Who has the better bird and wildlife photography camera Canon or SONY? In this video I compare Canon and Sony cameras, exploring full frame and crop sensors to find the perfect camera for shooting birds and wildlife.
I'm putting the best Sony full frame camera (SONY A1) up against a crop sensor Canon camera with a 20-year technology gap. Whether you're a beginner looking for a budget-friendly bird or wildlife camera or an experienced photographer looking to upgrade to the latest camera body from Canon or Sony, this video is for you.
I'll compare photos from each camera to answer the question of which camera manufacturer or sensor type is best for bird photos. Prepare to be surprised by the results!

  • Composition gives it away because on one you are taking the best shots and on the other, you can tell that you are choosing the perfect shot (for this video). I imagine all A1 shots were spot on. I did a similar test years ago between my 500D, there is just no contest.

    • Thanks for the comment. Yes I did pick the best from the Canon Rebel to give it the best chance possible. My goal was to see how different the two cameras really were. Sure the SONY A1 is a great camera but the Rebel was a big surprise. If all you're doing is posting on social media I'd say almost any older camera with great glass would work. 😀

  • Is Canon r50 better option for bird photography?

    • Thank you for your question. I have never used the Canon R50 so can't speak first hand if it is a good camera. The specs look good for an entry level camera. It would depend on the lens you purchase with it. Buying a higher quality lens would give you the best chance for that camera. Hope that helps.

    • Thanks for the question. Well the SONY was certainly the better camera and it should be for 20 years of advancements. I was however very surprised at how well the Canon Rebel worked. It won't be my go to camera but it did work 🙂
