Absolutely on point man, love how great of a listener Jon is, never interjected, waited patiently for Shia to finish his thoughts, not trying to jump in and finish a sentence for him. Awesome conversation man.
Being a genuine listener is much harder than to be an elegant speaker. Jon's listening skills should be in a textbook for How to Listen.
Uh huh, uh huh, yea, for sure..
His deliberate effort to refer back to what he Shio says earlier in the conversation is a way to demonstrate his listening. Anyone can pretend to listen however being able to regurgitate what you heard proves it to the other person and allows them to go deeper and share more by being more comfortable. Top notch communication skills.

I saw Jon posted this on his Instagram and it was interesting to see how triggered people were in the comments section, outraged that an abuser was being given a platform. I highly doubt these people watched the interview. Personally, as a woman who experienced physical and emotional abuse at the hands of a man I found this conversation healing, and I’m incredibly grateful you shared this. THIS is masculinity, THIS is how we heal masculinity. When men are given safe spaces to be radically authentic, raw and vulnerable they heal, and we all heal. I don’t wish for the demise of the man who abused me, I wish for his redemption, I wish for him to heal, so that he can be a better man and treat women with the love and respect that they deserve. Can’t wait to see more open and raw conversations likes these.
You are a beautiful person ❤️
Would that all who we could accurately dub a POS find "rock bottom" and a reason to turn their minds and lives around.
Such wise words!
I saw the same thing on insta. It’s interesting how many people don’t want redemption just punishment.
The internet is full of people who are incapable of thinking for themselves. It’s why the world is a disaster right now.
This was the best interview I have EVER watched in my entire existence. Ever. As a survivor of DV it is healing to see him do better. Bad choices don't make you a bad person. Mistakes are human. Change is a choice. Who are we to deny this man the opportunity to make changes for his life. We aren't Masters of this Universe. Worry about your own path. Change is an opportunity for EVERYONE. Rich or Poor. Sending love and light to Shia LaBeouf. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤️

I am at a complete loss for words. This interview was so incredibly moving. As a woman, not once - not ONCE - have I thought about the lack of societal support and resources men have when they’re in search of any type of rehabilitation, whether it’s drugs, alcohol, anger management, emotional/physical abuse, etc. Listening to this raw, untethered interview brought me to tears so many times because I am quick to judge men like Shia. I am quick to point fingers and write them off completely. But all people deserve second chances. Men like Shia deserve the opportunity to get to the root cause of their issues and do everything in their power to make amends. Shia - if you’re reading this, I want to thank you for sharing your truth with the world. It was the most profound interview I have ever listened to. To Jon - I am so grateful that you chose to give Shia this opportunity and be a true friend. You did not just talk the talk - you walked the walk. The world needs more people like you.
Delroyo, I could not have put it better. Everything you said is what I am thinking. Still watching and blown away.
Yes! Thank you for pointing this out because that’s so profoundly important to realize. The problems men face are valid & resources need to be there so they’ll have the tools to gain an understanding on the root cause & gain the self awareness to change. I watched this documentary about people who facilitate the rehabilitation of domestic violence offenders & the utter vitriol & hate they get is shocking. People want to just write these offenders off. Almost wanting to euthanise them. I understand that it’s difficult to separate the sin from the sinner but there should be room to actually offer support to those who want to change. The most influential of people are usually the ones that were the biggest sinners. The most inspiring to those that struggle are the ones who also struggled but came out victorious. Imagine if we just wrote everyone of them off & subsequently also writing off the lives they were able to save when they did change.
I hear and feel you!!!!!! I feel this man ❤
Want to see a truly broken man? Talk to the guy at the bar, who sits alone staring at his drink which he pounds back to back every night. Waiting for some stranger to say something so he can get his pictures out of his kids who he no longer see's because his wife left him, took the kids, took half of everything he had, takes half his paycheck now. The only purpose the man ever had is now gone. Taken from him. And people don't think about that, they only think about the woman.

Dude… They’re friends…
@@thesnailiscoming..5736 i dont think hes hiding hate but i agree with you that he is looking at him in some odd way
Interesting you guys see it that way. To me it came across totally different. From my perspective I saw what he also said to Shia: He loves him, he wants to help & support him and he did with having him on his show. To me, actions speak much louder than words or looks he might give. I could also sense that in his whole behavior while listening, he was totally empathic and felt with Shia. So now that you saw something he might have hid from Shia or some hate, is it maybe that deep in yourself, there is something feeling like this? So you believe to see it in someone else? Since this is only text and no voice, be aware I say this with the intention of support for you, since in my own experience I have many times seen & maybe disliked things in other people that actually where things in myself I needed to fix. So for this could be a hint for you where to look for further self-development. Where are all on our own way of development, but also we're in this together. I hope my intention comes across the way it was meant.

Men don’t just put their hands on a women for no reason. We only do that if you push us there.
If a woman deserves then she deserves to get handled
I love humanity. Hearing genuine convos like this restores a persons faith. Props to you Shia for being a role model for people that are recovering.
Gosh Shia. Ive grown up with you, have had my own bouts of substance abuse and horrible relationships. Growing with you and seeing how you've entered this spiritual journey the same time as me. You're talented and may God bless you and your beautiful family. Mia has become one of my all time favorite actors of all time, next to you. Jon you are a gem! I absolutely love you.
As a father, husband, recovering alcoholic and drug addict, I appreciate the platform you gave this man. Thank you both.
What did you do for your recovery? I was an addict and I changed that with alcohol. 1/2 gallon a day for two years. I have 2 beautiful kids and a woman with a foot out the door.

Hearing Shia talk about his wife roughly 90 minutes in made me realize how much my own wife has done for me and how she pulled me up when I was in the lowest place in my life and built me up into the man I am today...And hearing him made me realize I need to be a better man and husband...
Wow. What a tribute! I wd be honored to have someone say that about me. You are a good man.
thats true love my friend, having self love and the love of others who care for us, are our rock, our person, our support system, part of our happiness a.ka happy ending, our love and our family who is there for you in the good , in the bad, in the crazy and in greatest no matter what, who are our guiding light, give us a purpose on this planet, give us some tough love when we're wrong so we can find redemption , hope and good in this life, thats what Mia Goth and his daughter is for Shia, mad respect and admiration for this man and wish him nothing but the best, we must all learn from his story cuz who knows what we can learn and how it will help us change some part of us thats broken or lost so we can find ourself, find redemption , be our best selfs and thats its never too late set things right no matter how hard it us , if we just try and have hope in ourselves and those who truly care and love us
And you’ve said it out loud and are already on the path. So proud and honored to read your comment. I hope you had the conversation with your wife about your realization. But more importantly, I hope you show her moving forward. Huge hugs to you. ❤❤
Same here. Maybe I would have pulled through, but my wife is a fallible human being who taught me what love really is at a time when I thought living was a curse.
I wish I saw this when it first came out, my situation could be much different. Thanks Jon and Shia, I've made my mistakes and hearing this helped me realise more about stuff.
Thank you for this interview. Glad I finally listened to it
This hits so hard 🔥. So humbled by the love that went into this conversation. It is one of the most vulnerable, authentic and beautifully soulful conversations I’ve heard in a long time. So grateful for this 🙏🏼⚡️🖤
I'm a woman who has been in abusive situations, and I promise you this is one of the most healing things I've ever been blessed to hear. I hope this podcast is shared far and wide. It WILL help many, I'm certain of it. Thanks Jon, and thank you Shia! Blessings to you both 💓
Glad a woman agrees. Theres not many places where men that do these horrible things can talk about it and why it's wrong and why others shouldnt do what they did. We have to learn to be better.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!
I'm a man who was in an abusive marriage with a woman and I understand how terrifying it would be for a woman being abused by a man.
That's really cool to hear
We can't just shun abusers. there's too many. they need to heal too.
“One way or another you will be humbled in this life, and there’s nothing you can do about it” -Shia
Watching this for the second time. As a man recovering from addiction and finding faith again, this has been eye opening and encouraging in a way I can not describe
I thank both Jon and Shia for this interview. As a struggling alcoholic who lives with shame and guilt, this honesty and talk of purpose is truly life saving. I’ve given away almost everything because of alcohol and I got so much from this. Just wanted to say thank you again.
This is the most aggressively positive and supportive conversation I’ve ever seen. 😂 God bless them both.
Exactly!
“Just do it”!
I am totally blown away by this interview. I really don't have two hours to do anything but I couldn't stop listening to this. I literally just hear humility. As a Mom of two boys. I just learned so so much. I truly wish Shia peace and grace for himself. He's on his way.
I’ve always loved Shia like an estranged older brother. Seeing him go through this period of growth these last couple years has made me cry in joy and hope he would continue on the right path and he has.
amen 🙏
So happy he did this, appreciate all his movies n especially evens stevens, I grew up on that show, prayers n blessing to Shia🙏🙏🙏
I come from Poland, the first movie I saw with you was Disturbia. I always knew there was something in you, not only as an actor but simply as a person. Thank you for your sincerity and openness. I send my blessings. I am grateful to the presenter for such an uplifting message
“I know it will all be ok in the end & if it’s not ok, then it’s not the end.” That is powerful & a great way to end this interview

Joe Rogan brought me here and I’m 30 minutes in and genuinely enjoying the hell out of this , and mind you these are two actors , which I don’t usually look up to actors . Same here! Loving this podcast! Jon is fucken amazing and I always loved Shia since even stevens
Great pod cast! I appreciate the realism that was talked about! Blessing to you both.
for real Jon's such a good listener. his humble energy is pure and resonates with me. I think we can all see ourselves in him💖👏🏾
This isn't just a Shia thing. This is a whole generation and then some of broken people. The ego, the self-centeredness, putting career and craft above all, finding validation in shallow pursuits, lack of delayed gratification, victim mentality, nihilism. The list goes on. It's a cultural thing. It's systemic. It's engineered and applauded. These are the ideas and behaviors that have been sold to us as "progress" and "empowering" when in reality they are LITERALLY the opposite of those things, and lead you down the opposite path that you intended to go down. There are no mistakes or coincidences. When so many people are led down this path there is an intention behind it. You've been sold a shit playbook for life. Realizing that, and the roots of how and why that happens should be enough to make you want to change your habits. Tomorrow's a new day.

Very well said .
Yes
@Carlos Fenoll I guess it all starts with 'you' the individual. Being at peace with what you have and appreciating whats given, while not allowing negativity to drag you into a mud pit with it. If someone is being negative towards you can you brush it off with a smile or at least not feed them with that same energy? I'm working on that myself so by no means am I preaching.
Find God and the rest takes care of itself✝️God bless🙏
This interview is a true inspiration. I can't remember the last time I had the patience to listen to someone talk for 2hrs. I hope Shia reads these comments periodically, to know that he inspires people.

i can agree but i have probably just issues to focus on talks. even in real life interaction when someone telling me something i cant be present i have already something to say in my head and cant even listen what a person wants to tell me . dont know why i got this i never been like that before.

I have a feeling a majority of American men relate at a core level to what Shia says here. What’s even more inspiring is Shia was placed/given the literal modern American dream for men today of fame and money, and the insight and rawness, seeing his purpose and content in walking away from it and serving other people from literally the most humble position he could find (by all American standards). I wish I had this type of enlightenment to know my path to that kind of love

This is what life's about. Damn. Take accountability, commit yourself to understanding your actions and righting what has been wronged. Nothing more than that. Thank you for sharing this journey. If more men sat down like this, we'd live in a much more peaceful world.
This is truly the most raw, sincere interview I've ever seen. Absolutely LOVE both you guys & I always felt that Shia would find his way to his Truth & Purpose...He is a Light Warrior, I seen it in him a long long time ago.

Accountable is everything and change is possible . Such a beautiful interview . Some of us who grew up not being loved take a long time fixing what we broke along the way . I have been on that journey for 15 years and life is so beautiful when you do chose that path. No one is perfect . These are all used as gifts to reveal to us exactly who we are . 😊💜
