lead birdshot from the shotgun round that didn't penetrate his "bulletproof" suit.

Thne you have the bad CGI scenes, as in the beginning on the Horse or later in France, where the slides of the guns don't move. Also, you can see, that in the scenes with blank guns, the actors actually "aim" so stop the gun movement and pull the trigger, where in the crap CGI szenes the just point the guns. Which is incredibly obviouse in the behind the szenes videos.

But now, as John progressed or rather level up, the same enemy still exists with the same stats but easier to kill as if John leveled up way above the enemy level cap. This convinced me that John Wick is a movie written as a video game.

Birshot spreads out the force and would stick in the coat when he flies back. Then it falls out of the folds in his coat when it straightens out when he stands up.

    @dirkz.duggitz1567@dirkz.duggitz15673 ай бұрын
  • About the CGI shells, what's more likely is that the guns used in the fight scenes are "plug-guns" which is a kind of conversion done for use with blank ammunition to avoid injuring someone when shot at very close range. The gun's barrel is plugged and blanks with weak loads are used as ammunition, so in a way you can replicate the exact function of a gun with reciprocating slides and bolts and shell casings without risking anyone's safety. I think that the director Chad Stahelski talked about this when he went on Joe Rogan's podcast.

  • @6:22 I think he wasn't "measuring the cane height to aim properly", i believe he was was checking his surroundings cause it was a boiler/steamer. I remember the scene right before this, while he's planting sound devices, he felt a hot surface before placing the 3rd.. so the 4th sound device, he uses his cane first to touch the surface in doing so achieve 2 things; 1) hard surface and smooth surface 2) he feels the temperature on the ball of the cane and confirms its another boiler/steamer thing.. so its just to be aware of his surroundings. his "cane" has a hidden blade, and I'm pretty sure he already well aware of the cane's length to the millimeter (proven from those precise stabbings).. yes, he can use for extra stability to aim of course.. but not much for "aiming properly" just my 2 cents~ great vid as always~

  • Great video! Theatrical armorer and professional stunt performer here: At least some of the John Wick films used "full plug blank fire modified weapons" which is a fancy way of saying they took a real gun and plugged the barrel so they could fire low power blanks without any bullet or gases coming out the barrel. This allows them to fire the guns in close proximity to stunt performers without (much) risk of injury, and these types of blank fire weapons do eject shells just like the real thing! Without being on set for the filming of each specific scene it's nearly impossible to say if they were using blank weapons or a rubber dummy gun that they touched up with CGI after the fact, but it's very possible that those shell casings were real.

  • The debris that fell off John after the priest shot him were not pieces of fabric, they were pellets from the shotgun that the jacket stopped. Also when John strips the slide from his pistol he is not stabbing the bad guy with the barrel. The front of the frame has two sharpened points that are used for melee. Taran tactical calls them fangs to go along with the snake theme of the gun. The gun itself it called the pit viper.

  • hy there mister nice job of you, and thanks you once again to light my lecture of movies ^^ i dont know if you notice it, but at the end of JohnWick4, when we see is grave, there is a moment where we have a focus on the dog who watch aside like it's reacting to someone he knows/likes so maybe john wasnt dead and was just here looking the scene (theorie of mine, we will see in the future) cause you didnot point it in this video, i took the liberty to hightlighted it just in case you missed it. keep going, take care and see you next

  • #26 Kanes p365 is an sas (sig anti-snag) which does have sights. They’re just in the back of the slide and can only be seen from the back. It’s purpose being to be used as a pocket pistol that won’t catch any fabric when drawn.

  • Ok fun-fact on the part 4:16 I remember where even if your dead some parts of your body cna still move. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as "post-mortem movement" or "cadaveric spasm." While a person is dead, certain reflexes or muscular contractions can still occur due to various reasons, such as chemical reactions, rigor mortis (stiffening of the muscles), or involuntary nerve impulses. These movements might involve slight twitching or even significant spasms but do not indicate any sign of life. I know that it's a bit nerdy but that's my theory even though what you said where he move his leg so he wouldn't get hit is the reason

  • They use either some kind of electronic or co2 powered prop gun, which likely ejects shell casings and keeps the volume at a safe level. There's a clip of Ana de Armas using one for one of her scenes, and you can see the slide operating and hear a little pop each time she fires. Chad Stahleski also referenced the prop guns used in response to the Alec Baldwin shooting.

  • Awesome how you put this together. However i miss one. When Caine is fighting in the osaka kitchen, there is a moment where he touches an boiling pot with the top of his cain and then feels the top of his cain to see if the pot contains hot water. This way he is sure that he won't be burning his hand.

  • The Glock 34 combat master comes with 23 RD extended base plate magazines as shown in the movie. He does a tactical reload to retain the leftover rounds. Caine’s Sig P365 with custom (unique) muzzle device is a P365 SAS (Sig Anti-Snag). It has sights integrated and recessed into the slide. Sig made this model for carry concealed or pocket carry without anything that could potentially snag upon drawing from concealment. The FX team adding the shotgun pellets shows that the shell fired was #1 buck or 3” magnum #00 buck, good catch. Go back and do a check in the alcohol bottles. Do a price check on some of those. The 2016 Yamazaki aged 20 year single malt whiskey is worth a few thousand, same with the bottle shown with Killa at the poker table.

  • First, fantastic analysis. Not CGI shell casing, but blanks. Also the 'bits of fabric' falling off Wick after he's shot by the priest with the double barrel shotgun behave more like bird shot. That would be far easier as a practical effect than in post with CGI.
