    • Yeah, the boy having a crush on a pretty woman is fine, but the way she was clearly attracted to him during their romantic dates looked illegal! Does it freak you out when she kept touching him in the water fountain?

      @rickylafleur5804@rickylafleur5804 Жыл бұрын
    • Even "playfully playing into it" is still completely and utterly unacceptable. Any child with a crush on an adult needs to be immediately and very firmly shut down and redirected. It needs to be made extremely clear that, while the romantic feelings are a normal part of growing up, it is not ever okay for a child to have a relationship like that with an adult. "Adults reciprocating your feelings is fine and normal" is a REALLY REALLY BAD THING to teach children for reasons that should be extremely obvious lol. Doesn't matter if it's "only a little" so you don't "break their heart".

    • @@jessicastjames6202 i don’t think they meant it that way, “to act like the adult is reciprocating their feelings” they meant to not outwardly tell them off because it could lead to humiliation and fear of rejection when they grow up - it’s best for the adult to ignore the advances and not entertain the idea of a possible relationship because, yes, that would be extremely dangerous for the child

And that damned kiss makes me feel sick to my stomach. She should've just kissed him on the cheek or something, or talked to him like a teacher or counselor or really an adult with any semblance of responsibility that PLATONICALY cares about him, because that kiss was just so disgusting to see, she literally looks like she's 4 times his ag, the kid's character wasn't even in double digits. @OwlBard@OwlBard4 ай бұрын
    • @@OwlBardthe most generous guess i can give is that they wanted their teen girl audience to be able to relate to/see themselves in the main character while she lives out the fantasy of falling in love with a hot guy. with few exceptions men in their 20s are better looking than teenage boys, and it isn’t uncommon at all for teen girls to celebrity crush on adult men and imagine romantic relationships with adult men. so it’s like a self insert fanfic. not that disney should have played into or normalized this of course! in the tv shows and also many of the movies at the time they portrayed age appropriate relationships, but in some of the movies they portrayed the hot mature dude who sweeps you off your feet, which is a fantasy and not a realistic scenario. so maybe they thought about it that way, like the viewer could also distinguish fantasy and reality, but of course their audience isn’t going to be that critical or discerning so in the end it doesn’t matter. i don’t see why they couldn’t have made, say, camp rock with nick jonas as the love interest instead of joe, but nick jonas definitely had a different/younger image at the time and i guess that just isn’t what they were going for. there are also restrictions for working with minor actors that don’t exist for adults, so it’s probably easier production and budget wise to have as few minors in the film as possible. plus adults are usually better actors than teens, so it’s just easier for them to cast an adult. in the end it’s all financially motivated, because that’s more important to them than portraying healthy examples of relationships for teen girls in every single movie.

  • I feel like it should be stated that kids/teens having crushes on adults is fine and normal because they don’t know any better (i.e. a student having a crush on a teacher). That doesn’t take away from the fact it was uncomfortable for Dunst (also worth mentioning her full quote "At that point I was a little girl, and he was like a brother to me," Dunst said. "And it was very weird even though it was a peck. I was just very not into it. Other than that I was treated like a total princess on that set.") But it’s still worth noting the big difference between the two.

  • When I was 11 and in 5th grade in 2015, my teacher showed Blank Check in class because we were doing some sort of class project about checks and math (or something like that) and she thought it would be a fun way to show us what checks are. Or something like that. We finished it over like 3 class periods because I remember 1 of the periods was a day I was sick and I missed the beginning. So I started Blank Check when the kid gets hit by the car and had zero context for why he wanted a million dollars. very very weird movie.

  • Hi I know this video is 2 years old but I had to say - when I was a cinema major, we were assigned to read this book about screenwriting called Save The Cat by Blake Snyder. Apparently he is the guy who wrote Blank Check and reading the book was painful because he just references his process while writing Blank Check A LOT AND IT IS SO BAD

    • @@Charlotte226 True! That adult woman clearly enjoyed giving the kid a long and deep kiss on the mouth, and she definitely wasn't just acting or pretending. Are you worried she invited the little boy over to her house to "rehearse" those romantic scenes alone with him back when this movie was being made?

  • Was trying to write a book so I was reading "save the cat" and I'm in the section where he's talking about his made up genres. The plot twist, I tell you, when I read "even my own little kid hit from disney, blank check." And I just sat there going "isn't that the movie that has a grown woman kiss a child?" Also how wild is it that he called it a "hit" like who are you fooling lol Just remember kids, the man who wrote the book on storytelling according to every screen and novel writer on the internet, wrote the movie Blank Check. Go write your movie. If he can do it you can lol
