How India United Against Its Deadly COVID-19 Wave | Breathe Again | CNA Documentary

2021 ж. 24 Шіл.
653 040 Рет қаралды

In the spring of 2021, a devastating second wave of COVID-19 sweeps India. A highly transmissible mutation of the virus emerges. Daily cases soar to over 400,000 at its peak, setting global records.
As the demand for oxygen, hospital beds and medicines escalate, Indians from different parts of the country come together to help: youths set up an online resource bank of medical essentials, people provide free oxygen supplies to villages, friends start a hospital for the needy, and ambulance companies provide transport services, taking the deceased to their last rites. This is the story of a nation coming together to fight an unseen enemy.

  • I somehow survived the 2nd wave. My oxygen levels depleted to 68%, I remember watching my elder brother crying helplessly, along with my newly wedded wife. No ambulance, no beds in the hospital, and obviously, no oxygen. Thanks to a suggestion from a doctor, I started doing lung exercises or you can call it Yoga. My oxygen levels reached the required levels. This experience changed the way I see things. Life is short, it is never going to be enough. Love your loved ones, and make sure to hate CCP, not the Chinese people. P.S: Xi xing pong is Winnie the pooh!

The best documentaries are those who paint both sides of the picture.. Running a particular narrative is only burying the truth... India had the highest mortality rate in the world but that is not even mentioned in a documentary about covud in India so again misleading and inaccurate

Went to the centre. They had checked the BP. Confirmed the registration and whether its first dose or second dose and of which vaccine. Signed on the card. I went to the booth and got my vaccine. Later got a digital certificate to my phone confirming that second dose was completed for me. It was a smooth process

I was driving down our ring road at 8pm, and, seemingly, every 2nd vehicle on Delhi's main arterial road was an ambulance with its siren switched on. It truly seemed like the end of the world was upon us. I'm really thankful that my family and I are safe, but we know way too many people who lost someone during the second wave. Regardless, all credit goes to our healthcare workers and the countless volunteers across the country. We owe you our lives, and the country owes you so much more than what you're currently getting in return for your services.

And it's the story of so many unsung heroes and their undying spirit. Now, we've thrown caution to the winds and gone back again to our wayward ways. I pray that such pandemics do not happen yet again. Kudos to the film makers especially the Writer Director Reshma Ghosh.

This is possibly similar to what happens to Wuhan and parts of China when the pandemic first broke out…looks like an apocalyptic movie setting.

  • This was a crisis which was truly handled by superhumans. Our doctors and nurses worked overtime, without caring for themselves. I know an officer of administration who went to office at 7 am in morning, worked tirelessly throughout the day till 10 pm at night, all the while making arrangements for oxygen, wherever he could find. I get to know that the ministers couldn't get sleep, getting frantic calls and messages throughout night, making arrangements thereafter. The crisis and the tragedy had put us all in a position where we were so stressed up that we didn't think about what the doctors or the administration were going through. After pulling out of the crisis, today, with a clear mind, I am realising how this devilishly huge task was handled by the people who stayed away from their families for us. Huge respect to them.

We had the spanish flu as a reference as what action to take. But the problem is the govt was run by stupid idiots who wont take advice from medical experts. The moment the virus was in the country, vaccine development should have been done on war footing and a plan should have been in place to vaccinate everyone. But we all know what happened. Not 1re was given by the govt for vaccine development. Initial funding in India was done by Bill Gates. Shame. Then govt declared victory without vaccination once cases started going down. Then second wave hit. Every medical expert was saying there will be a second wave. We had a reference of the spanish flu waves. But still govt didnt prepare. I was nearing the end as I knew it very well. I live alone without any family and hence I knew that it was the end. I had only about a night and perhaps half a next day on my meter to live on this planet after which someone would have cremated my mortal remains too in the same way as has been shown here. One last hospital bed came to my rescue and I recovered to stand on my feet in a matter of a week. The doctors and nurses that attended to me did a fabulous job and I survived to narrate the tale. Frightful period in the history of humankind indeed.
