Asian Heatwave: Red Alert in India till Thursday | Vantage with Palki Sharma
A town in central Myanmar saw temperatures hit 48.2° Celsius today. That is the highest April temperature recorded in Myanmar in 56 years. Yesterday, the mercury hit 44 degrees in parts of Thailand. 30 people have died of the heat in Thailand already this year, compared to 37 all of last year. A red alert has been issued for the Indian states of West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar. Schools have been shut in the Philippines and in Bangladesh as well. On Sunday, Bangladesh had decreed that schools would remain open, but made a u-turn today after temperatures crossed 43° Celsius in the capital Dhaka. Should the academic calendar be changed to factor in warmer summers?

Earth is not in danger, it is just adjusting itself to eliminate humans.
Indian bots are sweating like ......
The world is a beautiful place, but it has a disease called the human race.
this is nothing to be honest 😅 if it's earthquake or tsunami then we will be in danger 😅

It is crossing 40 degrees daily in India, and many corporate companies are asking employees to come to office in this extreme heat.
It's going to be 50. Every year this happens
I'm from Gaya and it's hottest as well as cooldest district of bihar. Right now the temperature is 43 degree Celsius.
Im from Kolkata and we are expecting 50+ in May 😊

AC is harmful for environment, are you crazy?
Why you want AC ? AC creates more heat. Have you seen the how AC works ?
@@GAMINGBLAZE that's why I don't have and it's not like I can't afford it.
@@GAMINGBLAZE AC doesn't create more heat, the heat stays the same. The inside is cool and the outside is hot so the heat cancels itself out.
@@Darsh0606 AC removes heat from indoor air by transferring it to the refrigerant, which then releases the heat outside. Imagine thousands of AC doing this in a city. Sending your home's heat to already hot outside.
Nice to see this, Our greed will kill us one day for sure.
You are full of hate
@@GAMINGBLAZENo accept the reality
Envy, gluttony, greed, lust, pride, sloth and wrath are the main drivers of climate change and the resulting heatwave. Overpopulation does NOT cause climate change, at least as much as GREED.
Yes, an academic calendar should be changed . Children are more vulnerable to this heat wave. The government should think of it.
Meanwhile Hasdev Jungle is being cut to extract coal to run the power plant to produce electricity to run ACs. Circle of life😂
In Jharkhand due to minning there is too much coal dust in the air…3 years back 2021….10km from my house new mining project was given to central coal fields…they extracted all coal and trees cover gone and that place is now like black Grand Canyon….meanwhile nearby areas suffers lot and remains poor
It's not the heat that kills it's the humidity!
can you explain? Is it because humidity will increase sweating?
@@onlytolearnit's actually because the higher the humidity, the harder it is for sweat to evaporate (which keeps the body temp on a normal level), so our body works overtime to keep the body cool. The harder the body works to keep us cool, the higher probability of heat stress to occur because the body actually feels hotter than the actual temperature. For example, if the temperature is around 40°c, due to humidity, the heat that your body actually feel could actually be around 50°c, which is very dangerous for our body.
Heat kills, sweat saves.
humidity makes it hard for sweat to evaporate so no natural cooling occurs This time I installed exhausts near ceiling to remove humid air from the rooms. It works like a charm.
We will also adapt slowly to such temperatures...like creatures living near active volcanic zones.. earths climate is just getting hotter... can't expect anything better.

We should give summer holidays from April 1st itself as an adaptive measure to ensure a relief to small kids . It's very important to reschedule the school annual exams . I think we should take action asap.
Thailand now, May 1st, 2024. 42° C, feels like 46° C
people will need to spend 3 months underground every year soon
I'm doing that already 🙂
Its hot in Jharkhand & Chattishgarh too in eastern india..

The Earth is aware it needs a reset. Less Population. Smarter Population.
Doesn't matter how smart u are, being human is enough!
Trees 🌲 are the solution and smarter ones are causing more problem than poor people
@@rockyjohnson1775Trees are trees - not 'solution' In a warmer climate trees don't work anymore as a carbon sink. There is no savior ... but our behaviors.
@@gehwissen3975 half the solution is green cover of trees…many agricultural spots where you can’t see trees for sq kms as seasonal crops will be grown this makes heatwaves and polluted air to reach more and more places…in my town when i drive my bike through residential areas it’s 2deg less than whole town because of trees
@@rockyjohnson1775 They can cool down cities and clean the air - as long as trees can survive.... In Western Europe 80% of all trees are sick. (One-third slightly, one-third almost dead) Diseased trees can no longer do their 'work for humanity' well. Cities are a bad habitat for trees - outside the cities we harvest them like mad. We messed this up - and now crying for the savior. Bad joke
My aunt had to be admitted in hospital coz of heatstroke pls drink lot of water
Something needs to be done really quick globally to tackle this climate change. It's getting unbearable year after year, i hope things doesn't get worsened to the point where there will be a big question of human's survival.
If not now - we will be at that point around 2030. 8 Billion people with no future in their mind is hell on earth.

The climate damage is already done by humans and will take many decades to reverse, even if possible. We should think ahead by changing the academic year. This might seem like a small adjustment, but it's a practical step toward fostering a mindset of sustainability. It aligns with the idea of adapting our systems to mitigate climate change's impacts. By starting the academic year in January, we could potentially reduce energy consumption during the hottest months of the year in some regions, lowering the demand for air conditioning and thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, it might encourage schools to incorporate more environmental education into their curricula, helping to raise awareness and empower the next generation to tackle climate change more effectively. Overall, it's a small change that could have ripple effects in fostering a more sustainable society.
Above 40 degrees in all parts of Telangana, India. We are doomed for sure

55 - 65 degrees celsius before end of this year is not impossible.

Chissano's ingenuity has led to innovations that have the potential to transform the way we live and interact with the world around us.
Asian heatwave: will it get worse? Yes! As far as West Asia is concerned, the description "global warming" is still relevant.
Adapt is a right word. We can do nothing but adapt to the effect we ourself responsible.
Adaptation is not a magic tool. An AC is not adaptation 😅 In nature, adaptation under these extreme circumstances in the vast majority of cases simply means 'downsizing' or migration.
Chissano's ingenuity has shown us that by working together, we can create a more sustainable and resilient world.
Chissano's dedication to innovation has inspired a new generation of environmental leaders and activists.
Watching this from Kenya where the rain is at a destructive level that school opening date's have been postponed

April and May are the hottest months in Asia? I didn't know that. Here in Europe it's July and August. I'm in central Italy and I'm still using heating in my house.
April may are hottest month in South and Southeast Asia,,, in east Asia it's spring time
