Soldiers from 104 Logistic Brigade, the King’s Royal Hussars Battlegroup and the Light Dragoons deployed alongside troops from 11 partner nations including Poland, Denmark and the United States to take part in Exercise Defender Europe 22.
The exercise was part of an extensive program of exercises, led by the US, with strong links to #NATO and presented a significant opportunity to reassure members whilst simultaneously projecting an increased deterrence effect.
The multinational exercise is an annual event aimed at testing rapid deployment, building preparedness, and enhancing collaboration between #Allies and partner nations.

    • Light vehicles aren't made to compete whit MBTs they have there own purpose in reconnaissance and raiding capabilities, if anything you can't outgun Russia land forces, so more money should be invested in unconventional methods and in the air force and navy where Britain can make up for its small manpower.

  • I am wondering about how Britain thinks that the 227 Challenger 2's total or the 148 they plan to upgrade and pretend it is a new tank challenger 3 is going to project any kind of power in support of NATO. We have cut the British Army (think smaller but better they said) 86,000 Army personnel after repeated reductions since the end of the cold war standing army of 152,000 when we were not really expected to stop the Warsaw pact but attempt to slow them down till the reserves and territorial Armies of all NATO members could get equipped from standing stockpiles in Europe to replace our dead. Sorry went a bit off topic there. We had a good army with barely enough numbers or adequate equipment for the threat of the time now we think that improving cyber warfare and changing our formation structure will be a good replacement for the 70,000 troop we are missing. The British army of 2022 is not able to fight a war in Europe against the likes of Russia we are geared towards the types of conflicts we have been involved in for the last 30 years. Which is typical really preparing a strategy to fight the wars of the past has always been a losing idea. Did no one do any kind of threat assessment in order to work out how our Armed forces need to be equipped and trained to combat them?? We have only had since 2014 to work it out.

    • @ Xilaith Ownage seems you didn't do your research. Boots on the ground is needed but high tech equipment wins wars and costs money. Look at Ukraine, their army is growing but without the equipment it cannot push back russia. Ask yourself, what is more expensive to train? a guy with a gun or pilots.

      @dimwitsixtytwelve@dimwitsixtytwelve Жыл бұрын
    • We’re a naval power, always have been. Large ground forces aren’t a threat to the UK or its oversees territories-that’s what the navy is for. We’ll always have tanks, but, just look what Ukraine can do with a handful of British and other western tech. It’s not 1940 anymore. Only the Russians think it is.

The only good news is the role of tanks is questionable on the modern battlefield in a genuine peer-level conflict. [and no, combined arms don't help much . . . Javelin can destroy a tank from 2km away]

    @nickb-@nickb- Жыл бұрын

Peru used British fighter-bombers in an armed conflict in combat Canberra and we also had Hawk Hunter fighter-bombers Greetings from Lima,Perú
