  • You are SO inspirational! The amount of shear motivation and talent which went into this sketchbook is truly remarkable! Your style is so consistent and beautiful and you can really tell you put a bit of yourself in every page. Also, the fact you can create amazing art while having fun? I am in awe! I absolutely love how you can critique your art in areas you want to improve on - it’s a very positive mindset as well as a skill! Thank you for inspiring me to make my own art and helping other artists out there! ❤

  • 8:30 Being self critical is part of being an artist. People pay good money in art school to have professors critique their paintings so they can learn to critique themselves.

    @hippopotamusbosch@hippopotamusbosch6 ай бұрын
    • This was a point I thought about making as well. 😊 I went to art school, and I think self-critique is one of the most valuable things I ended up taking away from my time there. Thanks for leaving this comment! 💛

  • “I gave myself permission to let go and do whatever I wanted” - this right here. Powerful quote because it’s something I struggle with a lot as an artist! I often feel so anxious when starting a new sketchbook because I feel like whatever I’m going to put in it has to be great 😂

  • This sketchbook tour was lovely! I follow many artists on social media, but there is only a handful that I actively look up every week to see what new content they've uploaded. You became one of those artists VERY quickly. Your art inspires me so much, I even bought the col-erase pencils because I wanted to start practicing color but I'm too scared to use regular colored pencils. Keep up the good work! I know I enjoy it a ton! Greetings from Chile 💜

  • I just watch the how to colour potraits with gouache. I love how you blend the colours with colours that aren't traditionally found in skin like grey, blues and green with actual skin colour to add dimension in your portraits. You do the same with your coloured pencils and I am going to watch that video next. I love that style and what you're doing with your stuff.

Also the ColErase pencils are such a good idea. I absolutely love how you use colors, simplify shapes and mix tools, it gives your art such a dreamy, soft illustration quality.

  • i have questions, please? (sorry) ok so i'm a watercolor/gouache girl and i'm learning an ancient french oil painting method (notably Bourgereau) which i like because of the richness of the render, but the chemistry of oil paints is such a hassle - there is a lot of siccants and mediums involved to have a 2 weeks full cure time (per layer) and different working texture times as it dries (2-3 hours block in, 2-3 hours smooth af render and fanning, rinse and repeat, block by block with a technique to be able to continue work on the painting without it making a huge oily mess. 3-4 days straight at least for bigger paintings) i have a hard time keeping up with such a marathon and not messing up but the final products are amazing when done well, like you can reach inside the painting it's so lifelike, semi-opaque layers interacting with each other very subtly. but i really dislike how to handle oils and how it doesn't react with water like i'd want it too, how you can't have a good wash, only glazes. i would like to know how acryl gouache fare compared to that. how long is the drying time with the retardant medium? can you smooth it out with fan brushes when it's like semi dry? does it dry matte or glossy? is it a huge hassle to clean up? can you do decent washes with it? what is the difference between acryl gouache and acrylics, and gouache? i'm kinda confused even when asking google. i'd like some feedback on this if anyone can. i'm very curious and interested in this medium but quite poor. xD

  • I'm thinking that any one of those on a foot by foot canvas and signed would sell at a local gallery. Even if you could get a local cafe to display them with a price on them. Just fun to connect the art with the commercial world. You have a record of them on video.. so the best of both worlds. You might need to connect with a NY gallery to get better prices than locally. I just like the idea of getting art objects to the homes of people who treasure them.

  • Do you use anything over your graphite drawings? Mine always smear so bad

    @kathyhackney7950@kathyhackney79506 ай бұрын
    • I don't use anything over the graphite drawings. I don't use soft graphite too much, I mostly stick to the H-4B zone, occasionally I'll use 6B or 8B, but I don't apply it too heavily. I really dislike the smell of fixative 😅 I've heard you can use hairspray over pencil drawings though, so that could be something to try!

    • @@emhuesart i typically just use my black wings. I do have a generic set up like "drawing pencils" but idk much about all the differences in lead other than the hs aren't very satisfying to draw with. Guess I'm prob doing it/going about it all wrong lol I know If you put just one wash down over graphite, it will somehow magically lock it in.
