Don't throw away scraps of pipe, an old bicycle, or a mailbox. They will still serve you

1) I'm tired of skewers lying around everywhere. I'll show you what we made to store them and saved money.
Recently, plastic pipes - water supply, sewer, heating - for building a house have become very popular among skilled and enterprising craftsmen.
Small connecting parts of different shapes, like construction kit parts, make it possible to produce any form of intended homemade product.
They are used to make greenhouses, fences, plant supports, clothes dryers, garden furniture, even gazebos...
Among the wide parts are stands for combs and hair dryers, storage places for shoes... You can’t list everything. People have a very rich imagination.
How to make a skewer:
- They cut the pipe, a little longer than the skewers. A metal file did the job. On the one hand it is wider.
- The sides of the plug were cut out, leaving two wide pieces. They inserted it inside the pipe.
- Fastened it with small screws. The bottom is ready.
- The second plug will serve as a lid. They screwed a furniture handle to it.
- To make it convenient to carry the pipe, we attached a metal handle for 10 rubles.
The result is a tube. Now you can put it in a secluded corner, it doesn’t take up much space.
Everything is compact, and you won’t accidentally get hurt. You can also paint such a case or cover it with some material, and you will get a beautiful set.
But for home use it will do just fine for us.
I would be glad if this idea is useful to someone!
2) The old bicycle was not scrapped. We made it into a romantic garden decoration from what we had.
The simplest solution is to make a flower stand out of a bicycle and create a whole flower bed there. You can install shelves on it, screw on baskets, and arrange drawers.
- But first you need to paint the bike with paint of any color: white, blue, pink, lilac, any shade will do. I painted my bike white, but first I removed the rubber tires.
- Now we need to figure out what the flowers will stand on, and any material “from what we had” will do here.
- After fitting, I settled on a small plastic strawberry box, an old Fix Price basket and a board.
- The box was just right for the trunk. We sawed off the protruding legs with a metal hacksaw, turned it upside down and screwed it to the bicycle with thin wire, we got a flat surface, we didn’t even have to put anything under it.
- The basket was also screwed on the front, it fit perfectly.
- In the end, we adapted a piece of board under the shelf, made some tricks, screwed in the screws, nailed the board and screwed it to the frame. The main thing is that all these parts hold together well, no one will look closely at what and how.
- Painted the bike again.
- And here is the final result: white, neat, new.
- To make it stand, they drove an iron rod into the ground and screwed a bicycle to it.
Can be decorated. This is not the final version, you can change colors, add new elements or move the bike to another place.
At night, solar-powered garlands glow.
This bike no longer runs, it has a new life.
3) My mother-in-law was going to throw out the old mailbox, but I asked her to give it to me. I'll show you how I transformed it.
I don’t know how old this box is, my mother-in-law wanted to throw it away, but I asked her to leave it for me.
I decided to update it, although we no longer subscribe to newspapers and magazines, but it is needed for all sorts of letters from the tax office, receipts and advertisements.
I wanted to make an imitation of cast iron with a rough metal surface. A dark brown color would look more natural, but burgundy would also work.
- First, I washed the box and used a wire brush to remove all the swollen paint.
- I applied wood putty through a stencil, I always use this, it sticks very well.
- I printed the numbers on the printer and cut them out.
- Rolled out modeling clay (sold in office supply stores), attached the cut out numbers and cut along the contour with a plastic plasticine knife.
- When the numbers were dry, I sanded the edges with sandpaper.
- I glued them to the box with Moment glue.
- To create cast iron paint, I used tile grout. I mixed rust paint (whatever it was) and grout in a ratio of approximately 3:1 (3 - paint, 1 - grout).
- I applied the paint in two layers with a foam sponge, and painted it in hard-to-reach places with a brush.
- Thanks to the putty, the paint dried quickly.
- I highlighted the ornament and numbers with gold paint.
Now this is a new box that will last for many more years.
I think the box looks like cast iron.

  • Ящик страшный , не аккуратный, зачистить старую краску , ржавчину., потом красить и выровнить не плохо бы стенки. Много напрасного труда.
