Excellent commentary. It would be nice to show aerial views - so that the lay of the land, position of forces, etc. etc. is more easily discerned.
google earth it
@@simontemplar1 I meant it would be good to see the animations from an aerial view.
The battle foretold the defeat at Kambula. Ending the winning streak of the Zulus.
Zulu warriors besides their shield carried two assegais one a long one for throwing a shorter one for stabbing along with a club known as a knobkierie. They were trained to engage the enemy in pairs.
Your animation and commentary are excellent. Thanks.
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed
Each rifled soldier could have used 2 6 shot pistols for close range.
I am British, but was rooting for the Zulu........such brave men
We won in the end
So windy that rifles were tumbling through the air.
Perhaps they're _air_ rifles?
Damn how on earth did you manage to get those two horses shot and then have wood escape on his own. That must be quite difficult.
You can change the unit size in the preferences file ;)
Spectacular vid👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
The irony, scorning Zulu marksmanship only to have a horse shot under and an officer killed next to him. That was a near Sedgwick incident.
The Irony of laughing at the British when they just come and wipe you out forever.
They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist...
Excellent!
I saw the original film with Michael Caine that's was just jaw dropping but honestly u should make a remake of it im sure that it will b awesome great graphics 👌
Yeah, the remake could be race swapped with blacks playing the British and whites playing the zulus because, ya know, DIVERSITY! 🤷♂😆
All fluid gender cast ?
You mean the movie Zulu ?. That started with the battle at Isandhwana where all the British were slaughtered then moved to Rorkes Drift Jan 1870. These battles were after that.
The British seemed to underestimate the strength and tenacity of their enemy
Actually no, they knew what they were up against, followed orders anyway.
"The British seemed to underestimate the strength and tenacity of their enemy" ---- AGAIN.
@@CaptainJimNoss it’s those damn bag pipes 😂
I would like to complain about the lack of diversity in the British ranks
Who gives a *****
@@jonathanraven5939 I give up . Who does give a @@@@?
Likewise I would complain that given the immense immigration into South Africa that the lack of diversity in the Zulu Forces appears unbalanced and unrepresentative of the population proportionally speaking.
Where is the diversity amongst the Zulu ranks.
Morning humor imo.
Great channel by the way. Good idea.
Thanks a lot :)
nice made video, thank you. But what are these greenish things flying in the air?
Locusts probably.
Could you skip the kilometers please? Otherwise carry on.
An interesting video. I'm glad I wasn't there.
People don’t understand that the Impi was the standard operating procedure for most of Africa. The men fought, the women looked after the households, and the children looked after the livestock. As the men were only warriors their numbers were less than those of the women so they had two or more wives. This went on for many hundreds of years creating a race of men who were fearless ,doughty warriors,as we see in the number of successful Black Boxers. The downside is that they are genetically keyed to be more aggressive and to treat women as chattels, something we in the West refuse to accept despite the evidence which is overwhelming.
Many of the Zulus were only part-time warriors. They spent most of their time hunting and farming.

Never finished HS did you?
@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 They did not farm. That was womens work.
Nice work except for the video editing, specifically the debris floating through the screen. Adds NOTHING to the presentation.
Why use metric distances? The British didn't during the 19th century.
Because it is 2024
Because it is 2024 and people use Metric far more
I am 120 miles from London and have never see distance measures in kilometres in the UK ever
Neither Zulus or Brits use or used metric - which is French
This style of warfare is up close and personal. As is most warfare!!!!!
Excellent storytelling.
Many thanks!
this is like a bad horror movie script. lets all split up, run upstairs, get killed off 1 at a time and make sure that we aren't paying attention to the dangers around us so it's even easier for them to sneak up on us.
HTF can that many zulus surprise that many soldiers?Lookouts anyone?
same prejudice that bought Custer his ticket in 1876.
What's with all of the debris flying through the air?
Yeah, looks like someone is mowing the grass on a very windy day
GREAT GRAPHICS! It makes History come alive!
How brave (or stupid) must you be to stand and face 100,000 attacking Zulus?
The Generation Z`s we have wouldn`t stand, you would just see a brown arsed streak running away, wondering whether to wear a pink or rainbow dress.
20,000
Yes that's the one, ✌
Lieutenant - is prouncned LEF- tenant NOT Loo -tenant. These were British Troops - not Amercian.
Why did they order everyone to fire at poor old Will?
Just curious, which TW game is this?
game is Napoleon Total War and I'm using the Khartum and Zulu Mod
incredible. Now... imagine if it had been a fair fight!!!
If it could be fair the British would not be there.
Neither the Zulu’s since they were the original invaders…. Like most African tribes, until the great African Map displacements. But you’d know they if you wasn’t some backwards Golly-wog me ole China plate. 😑
We won 🇬🇧 in the end
Don't be called will on the Battle field 😮
You would have only one country flag flying per column.
Hell ! Check out the lack of DEI in the Zulu impis.
Lack of diversity was their strength.
You can't see DEI you mo8on.
Come on boys, jump in the van! Awoooooo!
Dover stopsmallboats
Apparently the zulus had british rifles (captured) or black market---not the shields and spears they had at the1st encounters
Where are the bayonets?
They forgot them lol
Senseless war and death..
Now we just have a senseless Generation Z.
@@geordie114Good one👍
I remember when that happened
which total war is this
I assume it's empire total war
Napoleon total war, im using the Kartum and Zulu mod too
These are great graphics though....must have been hard yakka trudging all day
How about less AI and more human creatoin?
There goes the lobsters
Hi
"Lootenant"?
it is actually correct because a Lootenant stood in Loo of a superior officer. Although i feel the makers of the video may not be British
If not "LOOtenant", then how do you pronounce "Lieutenant"?
@@jeremymerrifield7244 Lieu means 'instead of' in French.
@@rdelrosso1973 A Briton would never say Lootenant.
They weren't welcomed then.
And …… Do you understand why Britain needed to carve out more territory beyond their own small island ?
@@I.M.A.Panther3619 yes I do I uderstand, and appreciate it.
What were the war planners thinking when sending insufficient troops to slaughter against overwhelming enemy?
Period correct 🎉for period😢
Nope but it sure was fun .
😇😇😇
The Spanish in the Americas?
There was nothing in Zululand that the British wanted except for the Zulus to stop attacking and enslaving their neighbouring tribes.
And the French colonialists?
Call in the A10 warthog. Lol.
Just what in blazes did the zulus did to them to warrant all this sh- t,kind of reminds me of 1776
The Zulus had an Empire….only one Empire is allowed By the Empire
The Zulus were aggressive and expansionist. They tried to muscle in on British territory and were taught a lesson. They have been quiet ever since.
do the same now in Africa.
Subdued,. You mean murdered.
On the Serengeti, and everywhere else, the survival of the fittest and the cruel un-caring natural selection process is in effect. Guns vs low grade metal ore spears happened. Yet the strong natives preserved despite the cost of way-to-many young men. Great Britain exhausted the natural resources of their island nation. They needed resources beyond their isle to survive and to feed their people. They knew what they needed to do to survive. Yet people like you want to shout …” oh how awful, dreadful and inhumane.” This was all about survival. That’s an no holds bared situation.
Nah - it was an Colonial war and the Zulus were very very good at fighting it - it was never easy or a cake walk for the Brits
Killed in warfare is not murder
@@scouseaussie1638 They were trying to take away thier land.

Why Eric. Prayer tell
@@jeremymerrifield7244 lol ..I’ll let ya have a guess.
And remember since the American Revolutionary War the ideals was blacks would never make good soldiers tell the British that in this battle LOL
Was it really important to invade Zulus
Their constant stealing of cattle across a border and refusal to accept our hegemony aka Queen Victoria was what led to these raids…they liked stealing cattle from other people more than they loved peace or diplomacy
The Zulus were the true heroes, charging the British modern army with just spears and shields. It was a total massacre but they kept on charging. They have earned my respect and my salutes.
boogaloooo
Disgusting, absolutely disgraceful.
Need a British accent when telling these stories. Otherwise it just sounds like a standard non emotional National Geographic's programme.
Yes I agree
Yes a proper Cockney accent will do the trick
Empire wasn't so great was it?
A third of the globe.
Hum , load of rubbish. Yes Zulu did surprise and kill many horsemen, but this was not a battle more a reconnaissance in force which was surprised and lost many horsemen, but lead to the TOTAl defeat of the Zulu’s . This was a one sided war with only one silly mistake. Ps why do you keep playing that ridiculous words from the film Zulu by a sergeant, who in reality was the complete opposite of the actor in the film
It’s known as the battle of Holbane.
Friendly Zulu.Thwy were beaten and forced slaves. They had little choice.
By other African tribes, yes
@@PureTexan sometimes, nowhere near always.
@@harrybond1485i never said “always”. However, I disagree with sometimes. History would show MOST of the time haha
In today’s digital age this video is rubbish
Cheers
The Brit regulars were RASIST !
Awww , dont cry you big baby 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Spell much?
So we're the zulus
As were the Zulus.
Racist
The pronunciation of Hlobane is atrocious. Is it an AI voice?
yes
