Ricky Gervais Will Know Science Failed Him If He Ever Meets The Devil
The star of 'David Brent: Life on the Road' traveled down the social media wormhole when he shared a rather peculiar tweet from a hater.

Binge watching all of these Ricky Gervais clips after his Golden Globes
LOLxArcSaber u and everyone else, but this one is e reason nobody watches Late night comedy shows anymore. They all have Trump derangement syndrome.
LOLxArcSaber same lmao
If you just discovered Ricky, thinking he is anti-woke, i wish you good luck searching his clips, you gonna need it
Urosh Vasiljevic I know Ricky isn’t a fan of Trump but that’s not the point. The point is he knows the rest of the film industry is all full of shit. Like he said in his monolog they all act like they are woke but they took private jets and limos to get there. This privileged ass A listers like to tell everyone how to live their lives but don’t do it themselves. Big deal they didn’t eat meat that night for dinner.

The difference between American and British humour can be seen when Stephen wants to show the punchline and Ricky tries to hide it.
that is SO true
Ricky made the punch line up you shit face. Nothing else was written on the card besides the tweet.
Norm Macdonald ran circles around Stephen Merchant on his podcast
DillonYalvis @TheGodAndEmperorOfMankind BS. What do you mean it’s ‘obvious’? Half the humor of Ricky gervais is just the funny way he talks when he tells his jokes. America is 327mil people and has plenty of great comedians. Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Burr, Norm Macdonald, etc. Quit using this as an excuse to bash America.
@Pissed Bob Ross Working in the U.S. for the majority of his life with dual citizenship. SNL, The Norm Show, his Sports show, and NML all originated in the U.S. In addition, when asked in interviews, none of his comedian idols are Brits. I don't know where this idea of superior British humour popped up from but there is an enormous amount of contrary evidence. I'm also Canadian but he has clearly been moulded more by the U.S.'s comedic landscape than Canada's.

The comedic timing at 6:14 on “sorry... my bad, right” is absolutely impeccable. I’ve watched it like 5 times over, what a comic genius.

Amazing improvisation too

He's so much better when you don't have to hear him laugh. That laugh - good gawd.
I love the laugh, it's hilarious
Love how Ricky walks on in just jeans and a hoody.
I don't, he should make an effort.
Optimistic Whovian an effort for what? For whom? He’s on TV and has put the work in to be successful in life. He’s made an effort for himself and his family. That’s all he needs to do, and there is no strict dress code for appearing on TV. He’s made the effort to show up and make interesting, funny conversation for the audience. Making an effort to “look nice” is perhaps the least important and superficial thing to care about, and something shallow morons like you would complain about.

I love how Gervais teases Colbert endlessly and makes it sound like ordinary conversation.
Yeah and he makes fun of himself too, that's how comedians are.
Notice how that can really only be said about Ricky though
That's how he is... Check out James Acaster. He's a genius
Not hard the guy is so far away from being a down to earth realist it's not even funny. He's like the kid at school that played with dolls spat on the regular guy and got everyone in trouble, you end up wondering if his mother and father are related on the nearer side of first cousins.
lol at colbert trying to wrestle the card away from gervais
Harrison Justis I love how Ricky takes over and reads the tweet in his way. typical Gervais delivery. brilliant!
+ smalla ss You must not know Colbert. He's been in the spotlight longer than Gervais. Though I love both of these gentlemen, the idea that Colbert is some inferior to Gervais is simply not true. They're both damned geniuses. Colbert just happens to work for a major American television network, so the style most of us were used to from him...it's angles were filed down a bit to fit the new format.
I've gone off "The Colbert Report" recently, since it became all about Trump. I get the same reaction as Ricky Gervais who actually is a guest in America and doesn't have a vote (only an opinion and there are plenty of them) when the matter of President Trump is discussed. Never really liked the Gervais style of humour; I didn't much like "The Office" UK, possibly because I've worked in to many places that were very similar and the series of podcast, by: Gervais; Merchant and Pilkington while arguably innovative (and popular) just seemed to be a series of put downs, by two clever comedians and one "stooge". Similar in some ways to watching two countries with advanced weaponry bombing Libya perhaps. I saw little to laugh about; but recently I've changed my mind about Ricky Gervais (and Steven Merchant). I think the term genius (along with hero and celebrity) is used a bit too often but it is clear to me that Gervais is intelligent; sharp and like Colbert started out as a comedian. Presenting the Golden Globes by basically roasting the audience, was so obvious afterwards; but on the original point it is clear that Gervaise knows about TV shows and how they work. The idea of amusing a larger TV audience, by insulting a smaller audience of "celebrities" and powerful people in the industry; even: the hosts; sponsors and himself might be described as genius but is a calculated gamble, but I think Russel Brand did this first. How much of the Colbert Report is rehearsed I couldn't tell you; but I think Gervais set Colbert up with the initial handshake and pull; that way he could feign: exasperation; indifference and ask questions about Trump instead of answering them. The excerpt from the tweet war reinforces Gervais's stage persona of being combatitive and puncturing pomposity; it's his story to tell and I'm sure he knows about time constraints. Actually Gervais has worked: as a writer; starred in a TV series; franchised it; was a movie star (in "Ghost Town" a comedy take on "The Sixth Sense"); podcast; numerous interviews and the funny thing he may be the man for these times as invariably he plays "a moany faced git". His comedy lecture tour (yes; he can do that too); based on natural science got rave reviews ; so I would suggest that people stop being so critical about everything and let Gervaise get on with doing that instead; because he's good at that. Both men (in the clip) merit the title of professional comedian; both have worked in different mediums only Colbert with his Trump and the latest Russian allegation act has become stale. Gervais is certainly versatile; he's quick to adapt and he often says what people are hesitant to say. I though the interview went well. If you want to see Gervais suffer there is this chilli sauce challenge (watch?v=3qrNRzkwlbU) which is funny too.
wrestle? that's a bit over dramatic. he wanted the audience to read the card is all.

He’s a rational man, I don’t think he’s going to worry about meeting the devil, Gandalf, Peter Pan or any other character from a book.
Steven Payne damn 😂
And it's people like you that believe the universe just exploded into existence in such a perfect pattern that everything is the way it is and doesn't collapse upon itself yet you can't provide the actual evidence or numerical values to complete such a task. Have fun in purgatory because Hell is full of enough of you already. I'd say a creator is factually a more rational belief seeing as though matter can't be created or destroyed, there is always something there so for something to be created from nothing there HAS to be a higher power beyond our understanding it's literally impossible for there not to be. I'm sorry you're unintelligent and so upset at a book that you believe is fantasy that you have to insult it.

"Religion began when the first scoundrel met the first fool." Voltaire
I think it was Thomas Aquinas who wrote that one of the pleasures of the saved would not just be glorifying God in Heaven, but watching the tortures of the eternally damned. And gosh, do some Christians these days _relish_ that idea. They cream their pants believing they'll get a front row seat to watching people they hate go through pain and suffering forever. What a sadistic feeling to _dream_ of the day you can get off watching someone in pain and not have to feel guilt or sympathy for them. That's what Heaven is to some of these frightened little people.
AtenRa will you feel thesame if it's reversed...like christians in hell?
The beauty of being an Athiest is that we don't think anybody will go to hell. Can't exactly laugh at them if there's nothing at all to laugh at (no afterlife).
I don't believe in Heaven or Hell, but I also don't believe that anyone should enjoy being a spectator to someone else's suffering. Fundamentally, isn't it correct that a good Christian shouldn't be able to go to hell? So I would have utmost sympathy for them if they were placed there contrary to what they believed would happen. That would imply that the Christian God went back on his word, and that's not a god worthy of worship at all.
Exactly. I can totally see how a pleasurable afterlife is something a person down on their luck in this life would look forward to. We'd all love rewards for going through our unjust circumstances; that's not even a spiritual concept to begin with, just a human yearning. It breaks my heart to hear some people say Heaven is all they have to look forward to, while others boast about Heaven and hoard it over people they hate.
this is so beautifully written, I'm seriously considering framing your comment
Hilarious that they had taped over the word, "ass", on the card but they didn't bleep out the word when Ricky said it twice....
Stephen also mentioned in the interview about himself being a muppet with a "hand up" his "ass" so he could dance.
It's funny how in America they censor such words because it's really bad to say curse words on television, however having a shitload of guns in your house is really ok.
Stephen has already said so many crazy swear words the show runners were like let's let ass slide xD also ass is an animal name as well
I watched "Catch 22" on TV and they saw fit to blur out people's titties and more. I consider that an extreme form of prurience.
we're okay with insulting blind people, just not deaf people
Sometimes facts annoy people. Ricky really is ahead of his time here 😂
Watch George Carlin, his facts really annoyed people
@@dickjohnson7845 true, but he’s dead, and a lot of what he said was more controversial than observational. I prefer Bill Hicks and a Richard Pryor if I have to look that far back. They were more honest than they were controversial. Hicks was kept pretty well out of the limelight though, sadly. Plenty of more relevant and funny comedians around today though. 👍
@@ascgazz7347 Doesn't matter that he's dead, his material is timeless and I disagree, most of his material was observational. He was a true philosopher of the human condition.
@@dickjohnson7845 of course it matters that he’s dead! Comedians are social critics! By definition they depend on current topics, current events to work from, unless they’re entirely surrealist, but Carlin was not! He spoke about people and events relevant to that time. He didn’t predict mobile phones, or the internet, Trump, Ai, etc. he may have been a “philosopher of the human condition, but it was the condition of people leading up to 2008. I doubt he even commented on the banking crash.. So YES of course it matters that a SOCIAL CRITIC a is not alive, but if you want to live in the past observations of a marmite comedian then that is your prerogative. Just because YOU alike something a lot, doesn’t make it the best thing ever. You sound almost religious…. Over a dead comedian.. I found him funny, I didn’t think he was the son of god or anything though. “Prophet” LOL People will say the same about Ricky Gervais when he’s dead, and I bet he already laughs at them. Rightly so.

Michael Lear It was more like 0.03 seconds
I do love Stephen and I have to admire his respect of the "other side". I myself am agnostic leaning on atheist. Like what Andrew Garfield said in his interview with Stephen, 'I'm totally uncertain about things regarding the afterlife, God and Satan, but it's perfectly fine to question and continue to question about such things even if they let themselves be known.'
If you do not accept theistic claims you are an atheist. Agnosticism is not a flavour of atheism, it just describes your claims to knowledge.
As I said, it describes your claim to knowledge. Agnostic is without knowledge of a claim, gnostic is where you claim knowledge. You can be agnostic about any claim. This is what Ricky meant, when he said he is technically an agnostic atheist. He rejects claims that 1 or more gods exist but is open to evidence should it appear. He does not claim to know.
AsFewFalseThingsAsPossible I'm atheist in regards to evidences/proofs (or lack thereof) of the existence of god/s. They don't have to have any theistic claims, just a simple question of their existence. But then like I said, I'm not totally 100% certain of that, that's why I'm agnostic as well.
AsFewFalseThingsAsPossible Exactly. I don't know (agnostic), but I don't believe (atheist) due to lack of sufficient evidence.
AsFewFalseThingsAsPossible Excellent point. People tend to forget that one can be an agnostic theist (which is slightly rational compared to being a gnostic theist) as well as one can be a gnostic atheist (Which is just downright dumb compared to being an agnostic atheist).
Ricky Gervais is great! Down to earth and rational; insightful sense of humour.
Gosh I hoped that he would say "Doesn't it mean Satan's a bit gay".😂😂😂
Andrew Ada As they say in jail: Doing is not gay, only receiving is... 😎 (ironically, even if it's rape, the receiver is the gay one. 🙄)
Satan is the source of every evil, like duh🤷♂️
Ricky Gervais should have his own talk show. I would pay to watch him talk about anything.
He had a talk show and it was a disaster. He had a lot of criticism for fawning over prolific sex offender and general oddball Jimmy Savile.
So the guy is religious because one day he will be able to derive sadistic pleasure when he watches people he disagrees with being tortured in hell? How Christian of him. You know what? Maybe it's a good thing there's religion for people like that. Better for them to think that they'll be able to pleasure themselves to people being tortured after they die than to have them do that in life.
not only that but enjoy another man being sodomized which im sure is against their religion.
I can't count how many times so-called "religious" people have tipped their mental hand by freely showing just how sick and twisted they are on the inside. It's amazing. It goes hand in hand with how many fundamentalists believe that if there was no supreme being holding them in check that they would just start running around raping and murdering everyone. In that regard, they are actually quite nihilistic. It's hilarious. But, frankly, also quite disturbing, as well. :/
They ALL are you poor brainwashed fool.
Answer answered Brainwashed but not sadistic. A lot of religious people don't know better.
CybershamanX Oh my god, that. "Without god, there is no right or wrong!!😫". 😂😭
Nothing like a good Gervais-Falsetto to accentuate the punch-line
His laugh is just the best, esp when you get a good view of his unusually large canines...LOL
I'm not religious, but, I'm pretty sure a person who would laugh at the eternal suffering of another wouldn't exactly be heaven material. Just putting that out there.
In the Netherlands there's a saying that goes: "They pinch the cats in the dark". I know there's some lovely religious people out there, but loads of them hide behind religion, especially in countries where religion isn't as big anymore and the ones that are still religious are just sort of low lifes really. They do everything that god forbids, whilst being very very openly religious.
That's where you know the good parties are at.
I agree
@AsuraBG PBG there's 613 commandments in the bible. No one obeys them all
@@zapkvr most of them can't even adhere to the big 10 and while i'm not religious some of those 10 arequite reasonable, like don't kill people, don't steal, don't cheat on your wife. i find i especially hilarious that there are explicit rules that say there is only one god, but christians apparently believe in 3. or how they shouldn't make golden statues of their god, yet every church has a golden jesus thats being tortured

Ricky never fails to bring people right back down to earth. And with Stephen on the side (or front). it's a golden setup, to begin with. Awesome!
The one thing I don’t like is that you can go your whole life loving and giving everything to anyone you can and still end up in Hell because you didn’t believe in God. Does that not make him narcissistic?
Yes
Well, only your spirit goes to hell and since your brain processes pain, you feel no pain in hell. So you get to go around hearing people’s awesome stories about their lives for all of eternity
You’re glossing over all the sins we commit when we aren’t loving and giving everything to everyone. Believing in Jesus Christ to get into heaven has nothing to do with stroking God’s ego. God came to earth in the form of Jesus Christ to live a sinless, perfect life and shed His blood on the cross so that when you believe on Jesus Christ and are born again, His perfect righteousness is imputed onto the believer who then gives their life to serving Him out of love and a desire to save as many people from hell as possible. It’s all about the power of the blood of Jesus giving people the greatest gift of eternal life with our holy Creator YHWH; it’s not a system of narcissism and hate. I don’t know where you are as you’re reading this but I hope you always remember that whosoever shall call upon the name of Jesus Christ shall be saved.
Because that 'love' and 'giving' prob wasnt from a good place..even if it was...that person would still be a wretched sinner without a relationship with Jesus. Our righteousness is as filthy rags before God
It’s my understanding that since every good and perfect gift is from above and God is love and light and peace and justice, when you reject God, then you reject the creator of all of those good things and attributes. So hell is just the absence of peace, joy, justice, and so forth bc God isn’t there. It’s a choice to spend eternity without him. I think it’s beautiful that on earth, we all, regardless of our beliefs get to experience the attributes of God bc he so badly wants us to want to spend eternity with him. I know it can sound really out there, but I can’t help but believe in God after learning how detailed and specific our world is and the processes that have to happen just for our world to exist and for life to exist.
" that would be Satan's best day ever! " Ahahah
